It seems something happened to Tranquility and myeve just before the daily downtime. We will look into it, but for now we should be in the regular downtime.

Right now we're looking into what happened, but it wasn't some guy who shut everything down early to get a coffee break...

If you don't know what happened, exactly how do you know it wasn't?
Because we wouldn't do something like that, and if anyone actually did, that person would be fired.

I shouldn't be fixing the server, if they let me near any of that stuff it would probably get worse just by me looking at it.
No, I can't shut down the server personally, not everyone at CCP has access to that stuff.

Well, here it goes, the databased failed over at 10.55, it seems like a replication task began and the database stopped working as it should.
We had active traces running so we have now the exact errors and locks that will be reviewed later today and we can finally bring this to a resolution.
And for those of you that understand technical things as well as I do, server went boom, and we will look into the exact issue and fix it so it doesn't happen again.

Startup is delayed due to application errors, the database guys are working to get them fixed so we can startup Tranquility.

Originally by: Linda kays Okay, I didn't notice that it's past up time, but I'd expect a comment on things, well now. I'm fine with the server is down still, but I want to know why. A simple erhhh somethings wrong we don't know what but we're working on it, would be fine. Give me that. Give me now.
Read the whole thread then. I posted the reason at the top of this page.

Im pretty sure there are some people who are just here to vent, to those people I flip the bird, to everyone else I appreciate your input even if no-one else cares, if you dont like outages, there are several EXCELLENT games available that have no server outages, such as pong and fallout.
That is all.
Not relatede to this topic really, but I still play some Covert Action, Sid Meier game from 1991. It's still fun.

We had some nodes causing issues on startup, so we're restarting the startup.

How about addressing some questions people posted here? I'm all up for entertainment aspects of forum postings, but an informative aspect has its benefits too.
And the posts I made saying what happened, and then explaining the startup issues and telling everyone it's starting up etc isn't doing just that?

Well, it says starting up in 7 minutes, so the ETA would be 12.40 GMT now.

I was talking about the reimbursement/repayment questions actually. I think we're all pretty familiar with the downtime hiccups by now and whilst a "need another restart" posting is fine, I'd much rather hear about what is being done on this issues in the long run. What is CCP's policy on failed service delivery? Is it something players have to deal with or can we expect a certain service level and penalities for CCP if they are not met and so on?
To be quite honest, the decision to reimburse for downtimes is up to people who are higher in the CCP food chain than I am. In the past we have only reimbursed for longer server outages, and not for scheduled downtimes including longer downtimes for upgrades. I don't believe the downtime due to this has been anywhere near long enough to warrant some reimbursement, it's simply not mlong enough.

Some information about the startup issues, first try we lost nodes which caused an infinite loop, meaning we had to restart. Second try we lost a lot of nodes, we could have gotten Tranquility up, but decided to restart to get more nodes. So we're on restart 3 now.

Ok, it looks like the last startup worked, and with enough nodes, so Tranquility should be up now and open for business.
