Eh...
In my humblest of opinions, Asheron's Call 2 was one of the best made MMOs ever; I've seen them all.
I'd imagine that people from WoW aren't flocking to rate their game as one of the best because they're content to play their game and have fun.
As opposed to people from other games who spend their time surfing the net, voting in polls, and forum warrioring.
I'd imagine if someone from WoW saw this thread, or that poll, they'd say: "lolz, look at teh subs n00b."

All this poll shows is how many people that play each game are likely to vote on a meaningless internet poll.
WoW appeals more to the average person (Hence why it's so popular), the average person is unlikely to know mmorpg.com even exists.

Its basically a popularity poll the rating comes from an average based on what everyone votes for the games. This shows that EvE isant the most popular game right now so if you want it to be otherwise register a couple of accounts on hotmail for example and use them to create 2 voting accounts.

Guild Wars is not an MMO.
It looks and feels like one but it simply isn't; Anet/NCsoft even say "Guild Wars is not an MMO". kkai that's pretty conclusive, gg.
Has some of the most intense, thrilling and rewarding PvP I've ever experienced though. People who say that it's PvP is meaningless as you can't lose anything are beyond having their opinion taken seriously. You lost and you tried to win. That is all there is to it, you lose or you win. What do you gain? Satisfaction. What do you have to show for it? reputation - people know you, you get to fight the best, you get to play in the sponsored tournaments, hell, you might win some real cash if your team pulls through. But...when you die you don't lose an internet spaceship, it's just sooooo meaningless!!1
If you want to play a game where you [kilroy silk] feeeeuuuul [/kilroy silk] the losses and wins in material terms, play some online poker, you wimps.
What people don't like is not being able to make other people QQ, carebears and carebear killers are just two sides of the same, low value coin. It's a bizarre S&M relationship and I've no idea why either party enters into it willingly. a bit like marriage lolz.
Anyhow, personally I would call EvE online the best MMO ever, it's pure ******* class, bar the lag and this new-fangled desynch. Alas I don't think you'd be doing EvE any favours by ranking it. 'Cos you know what high rankings bring? CBs and CBK'ers "ZOMG NUMBA 1!11 LIEK WoW BUT MAW BETTA!". and more lag.
So, who's with me for getting modules to show up on the outside of your ship in the form of mushroom-like objects? The better the module the bigger the mushroom-like object.

Yup, with just a lot less l33tspeak on my part. As to why wow isn't on that list, although you've always got your trolls (and I'll admit wow has a lot of them) most wow players simply don't care about trying to attack other games and boost their own popularity. When guild wars came out (wow's most recent actually competitor... until it was released), the general attitude was "well, if you like guild wars better, quit wow and play that", if you tell them about eve online (which most would have never heard of), after you sort the trolls out the general gist of the information would be "hmm, that's nice, but why are you telling us?"

first , Guild wars is not an mmorpg, even the devs admit that.
EQ2 still around, i didn't know that.
wow is such a good game , in there next high priced, low feature expansion, they list the following as features.
grind to 80 making everything that was in anyway good at 70 worthless.
grind for your 'hero-class' in case 10 more levels wasn't enough grinding.
grind new faction reputations out, making your old faction grinding worthless.
a new profession to grind out, only being slightly usefull at max level.
'epic' siege warfare - i bet that it will be far from epic.
new hairstyles. - seriously.
new dances - not a joke either. most of the wow population simply dance naked anyway because they can't be bothered to grind in the repetitive task simulator that wow is.

your epic flying mount that cost you 100's of hours to get is worthless.
new dungeons - no reason to go to the old ones . the greatest treasures means your hard grinded loot that took you months to get is pointless now. prepare to grind again. at level 80 we will make a different class far better than the others so you can go grind one of those out for a few months before you hit puberty.

anyway as GW isn't an mmorpg ( no persistant world, 20 players max in one place at a time, apart from cities (or lobbies), CS is more of a mmo than gw) this means eve is number 3 on the list.
but EQ2 ? really ? still around ? who is playing it ?

In all honesty, how is this different from any mmorpg out there? eve included? That's kind of like saying "Omg, level 5 missions? well that's just more shooting space ships and taking their loot, it's the same stuff all over again" Mmog's don't radically change their gameplay in any xpack, saying "omg, more grinding and raids" in wow is simply stupid, the entire point of the game is grinding and raids, what else would they do?

Umm... they do. Destroyers are better than my velator, carriers are better than battleships, titans are better than carriers, ccp have been releasing ships that made old ones obsolete since they started making the game- What's a better fleet sniper? a battleship or a battlecruiser? Also, small point, eve has never had an expansion pack, so we have no idea what they'd do if they made one, I'd suggest that if ccp made one, the player base would ***** for a while, then shell out and buy it.

The reason Eve combat is better than WoW combat is I have seen a thorax fitted with lasers kill a raven. I have seen a arbitrator kill a abaddon. I have seen a Scorpion kill 4 gank fitted cruisers. There is no such thing as uber gear in eve, therefore nothing is ever obsolete. I have killed a CNR with a deadspace shield booster in a T1 blokh. It's all about fitting, timing, experience and strategy.
Oh btw, eve has never had an expansion pack?

Just because they label it an expansion pack doesn't mean it isn't a content patch. Exodus 1 I'll pay, that fundamentally changed the game. RMR maybe, I guess, possibly, could be seen as one, the rest by far have been patches (major I'll grant you, but with a patch every 6 months they'd better be), and nothing ccp marketing claims is going to change it
