Will station interiors feature windows or somesuch showing the outside?
Like having a panorama window in the casino/bar/corp quarters etc.
I gather some would consider it game breaking to be able to peak outside the station. I, however, find it laughable we can't - totally counter intuitive and just detracts from immersion in a bad way.
Some cinsider it to be a technical challange, as the inside and outside environments are two different sessions, and peaking into one session from another one (read window in station) would too much of a challange technically.

They should allow that. Would be cool, let you see who's camping outside.
Of course the balance is in order to see who's on the other side of the station you have to get to a window there. And given the station's so huge that might take a long time. I guess we'll see people using alts to spot on all sides of a station for their mains.
Isn't speculation fun? :)

Great idea! There's a lot of things higher on the list, though.

Possibly - I think that if they do, they will also have some kind of a security room where you'll be able to see outside the station, or at least see overview-style anyone outside. ------------ ULTIMATE LAG SOLUTION | Forum Whiners - Unite! |

And can the space windows have screens so they can be opened to allow the fresh space air in without letting in the space bugs and space dust?

Aye, and according to my taste, the reverse would be true as well: it would be possible to peek into windows from the outside.
Peeping Tom anyone?

Space Windows' screens turn blue if you open them. Damn space bugs.

If possible, they should be without icons as those are added by the pod technology. Just the ctrl+tab view. Would be awesome to watch a (lagless) fleetbattle off the station, laserbeams slicing through space, missiles flying around.. ships popping.. occasional Wyvern drifting across the window...

I dunno, I heard of a more reddish hue from apparently new versions of the Space Windows would come up. Opens up whole new vistas to explore I guess, eh?
*gazoo toot*
Anyways, it seems that what happens inside and outside a station requires a good deal of loading (think of everytime you dock and undock). I doubt that the new ambulatory system would change that, except for a more pretty in-station segment. If CCP could pull of getting immediate data from the stations surroundings to those inside the station without any extra lag (think Jita), then it'd be a very impressive feat altogether...

Explosions should rattle the insides of the stations, making the lights flicker. Our avatars could stumble about like they're on Star Trek.
Consoles could explode hurling npc minions over railings, that kind of thing.

Yeah, and the people inside should be able to /emote flip off or /emote moon the people camping outside.

Edited by: Lithalnas on 31/07/2007 17:44:54 Well from an engineering standpoint it IS possible, with the advent of glass like metals, metals with atomic structure of glass(almost random) as opposed to crystalin structures(most metals are crystals) there is a lot of possibilities.
One of those is to take a block of aluminum and treat it so it becomes clear, currently this is a lab only application and we can get a dime sized disk of aluminum to turn white and sorta clear, something like frosted glass. So IF you could make aluminum clear you could for all intense purposes make the entire ship clear.
