Quote: LeKjart - The advent of the dungeon like scenarios will stimulate exploration, as well as more frequent storyline events. In the long run though, it is difficult to have secret places secret for long, as they quickly become well advertised outside of the game.
The areas would not need to remain secret for long. Instead they would move around randomly once emptied.
Example, a debris field spawns near planet 2 moon 2 in Tamo. The debris field is the result of a pirate attack and thus protected by n NPC cruisers and n NPC frigates (protection based on reward)
An explorer comes across this field and sells the bookmark on escrow or trade channel.
A team goes in, kills the npc's and starts to salvage the debris. Instead of mining, you have salvage lasers which cut the debris into chunks, although game wise it could work the same as mining, ie appear in cargo hold.
Skill tree could be like deep core mining, but salvage based. Haulers come out to retrieve the cut up debris (ie mined) and transport it to base.
There it can be refined to provide trade items like RAM etc in limited quantities and perhaps a limited mineral amount.
The debris field is of a limited size and can be salvaged for a limited time only. New pirates may spawn up and until the debris field is cleared out.
Once empty or after a set timer eg 1 week (which ever is earlier) the debris field vanishes, it no longer exists.
At a later random date new debris fields spawn throughout eve.
Thus its impossible to put the locations on a website as their not static. Unlike existing abandonded stations etc.
It gives explorers something to do. It gives an alternative way to aquire limited trade items and maybe even once in a blue moon a bp at a spawn protected by several pirate battleships etc.
The reward debris size and protection strenght would be directly related to the protection and not just the system security.
Debris fields could also spawn deep space (midwarps) thus requiring a dedicated tracker using mwd's to find them. These are more useful for finding as its more likely they will still be there when you buy/trade the bm. But then again, after the timer expires or another player mines them, they vanish..
Just my idea anyway :P Same thing goes for random blackholes that provide instant travel to a deep space area. If you find it at a mid warp, you might be able to use it for a few days before it moves on. If it moves while you in deep space, then you have to travel the 40+ jumps back to empire through hostile territory, its the risk you take for instant access to deep space. Again, could be protected by npc pirates and randomly move after a set timer.
