Omega Corp opens the doors of the OC War Academy (ticker OC-U) for frigate pilots of all races (however Caldari or minmatar frigs will be used). Our goal is to train frigate pilots in the art of combat from small raids to large fleet engagements. Enrollment is limited to keep the class size manageable and there are only a few slots left. OC-U will reopen enrollment in 2-3 weeks for the second class. The first course will begin within a few days.
Free ships: All frigates are provided to Cadets fully equipped at no cost to you. Loss of frigates is not a concern. Learning from each combat operation and having fun is your primary objective.
Cadet pay: 250,000-500,000 per operation will be paid to cadets for maintenance costs of their frigate characters. Average military operations will last approx 2 hours.
Graduation/Sign-up Bonus: Cadets that excel in their training and display "the right stuff" will be offered a starting position within Omega Corp (the sponsoring parent corp) and receive a 10,000,000 sign-up bonus if the graduating Cadet accepts.
Once a member in Omega Corp you will make 10's of millions in just a few hours of corp mining ops. You will also get all the PvP fun you desire.
Who can join? Low skill point alt chars designed specifically for frigate combat are preferred as *clone travel will be required.
What skills do I need? Here are some of the basics.- High Speed maneuvering (MWD)
- Lvl 3 frigate (preferably Caldari or Minmatar)
- Missile Launcher lvl 3 (prefer 5)
- Heavy Missiles lvl 3 (prefer Cruise missile)
- Electronics lvl 3
- Long Range Targeting
- Sensor Linking lvl 1
- Navigation lvl 4
- Afterburner lvl 4
- Propulsion Jamming lvl 2-3
- Mechanic lvl 1
The OC-U Curriculum:
OC-U will close enrollment after a class of sufficient size is signed up. Each course passed will result in designations of Cadet, Adv Cadet and Sr Cadet.
**Cadets that display a mastery of a given course will be promoted to the next rank and moved on to the next course. Those that do not or do not display reasonable initiative will be dismissed. Training officers may dissmiss Cadets at their discretion.
Week 1 / Course 1 - Basic Drills: Cadets will participate in practice drills designed to teach proper coordination in squad manuevers such as unified warping (not gang warping), synchronized battlefield deployment and coordinated fleet movement.
They will also be trained in team oriented use of their frigates and its abilities from modules to weapons.
** Cadets earn 250k per training session
Week 2 / Course 2 - Raids: Adv Cadets will participate in "live fire" raids commanded by at least 1 OC officer. Targets will include targets of opportunity such as industrials and unescorted Battleships. Groups will vary in size from small raiding parties up to large swarms.
**Adv Cadets earn 350k per combat operation
Week 3 / Course 3 - Fleet Operations: Sr Cadets will participate in large fleet engagements beginning with fleets of 20+ up to finals of 30-50 ship battle groups.
Your metal will be put to the test in heart pumping flaming furballs of twisted wreckage and floating biomass.
**Sr Cadets earn 500k per combat operation
Warning: Omega Corp is at war with the Stain Alliance and misc corps. All advanced "live fire" combat operations will be performed using these enemies as training drones. At no time will acts of piracy against innocent targets be tolerated. If you have reservations about these facts then the OC War Academy is NOT for you.
How can I sign up? Come to the oc-public chat channel in game. Ask to speak to someone about joining the OC War Academy. You will be interviewed and told where to submit your application. Further instructions will follow.

Fetty: Actually we decided to accept new cadets and train them in stages. Seems to be working out pretty good.
Panzers Statement:What he is referring to is that in early retail OC had "investment accounts" which had a 200% payout on withdrawal. A certain investment amount was required to receive a larger discount on ships. He brought his account to that level, got a ship and quit within a day or so of bringing his account to that level. His account was paid out at 200% however the "additional" discount was deducted from his total as it was quite obvious what he was trying to pull. For the record his account payout still totalled around 150% of the original investment even after the "additional" discount had been deducted. I stand by the decision and believe it was more than fair.

What Dreamworks says is correct, several OC-fighters have agreed to "retire" from these forums since it seemed to hurt OC more and more by every "kill post" we made.
We have been keeping up the good work in killing SA ship, but stopped posting about it.
I must however commend EV and the rest of SA on their late efforts to put up a fight. /emote *thumbs up*
Have a nice day everyone, c ya on the battlefield.

If so I wouldn't mind learning something new. Change is the spice of life.

Don't recall the exact reasons for his leaving just the circumstances of his account... hmmm, too much time in the accounting mines
Fetty: When I originally set up the curriculum we had been in some large battles that the previous patch had seemed to eliminate much of the lag. However the large battles we've been in recently have shown that the lag has returned to a stupifying level. At this point we are attempting to keep battle sizes down.
CCP: For the love of all that's holy please do something about the battle lag!
Foxhunt: We are looking for those that are available for recruitment once they graduate. Nobody is obligated of course, however we want a fair shot at picking up the graduates.

Admiral Rimmer: OC-U uses frigs for training and we use frigs in fleets however we do not use frigs exclusively. Those that wish to remain frig pilots do so and those that eventually join OC move on to larger ships if they like. We generally use a balanced fleet model utilizing the strengths of each ship class.

Sir Smythe... My guess is no. Because Amarr are next to useless for PvP until you can fly an Apocalypse battleship (while Caldari and Minmatar has many very useful cruisers and frigates).

Well this opportunity seems promising but Im a bit confused as to how to actually get involved.
As instructed in the original post I went to the OC public channel. From 8:00am to 11:30am I was there this morning trying to get some information. I'll paraphrase the exchange:
*********************************
Me: I heard this was the place to come to find out about the War Academy.
(10 minute pause)
OC: Yes
Me: Ok, so are you guys still admitting members?
(10 minutes pause)
OC: Yes we are
Me: Ok, so what do I need to do?
(20 minutes pause)
Me:(again) So what do I need to do to get into your program?
(10 minute pause)
OC: You need to talk to an OC officer.
Me: Ok, are there any officers online now I can speak to? (13 minute pause)
OC: Yes
Me: Ok, could I have their names so I can get some information.
(pause)
OC: Im an officer.
Me: Ok, can I talk to you about this?
(30 minute pause)
rinse and repeat
Me:(eventually) Thanks, C ya
***************************

So...
To avoid a repeat performance could someone recommend a specific person(s) I can contact regarding this matter?

Ermmm, well...
First, the 'exchange' script was just a bit of good natured ribbing bud... hence the laughy face after it. I have recently come out of EVE retirement to see what the game has to offer now. When I was last here I had very good experiences with OC and thats why I was inquiring in their edge of space now that Im back. I hope its sense of humor hasnt become a casualty over the past few months.
Second, thanks for pointing out that timing thing, It never occured to me people are in different timezones.
Third, I completely understand folks get busy... thats not a prob bob. BUT that the fact that I repeatedly asked the same question and waited, waited, waited while other conversations were continuing between the same people while I sat there twiddling my thumbs was discouraging to my patience.
Either way, no big deal. Im just messin with yaz. I had some nice conversations with some of the folks on the channel while I was there.
But thanks anyway... Good luck out there!

It is a fact that many times you will not get much of a response. We run military ops nearly 23/7. It can be very distracting from chat channels ;)
However, if you are truly intersted and have some patience you'll get through. Weekends are VERY hectic as with most people the largest operations occur then. Most of our training missions are held during the week for this very reason.

It depends. We sometimes accept members directly into OC if they have a good source of references to check out. Otherwise they need to prove themselves through the academy first.

Well, as someone who didn't play beta, I learned fast about how combat worked from NPC killing, which I did ALOT, and then just added that I had to forsee what tricks a player could use in PvP...
But as 1. NPC killing isn't anywhere near as profitable as it was, 2. the PvP has developed much more with new rules and tactics, and 3. Most players have big ships and many skillpoints, it seems to me that it's hard for new players to learn PvP. Most of them tend to sit there and mine until they get a battleship, then travel out in low-sec and loose it right away, just to do it all over and over again without ever learning or enjoying combat.
As you're the only corp I know running something like this...

Hello OC/OCWA,
Thanks for all the help and advise so far
Balmer, Letum & Ralith have been great.
I went the website and follow a very good tutorial while at work today, but once I got to #omegacorp mIRC said no such chatroom, or something similiar.
I am nearing my training completion, 1 more week or so (including Minmatar & Caldari Cruise Missle, that's the long one) and I'll be "qualified."
Are interviews done ingame or on another mIRC?
Thanks again for all the help getting me started!

Actually the website hasn't been updated for over a year, alot of the contact info is out of date as most of us dont use IRC anymore. Go to the OC-PUBLIC channel and get ahold of someone there.

Its easy to learn pvp if you join the corporation that is willing to spend time and trouble and efford into your 'training'. This is what oc-u is all about. - - -

I guess every major corp has a decent training program. At least they should have. So it speaks positively for your corp to engage newer players in the game more actively. Makes the game more exciting for us all.

Sometimes we are really tied up with fights etc (not every OC member can interview you) but i urge you to give it a new try. If that doesŠt help send me a convo (and iŠll talk to you unless iŠm in a battle )

Yeah we cannot respond to anyone instantly because we dont have a PR guy or anyone who monitors the channel, everyone in that channel is constantly preparing for or are fighting.
Its not a mather of disrespect or lack of interest, so we ask forgiveness if we do not answer you. Maybe its an idea if we would use an alt ppl can email to for an personal conversation so we can get back to people if we do have the time. Thats discussion food. __________________________

Who can join? Low skill point alt chars designed specifically for frigate combat are preferred as *clone travel will be required.
clone travel? what the hell? tell me you don't use a game mechanic like this as a real way to travel...

Xalshon, yes we do use clone travel and ccp even wrote fictional background concerning the use of clone travel as a viable method of travel. There was supposed to be interbus which never materialized however clone travel took its place.

I say it for the last time, the fact that frigs can fire battleship weapons is utter bull****. I hope that CCP will prosper by selling out to the carebears (I have my serious doubts they will) and they can just ask their new community manager what happend to his old mud.

Torps cannot be fit silly, thats cruise missles. And even if we can't fit cruise missles, frigates would still be of good use. __________________________
