Hell all! I', having some problems with EVE. As of yesterday, I am unable to connect. When I start up the EVE client, it tries a see Tranquility's status. However, it is unable to do so. If I ty to log in, I get an error message that says...
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
I know it's not the first two, so how can I fix my problems with the second? Also, EVEmon is unable to see my character too.
Thanks for your time and help. BIG Games! Come on pod boy, try your luck! |

Hi, which country are you in and which ISP are you with? Its most probably a firewall or some other app blocking your connection to Eve but could also be your ISP.

this is the address I leave active when playing eve, it used to help keep the connection alive during afk but since rev II I get 5 ping breaks every hour or so which disconnects the client and dumps me to desktop.
ping 87.237.38.200 -t ---------- Gallente and Minmater Faction standings transfer service, fast and efficient service, Eve-mail for info, 1 ready made corp available now. |

Just so you guys know, Clearwire Ireland blocks Eve Online. If any of you guys are in the U.S. and with Clearwire then the same may be happening to you.
If you're not with CW then forget i said anything, i just hate them is all

I am also getting the status unknown error -- and am unable to access eve-online.com (I'm doing so presently via Torpark). I ran tracert. Admittedly I know little about the results--but it did get out a good ways past my isp before it timed out at the 11th hop. . .
Everything was fine earlier today. Vexing.

When the Eve servers are taken offline for downtime (or crashes) the client will not be able to connect and give the same error that you'd get if your internet connection went down. The Eve client cannot "see" the Eve server, so it says Status Unknown. And do bear in mind that crashes can and will happen. Maybe not on the CCP side of things, but perhaps at various spots between your computer and the Eve server. _______________________________

Edited by: Kaythortik on 08/08/2007 05:42:31 Edited by: Kaythortik on 08/08/2007 05:40:22 Yes, same here. It doesn't matter where I log in, whether using my Home account or at Arizona State University, I only get Status Unknown. When I try to log in anyway, it says my connection to the server was closed.
I had started an earlier topic (http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=570328) thinking that since my ISP was having problems that they were the cause. Seems that is not the case.

You aren't the only one, just doesn't connect, timeout at authentication. Pinging ip but for few minutes no data loss, average time ~50ms -------- I tanked D2 capital fleet and all I got was truncated Erebus mail.

Edited by: Jan Losyn on 08/08/2007 10:41:10 I am also unable to connect to eve online and the website from home. This problem started tuesday the 7th when they were having server issues.
I am able to connect at work and my brother can connect at his house, he has comcast cable, but I am unable to at my place and I have verizon dsl. I live near Boston, Ma, USA.
I am unable to ping the eve website and if I connect into my dsl modem I am unable to ping the site from there, taking my pc out of the picture.
I called verizon and they tried to tell me that the issue was with the site I was trying to connect to. Luckily I work in IT and have experience with connectivity and networking. The tech, if you wanna even call him a tech, that I was on the phone with said that he could ping and access the site from his side.
By connecting into the modem and being unable to ping the site/IP I was able to prove that the issue was on the verizon side and not related with my pc. I tried a trace route but it seemed to timeout out the 7th hop, at one of the verizon servers.
I eventually got so frustrated by the verizon guys inability to help that I just had him give me a ticket number and went to bed without any eve
I hope that when I go home tonight that things are working again.

A corp mate of mine was having the same issue as Jan is above. He is also with Verizon and trace route is/was dropping in New York.
He contacted Verizon and they told him it was an issue with the game/web server. I went to bed so no idea what happened but it appears the trouble is still ongoing.

ok. I was not able to connect at all to either the web server or the game server. been trying many things. Verizon customer as well. I used a proxy server just to get to the forums so i could follow what was happening. However.....
after several attempts of resetting my dsl router, I FINALLY was able to get a new IP/PPP/DNS server/etc.. after a reconnection, I am able to get on.
I don't know that this will help everyone, or heck even anyone, but just a thought to pass along. Hope you guys/gals can reset your routers/modems/etc, and get back on Eve soon.

hi
im a verizon customer in the boston area and the same thing happenned to me yesterday afternoon
i can access all websites and email but eve-online is blocked
also when i ping eve i get a 100% packet loss
i managed to download a proxy service that lets me reroute traffic thru china, france, turkey, or 20 other countries, and that is how i managed to log onto here and post
i spent an hour with verizon tech support and they are very lame--they insisted that it was EVE's fault
also i filed a petition but i hope that some GM will read this and please fix whatever is wrong
to the previous poster--can you detail how you managed to reroute your traffic so you got around the verizon server?
ive tried dos commands to reset my IP address but that does not work as the problem lies somewhere in the verizon side
also ive replaced my computer with a stripped down computer with no firewall and no security just to test if it was a firewall or web security/cookie setting and that is not the case
if anyone has any solutions please post them!

I just tried and I am not able to access eve website and I can connect to eve online.
Not sure if verizon fixed the routing issue or what exactly.
If you have verizon and were having similar issues try it again.

After tinkering with ports, using a proxy, and even rerouting the ip address through a VPN of a friend, I am able to get it to work. Still, this wasn't something I had to deal with prior to the last extended downtime we had.
