Edited by: xHalcyonx on 10/08/2007 02:22:00 After having just participated in a battle wtih 2x hostile Crows and 1x nano-ishtar against me in my Stabber and my gangmates (Myrm, Typhoon, Tristan, Crow) I can happily say that nano-ships are the most fun I've ever had in any game. Some of you may say "OMG hax" or "gj lamer" but it requires that you think to outgun, outsmart, and outmaneuver your enemy.
I wish to issue a challenge to the EvE-community as a whole: for one day of PvP try out a nano-ship and your will see you adrenaline spike like never before.

I issue a counter challenge. That every PvP pilot puts away their Vagabond, Nano-Ishtars, Nanophoons, Machariels and actually... I dunno... TAKE A RISK ONCE IN A WHILE.

Since flying a ship that has a paper thin tank and is vulnerable to anything that can either match it's speed or land a web isn't risk enough.
It isn't the speed tanked pilots' fault if everyone else is too incompetent to kill them. ---

Hey! Leave my mach out of this! It doesn't have a single speed mod aside from the Gist X MWD. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire

Because truly, these 'paper thin tank' ships die constantly, and spontaneously explode when webbed, never, ever, coasting back to the gate or out of scram/web range. Indeed, I can't say I remember a single time, ever, when a nanoship escaped after I had webbed it.

TBH I love nano ships, they are the only way for a single person to have any sort of chance against a larger sized force. They are beatable if people apply some common sense and tactical thinking.

Speed fitting your ship is really the only viable way to pvp solo nowadays, from what I have seen/experienced anyways. It is all too uncommon to be able to engage in a 1v1, I dont mind blobs this is an MMO and all, I just think of speed fits a CCPs response to blobs.

Of course, should everyone take the challenge, such nanoboats would lose their speciliaty and much of usefulness.
There is kind of balance anyway : fast nanoships are hard to kill, but tend to yield nice loot.
For me, it feels like choice between flying something nimble and fun, or something clumsy and effective.

Luckily nano ships have the same fatal flaw of every other ship, a human pilot. Outsmarting a nano pilot is paramount in catching them, not saying that some are just stupid and*****y in the first place and thus not that hard to catch.
However, find yourself a nano pilot who knows what they're doing, someone not cought up in a frenzy for kills (see: webbing them when they try to bump you), and you'll never catch them. Throwing isk at the nanoship simply widens the margin for error, a proper nano mach is already considerably harder to take down than a vaga or curse. (see: faction nos & neuts + snakes)
That is the inherent problem with nano ships, you can blame incompetence all you want but at the end of the day an expirienced nano pilot will know when to bugger off, how to avoid uncloaking rapiers, and when they have a chance for a kill. With a conventionial setup you can be smart, but your limited by the basic gameplay foundations on which sub km/sec combat operates on. With a nano ship you start out above basic pvp foundations such as non-recon webs, more so if you throw some cash at your nano. (see: definition of overpowered) Theoretically you can still die, but that what your brain is for, avoiding that minimalized thread of loosing your ship. Stick a smart nano pilot against a gang of similarly expirienced non nanos (even a gang with a rapier or huggin in it) and its extremly unlikly they'll actually catch and kill the nanoer. ---

Hmmmmm I would actually say a rapier/Huggin is death to any Nano ship, especially if there in a small gang. One web makes any nano ship a paper boat.
If People are investing 1.5 bil in implants and another 1 bil on a mach plus another 3 bil on Mods, don't you think they should be a lil bit harder to kill???

The new remote mass agumentor module will help a lot with this issue.
Will give non huggins a chance.

Imo, nano is a viable tactic.
Like devs mentioned in some of live blogs, as long as if your caught, your dead, its a fine tactic to use.
I use both, speed setups and tank/gank setups. Each of them is viable not only for specific ship but also for specific situation that ship going to face.

What? Take a risk once in awhile?????
If you nano ANYTHING thats a HUGE risk. You have no tank man. Damps + Webbing inty = dead nanoship. Hugin = dead nano ship. Sniper = dead nanoship. What is so not risky?
After the nano nerf if you have trouble with a nanoing bs you should get smacked. Really.
The existence of nanoships forces gangs to be more varied. If you are so ****ed bring some anti nano setups. It's really not hard once you stop whining and think about it.

I pray that you are wrong. That module would be fantastic addition. It just need to be balanced a bit. 50 to 75% mass woudl be ok
