Hola.
I'm a 4 month old caldari pilot, and im wondering what caldari ship type might best be suited for PvP 1 on 1. I understand that I'm unlikely to actually get a 1 on 1 encounter, but none the less. Im thinking anything up to cruiser size probably. I do fly a drake, but im a little cautious about going 1 on 1 pvp with it because of the damage it puts out. any ideas?

Yeah, a thorax or a vexor will get their way with any other cruiser easily.
Oh wait, you said Caldari.

Caracal with damps and speed mods can work but it takes a lot of skill to fly.
Damp target, keep target inside disruptor range but outside of lock range.
Bombard with missiles.
Not great but it works if you can fly it well enough. Get a t2 disruptor of faction if you can afford it for more room.
Crow is a great ship. DPS isn't going to break many tanks but you can practice tackling and what not. Plus if things go bad you can usually run the hell away.
Dunno of any other smallish Caldari ships that can solo. Caldari shine in gangs where their large number of mids means tons of ewar but solo they are usually too slow.

A scorp can permajam 2 targets, including a web and a scram
Raven with 4 multispectral jammers might also work, at least you get about double the DPS but get less scramble strength aswell so its a bit of a tradeoff.
Offcourse you must use amps for more ecm strength since the patch.

Those must be the biggest cruiser or less sized ships I've ever heard off.
Your best bet would probably be the crow which is by far the best damagedealing interceptor there is. Battle Badger is also high above the rest of the haulers and can often beat most t1 frigs even if they are prepared.
Caracals can do very very well, and even blackbird can suffice if they know what theyre up against.

If only the Blacbird could use drones. Sensor dampener drones on a blackbird would make it an absolutely awesome cruiser (although it's already damn good as it is). Kind of unfair that the Celestis can do the reverse. ------------------

8%
And with 5 of them it would be enough to drop a ships targeting speed a bit, which is great with ecm.
The Celestis can use 4 medium ecm drones. Loses a lot of dps though that way though.
And I guess with the Blackbird having more mid slots, it can just use a sensor dampener in one and would get more from it than it would from drones anyway. ------------------

Your best bet for solo pvp may be a blaster harpy, rail harpy or crow. They don't take all that much training to fly (well the crow does but the harpy not that much) and you'll have lots of fun with them.
Caldari cruiser? Hmmm, caracal probably, and you can also use a kestrel as a fun anti-frig. --- If someone else from my Corporation or Alliance agrees with me, he will say so. Assume nobody does :) --- WTB: Scorpion wing (left)

Nobody's going to solo PVP in a Blackbird. Celestis, possibly... but not a Blackbird.
Solo Caldari PVP frig/cruiser ... Gank Kestrel or Caracal tbh. With the Caracal - and then only with Precision missiles. Just don't engage anything larger than a Frig.

I would, although the one and only time I've actually gotten around to trying it so far I met a Stabber and barely got out alive. I jammed him and warped off just as his corp mate in a Hyperion warped in. ------------------

Well that's just about how any Caldari solo PVP is gonna go...

This guys has the right Idea. If you want solo PVP. I would strongly suggest switching to gallente and start out with the Vexor while working on both drone and blaster skills for the thorax.
While your still low on skillpoints, this is the best time to switch over. My alt is caldari. He had about 16-17 million sp for caldari before i switched him over to Gallente. Took along time to get him up to good skills with gallente but I have never regreted making the move, nor have I turned back.
Caldari do have a few good solo PVP ships such as the crow. You really don't want to be so limited to the ships you can fly... and pretty much forget about Battleships near the end-game.
Things you want for solo PVP include but are not limited to MWD/AB, webber, scrambler, cap injector, and often times a sensor booster. The first 3 are needed wich would give a caldari BS only 3 slots to tank with.... but then you need the cap injector to keep that tank running.

Drake or Crow.
Although, if 1v1 pvp is your thing, I would use your shield and missile skills to cross-train Minmatar. You don't have to train totally new skills as you would if you did Gallente, and Minmatar have perfect t2 shield resists so you can use your mids for tackling with just 1 kinetic resistance rig.

Follow my easy step guide to pvp 1. Open market 2. click on skillbooks 3. Purchase Gallente frigate/cruiser 4. Train both to lvl4 5. Purchase thorax/vexor 6. Load up with drones/guns 7. sit back and laugh as you punish the puny earthlings that try'd to use caldari for pvp
Caldari are excellent PVE ships, bit crap for PVP ------------------------------------------------ **** off with ur drakes tank! stop being a ***** and buy a raven with its massive sig radius and then TANK THAT! Pirates are pussies in Real Life - F |
