I use this for running L3 missions solo for the last week. I can manage all of them I've tried but I haven't tried Blockade solo though.
High: 5x650mm Prototype Siege Cannon, 3x 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay Med: 10MN Afterburner II, Large Shield Booster II, 1xNamed Shield Resistance Amplifier, 2xNamed Shield Hardeners Low: 2xNamed PDS,1xNamed Gyro,Overdrive
For resistances it depends what enemies I am expecting to face. If I don't know I fit a passive EM, an active EM and an active Thermal to get everything but kin up above 60%.
The overdrive is there because I can't fit anything more useful yet, I have only about 0.15 CPU left. When Weapon Upgrades IV finishes training I should be able to fit either another damage mod or another PDS.

No, just no. At 2.5mil SP you don't have enough SP for a BC, let alone a BS (or Command Ship O.o The pre-reqs for CS's take up more than that...). I'm not saying you couldn't get in a BC with that many skillpoints, but you wouldn't be able to fit it, or fly it worth a damn.
Fly a cruiser at most with your current skillpoints, or better yet, a frigate. 2.5mil SP could make for a decent rifter setup (that's if 1.5mil of your SP isn't wasted in ship command). ----------------------------------------------

I have 2 million SP. I have posted my BC fitted earlier in the thread. It runs L3 missions pretty well. Getting comfortable to the fitting has taken a few days, there still are areas I would love to improve on. I'm sure that I would suffer if put head to head with another BC pilot in PvP, but then I have no experience either. The OP wants to run missions.
Having seen the problems of fitting a BC firsthand, it just means you have to make more compromises and really decide which of the T2 mods you need most. I've been flying a BC for about 10 days and have been running L3 missions for half of that time.
The BC has helped my objective ( to run missions and have fun, learn about the game and make cash doing it ) so I don't see how it is necessarily bad idea for the OP. I don't think I'm particularly special.
What I have learned is that I did take a number of risks by going to BCs this early, although I think using a Cruiser in the L1-L2 transition was a bigger one and harder to deal with than the transition from Cruiser to BC. I suspect the jump to BS ( another proper size up ) will probably be much harder and is not one I'm planning to take for a while.

If you plan on playing for a while, your first 2.5 mil SP should be in Learning skills anyways.

Words like those make people leave the game. At least let the bloke have some fun while he skills up.

learning skills make no real difference to your first few ships - it's only when you're looking at t2/battleships/whatever that they are even remotely useful beyond shaving a few hours off the training times. i miss more time by forgetting to set a skill than i save from my hard trained learning skills. they're a rubbish idea.
as for setting up minnie ships, the basic concepts are an artillery setup with gyro stabilisers, sensor boosters and an assortment of tracking mods, or an autocannon setup with a tank of some description (which sort depends on the ship and your skills) and something to get you within range before they fly off.
the artillery setup usually needs better ship fitting skills, since they use more grid etc, although a MWD on the AC setup can be a pain in the arse to fit. don't forget drones either - they can make the difference between an average setup and a sucessfull setup. Well worth training them even if you're not flying a drone boat.
great ships though.

i have played for 2 and a half month. I got fun as soon as i log on... Like yesterday i made my 3 first merlins with my mining chara Queen Azalien. And i got them sold like 5min later to same person. Well i have come to BS state. I had a BS and BC but i lost my BC in our low sec and my retriver total worth 88 mil. Cause the cylone had rigs worth 40mil and then alot of t2 mods. Well my BS is now equip with good mods. I just gonna incress my shield resistance and such and i just noticed that a EM invul field or what to call them realy pwns :D. My point is that i find out things on my own mostly why but my friends tells me what. a Amarr pilot gave me setup on my cyclone. Realy pwned. THen he gave me the setup for a maelstrom. and it realy sucked. But he helped me a short way then i changed it to be more play able :D So now it pwns then ****. :D Many smiles in this replay. Well my point is that the time you spend on the long time skills is worth it. So start to play this game then start no matter how long it will take. There is allways things in the game to do. But i prefer to get 2 accounts one for pve/pvp and one for mining/manufacturing ;D Cya i hope you guys and ladies reading all :D

Tell me one thing. All then i mean all are going in to a BC around 1.2 mil sp - 1,8 mil sp. No one cares about a BC they are cheap. Until you put rigs on it. My friend had 1,8mil sp and soloed a lvl 4 mission with it. Nearly atleast he did tank but he had another account wich did the dps so he soloed it all with his drake. How do you explain that. THat 2.5mil sp isnt enough. Tell me. You are stupid Kalazar who belives it isnt enough. How come that he can solo lvl 4 mission. He can tank that damg. Through your eyes it is impossible. Maybe. But it ISNT. You are so redicoloues. a BC can do evrything if you train right and get right mods. That is what it depends on mostly. a bs is abit diffrent tho. So explain that 2,5mil sp isnt enough. It isnt enough for pvp moron. But for missions it is alot over ok

Never thought I'd agree with Triumv on something but the man is right. You are far from having bs skills. Fly a bc at most ( to enjoy the game ) while skilling up for bs. Get t2 autocannons or learn to fit a nano-phoon, your choice, but u're looking at a few months ahead of you.
EDIT : Actually for smacktalking that way Azalien you need to be woken up and smell your **** SP. I would pop your malestrom in less than 20 secs, I just hope I will find u somewhere.

Learning skills make ALL the difference lmao. At least get them all to lvl4 and get a set of +4s, then start training for bs5 or whatever and see how much it shaves off (from a 70 day base training time u end up somewhere at 35 )
