That's right, Split Infinity Radio is doing another King of the Ring competition.
The rules are simple:
Minimum of 8 people for contest to take place Rookie / Newbie Ships only No Named, Tech 2, Faction, Deadspace, Officer, COSMOS, or any named modules or ammunition. That means Tech 1 vanilla fittings only. Boosters and rigs are not allowed. Target jamming modules and drones are allowed. Sensor dampening and tracking disrupting modules/drones are allowed Logistics drones are allowed. Ships will be scanned before it starts. Competitors will have ships scanned for fittings before contest begins. Start with two (2) competitors in the ring. Winner of the 1v1 will have 1 minute to repair (no leaving system) then next player will enter ring to begin combat Each round will last till a ship is destroyed. No podding pilots Last man standing wins.
To register, please evemail SoulBlythe in-game with the character you would like to participate with. Confirmation evemail will be sent with gathering location for contest. All registrations must be submitted by downtime August 15th.
Prizes: 1st: 50 Million ISK 2nd: Tech 2 Frig of players choice 3rd: Free Viewing of EVEtv

2 questions: What time a day are you planning to hold this fight? And what ships do you consider Rookie / Newbie Ships? (t1 frigates i guess, but would like to be sure)

The contest will be during Singularity which starts at 2000 evetime. Rookie / Newbie ships are just that, those wonderful frigs you get when you first start playing EVE or show up in a station in only a pod.

The ring is around 80km total in size horizontal with no vertical limit.

ouch! I have alternative prizes for 3rd place but I do not think someone wants 23 units of amarrian wheat or the asston of thermodynamic skillbooks I have.
Seriously though, it is something I will consider when the time comes.

Actually, for those of us who are happy to pay weekly for EVE-TV's hard work and dedication (and ultimately to help contribute to the funds which will provide even better features in the future), the third place prize is a good one. I personally would be quite happy to win it.

hmm, i do have one question though :). Will i be allowed a support ship? like a mate in a ship to recharge my cap and stuff in the 1 minute slot between rounds (if i win a round).
