BoB Radio	Posted - 2007.08.11 16:37:00 - [1] Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. That time of the year has come around again when Kirkland comes upto another record here at Band of Brothers radio. He is coming upto the 200th hour DJing in total over the time he has been with us. To celebrate this we are having another giveaway at BoB Radio, You may remember his 100th hour giveaway where over 4 billions worth of gear was won by you, the adoring EVE public. However this is an entirely new feat which deserves a all new competition. The competition we speak of wont require you to spend any of your hard earned isk only take a ticket number and listen to see if it is drawn for your chance to win one of the hundreds of goodies we have to give away. We will also have mini games for mods which will take place on our IRC channel (irc.coldfront.net - #bobradio) that will entail Kirkland asking questions on the air and then people whome answer them right will win prizes :). All in all its going to be a fun show to spend your saturday afternoon and win some EVE related goodies :). Some information about DJ Kirkland: He generally plays a mixture between Dance (Funky/House/Trance/Hard) and Rock (Nu School (Disturbed etc)) and likes to have a good chat to keep you all entertained. His show will take place on Saturday between 13:00 EVE Time and 19:00 EVE Time. All donations will be greatfully received and all credits will be given to the people whome donate in this thread along with on air during the show. (All donations will be used in the giveaway, we dont keep anything.) You can listen to Band of Brothers Radio by going to Http://www.bobonair.com/ and clicking on the listen button :)

We will have two systems for prize winning. 1 will come in the way of a lottery system where you get a ticket and prey it comes out. a second will be an IRC giveaway which will takeplace live on air :)

This because of possible phising attempts and aimed hacking attempts, especially with an weak password intentions can be good here but you never know and an unknown character can pretend to be them and fake a link. Additionally your character CAN be linked to an email account and IP address by these means and are stored in an server side database out of your or ccp their control. My personall feeling about the forced to be identified trough eve browser sites is a negative one and i would therefore urge people to consider the potential risks and if possible use an alt account if they dont want to be identified. Also my recommendations are to be carefull with your other data (email and IP) and only participate if your absolutely sure that none of the information could potentially result into consequences for you by either digital or real means. I especially urge and notify about this because of an very recent case where someone was tracked in real life and was assaulted over virtual property and unfortunately did NOT live to tell. Guide to fix eve problems. Patch day recommendations

Thanks for that warning however please be aware there is nothing melicious about this competition intended, its simply to give back to the community that has brought us so much joy over the years. <3

It is to prevent openings forming up because on this event people could trust the organising people that they do not think about it the next time. Personally i was horrified about hearing someone was first taken hostage for an game account to provide his password to the people who kept him hostage but once he did not cooperate they beat him up and left him there to die, help arrived to late and the person died before he reached an hospital. You can never be to sure about people their intentions how good they may be or look like but once PII (personable identifiable information [SP]) comes into the equation people should be really carefull. Once PII's has been gained like IP (tracable to country / state / city or even post code area) or an email it sometimes gives enough information to actually start traceing people. An truely dedicated person can then perform various operations to get the final information depending how well (or not) this information is shielded from outside sources. An example would be someone who uses the email address "A.Bernarz@random_mailprovider.it" (these names are made up and not related to anyone i know). With this email address you have 3 parts of needed information namely: You know his or her name starts with an A You know his or her name ends on Bernarz You can assume he or she lives in italy (the extention of the email address). Connected with an ip who matched up on the signup for example 22.22.22.22 this becomes the first part where an foothold has been established. There are lookup tables and some providers even provide customer names and addresses if for example someone fakes an criminal investigation organisation (its an often used example). This may mean they now are able to get hold of your home address or when they fail they can try a phonebook lookup matching the names (this only works well if the IP lookup actually returned a GEO-zone. With this i hope people become more aware about mistakes that can be made by providing PII (even if you did not realise it as much). I just urge people to look at each case with great care so this does not happen to them and always approach with to much caution rather then to little because people who want money no matter how it is achieved generally do not care if and how much they destroy your life (infact although pretty heavy words to say but a dead victum does not speak). Guide to fix eve problems. Patch day recommendations
