im gallente and i thought that rails were better than blasters... so far i have not had problems with the rails i usually get them before the falloutof about 7k but if blasters are better im gonna be upset

The only problem with blasters is that you have to get very, very close.
Destroyers are paper thin. You probably won't live long enough to get close.

Define "better" (c) CAS corp channel.
Rails usually recommended for newbies as "more safe" weapon. Longer range, less skills to train, lower requirements.
Blasters require more skills in Engineering and Navigation than rails and eat more CAP and PG.

most gallente ship are blasterBoat, but the destroyer use rails, if you cant fit a rack of t2 small rails it really own against t1 and t2 frig, and great support agasin cruiser.
it mean to be long range and support the fleet :)

if you're talking about the catalyst--
typically the ship is meant to be fitted with blasters. that's the gallente style, and the falloff bonus reflects that although this does not stop you from fitting rails. blasters + paper thin catalyst = recipe for disaster.

For most uses, put rails on destroyers. The Flying Coffin does best if it can kite its adversary.
For suiciding a ship in high sec, use blasters.

Catalysts get a humongous bonus to falloff, but a penalty to rate of fire. This means railguns are IN and blasters are OUT.
Simply, blasters have a horrible range. Your signature radius is large, meaning if you get close to anything, they will likely hit you. Which is bad. You getting hit multiple times = you dead. Further, the falloff was designed with railguns in mind, so another point to that.
With a slew of lowslots, you can also fit some damage mods OR even some decent tracking enhancers. These are all up to the pilot of course, but I recommend fitting at least one tracking enhancer.
Use railguns, sit out way far, and snipe them down.
Catalysts were BUILT for 125mm Tech 2 railguns. If you can jam them on, fit 150s instead. Use Spike, watch frigates and other destroyers cry. And with some skill, make Cruisers get angry at you.
