The 4th Alliance Tournament is just around the corner and the community has had a lot of questions about it. Nova has a new blog that addresses some of those concerns, while giving some background on the hows and whys of the newest version of the Tournament rules.
With EVE TV providing their excellent assistance and support, the 4th Tournament looks like it will be bigger and better than the previous three tourneys. Check out the 4th Alliance Tournament.

The rules and rewards can be found here.
Alliances have the option of competing in the name of NPC factions. If they choose to do so, they will be rewarded by the chosen faction. Not only does the team receive rewards, but the whole alliance behind the team. For the first time a special trophy has been created as well as medals. The winners name will be permanently etched on the trophy. The winners will hold on to the trophy until the next tournament. The medals are received as items and can be permanently added to the character profile once the design is in place.
The actual worth of the prizes is hard to judge, but it is certainly high and can benefit a lot of pilots.

LOL mutch needed Nos nerf my Armpit
only the caldri whine about it, cuse they have to drop there uber super max range max dam uber missiles, and tottaly overpowerd sheild tank.
what all the devs play Caldri?
or min with a gazzillion sp?
just copy the Caldri race Achura, and give waring to people not to skill anything else than Caldri, as they allways gets the shaft of things.
while the other skills for other races lacks so much its sad.
and why is there never a Tournament for more singel players.
or corps, why the big alliance ****, its just bs.
most players like to do a bit of solo stuff and should be able to have fun at the same lvl of the uber elite*****y tards.
we pay for the game as well, and we are alot of people.
why not give us something as well, its not like we ceep playing cuse we dot get stuff to do,
people just quit cuse they dont feel they can do anything
allmost all the new players feel, that **** i cant do nothing,
we have no chance in hell to build our own alliance, that can stand up to the old elite of players.
where is the fun for us rookis.
i think alot of the devs are in big alliance playing Caldri characters, and just seem to fix the game for them self, rhater than lissing to the players.
if one tard makes a post that is writen well, and the devs thinks is a good ide, they go for it, but they dont seem to care what like 90% of the players think,
make vots or something, so you can see what people think about it.
the nos do not need to be fixed, everyone can fitt one, or more, to there ship, and therefor its tottaly fair, and not over powerd,
what is overpowerd is Caldri start stats, sheild slots, and missile power, with no cap burn,
YEEE RIGHT.
ok i know you can skill all races, but that takes a **** long of time, to train for, and unless your from 2003 you cant have good skills in all races, it takes very long time to even train up to be good at 1 race, im at 7m sp now after about 6 months, and im barly able to fight in 1vs1 bs vs bs with other players.
then you find out your skills sucks for pvp gang fights, and you just get mad, and think its tottaly ****, Balance the game, befor you boost the other races that dont use cap,
Host a singel tourney as well.
im sure alot more people want that than a alliance tourny, with max skilled players.
its not like they are better than us, they just got more sp,making it allmost stupide to play on.
it ****es me of that you dont seem to give a **** about us rookis, and never give us a bone, oh nooooo the uber might quit the game.

And what about consulting the team of players that was put together? Since when did top PvPer's opinion become irrelevant?

The rules still look bad from where I'm standing, and this blog hasn't exactly changed my mind. I wont bother going in to detail (its been done many times before and by better people), but I'm sure you know the criticisms. I'm glad I'm not actively competing. --------

Unfortunately, tier 2 battlecruisers are still equal in point value to tier 1 ones.
Therefore, we will not see any Ferox, Cyclone and Prophecy in this tournament. At all. If I could make a bet with the GM team, I would without hesitation.

The handling of this tournament and the responsiveness of the staff assigned to it has been abysmal.
Hell, I emailed Kieron and even he didn't reply. I think CCP committed to doing this one, so they're going to do it, and this is the last tournament we'll see.

Perharps its because theres no enough events around the single player. I might also add the only events I see around is pvp events...thats its. I don't know about you but pvp gets boring after time...well if events are only pvp that is.

Wow. Are you even playing the same game I am?
You do realise that in 80% of pvp situations Gallente is the strongest race? They also have the strongest carriers/motherships/dreadnaughts?
Of the remaining 20% its 10% minmatar, 5% caldari, 5% amarr

Overall I think the new rules show promise. I'm not sure how you will show 20 pilots health on eve TV and still have screen left though!
One question - these assembly points from which we warp in. Will they be scattered at random or organized?
i.e. will team one always come from somewhere to the 'west' and team two from the 'east' or could they possibly end up coming from the same direction?
Also will they all be out of scan range of each other or could the teams get to see each other's ship types in advance?

well giving out a titan or motherships would be stupid without the risk involved to build them. But why wouldn't you give out unique ships?
Is this the end of owning ships that one will undock? I'm confused.. frist no more things like snowballs and now no more one of a kind ships? :( are you going to never release ships like this ever again :(
I don't get it, what's the point, a ship that no one wants to undock is not going upset balance in the game. beside one was just lost, so why not release another one. ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP

The whole interesting point about the tourney's where the special ships you could win, that is what got you fame if you won.
Also special things like people taking an impoc or other uber expensive ship to a tourney will be, well, really dumb now since the risk/reward is definatly to low.
So I hope it will be bigger and better but currently I doubt it. Because frankly what .0 alliance will actually care about the 30% standings increase?
Anyways good luck to everyone that enters .

The only comment I can give is that imo it just plain sucks that you allow implants.
Basically that means that every pilot needs to have a full pirate implant set before your team stands a chance at winning against bigger alliances.
Meanwhile you don't allow rigs and boosters...it just doesn't make any sense tbh.
If you would say "implants not allowed" then you'd see a lot more smaller alliances participating.
I brought this up several times but never got a decent reply to why.

Actually I think the current compromise is reasonable. Any half-decent pilot can scrounge at least a low grade set together. A high grade set is under a billion and will help you mission run/rat/whatever when not playing in the tourney. Replacing them after every match though would have been a nightmare.
This is the alliance tourney, not the paupers tourney. Get the alliance behind it and get your pilots some implants if they need them.

People complain in the same way that they complained for the last tournament. That one turned out fine, so at least have some faith. If anything, you should be embracing the rules, since the last tournament showed the variety of different setups that people can come up with when constrained by such rules.
If, afterwards, it turns out badly, then I'll eat my hat.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

Thank you, that helps.
Interesting. So you could end up with both teams coming in from a similar but not the same direction - so warping into the arena at 100km might drop you anything from 200 to 50km from the enemy, warping in at 0 might drop you anywhere from 100 to 0.

Idea for the reward.
Dear CCP, please consider this:
Among the other reward options could be the possibility to rename any Solar System (of those claimed by the winning alliance) to their liking. It will not alter the balance of power in the alliance warfare, but will contribute to the prestige and fame, I believe.

By the way, how far away are these beacons from the arena, and from each other? I would recommend a healthy distance. It may be nitpicking, but if you can use the onboard scanner to get information on the enemy team's ship selection during preparations, you might be able to get a slight advantage. This will cause complaints. Saves you a headache if the beacons are at least 15 AU apart

They will when collectors pay 80b per ship, a few ships sold means several hundreds of billions extra in the winning teams alliance wallet.
