"Blobs" are made of of individual people wanting to fight. The very second you start penalizing people for wanting to fight or engage in any kind of combat is the second you destroy the fabric of this game. You can ***** and whine and throw around the term "blob" all you want but the fact remains that the "blob" you refer to, this faceless menace that you're so angry at, is comprised of many paying customers all wanting a piece of the action.
Titans were a good idea in theory but then you had super-rich power gamers running around dropping them on top of ten man gangs, effectively griefing everyone in the game out of a fight. If you add anything to the game that can effectively 'kill' a 'blob', which, as I said, are individual people, you entirely ruin the game: we proved this with Titans, and even BoB can admit that when your enemy can't or won't engage because someone has a 'blob killer' the game becomes unfun.
Infiniband and RDMA are extremely powerful tools. If CCP can pull off a good implementation of DX9/Infiniband/RDMA in Rev 3, we could be having systems with 600 people in them all with only 2-3 seconds of module lag and almost no client lag. If they don't help, and I'm fairly sure they will, then CCP and the community can start thinking about reworking different aspects of the game: but only as a last resort.

How else do you expect people to defend territorial assets? Not use stargates?
Quote: I always agreeded that titans were overpowered. I do not agree with their "fix." They could have just as easily bumped up the cost of using a DD. Limiting ship capabilities after using one (ie half module efficiency for 10 min = no insta recharge cap) would have also proved useful. There were no problems beyond the titan cap cost or cost of using it.
Yes because camping a gate in an invincible ship that can blow an entire fleet away with a single large bubble and one single button push is entirely fair and balanced. And lets not forget C3-, where both Orange Species and Shrike would set off a doomsday every 30 minutes, and where your capitals didn't even need a support fleet because any time we moved ours into position they'd just blow us away. CCP saw these problems and nerfed the ships accordingly and no amount of *****ing will bring your invincible killing machines back from the dead (thank god).
Quote: Bombers had so much potential to be the right choice to fix the problem. CCP goofed when they made bombs stationary requiring the bombers to get right on the fleet. There were so many better options like allowing area of effect missle, but again, people whining about cost v effectiveness would have come into play. The result is the joke that is bombs and bombers.
You basically want to kill a lot of ships with as little effort as possible. That isn't going to happen and you're acting like a whiner.

Are you really serious? Is this what your directorate tells you every time you lose a fleet battle? Every single person in local is someone wanting to fight. Do you HONESTLY believe that the "lag blob" you refer to isn't also ****ed off at the lag and the client issues and the desyncs and all of that crap? Do you HONESTLY believe that they don't want those issues fixed as soon as CCP can manage to fix them? You can't prohibit people from coming.
I've seen plenty of times where BoB has also brought 250+ people into a system, so don't give me this crap.

You can't simply "switch teams" or boot people off the server if there are too many people. This isn't Counterstrike. People with a numerical advantage cannot be penalized because it "isn't fair." If the servers can't handle the numbers then the servers need to be upgraded: exactly what CCP is attempting to do. Do you honestly think I haven't lost a ship to a hardlock or client/module lag? Do you honestly think that we don't want to fight? If I wanted the game to stay as it was I wouldn't be happy that CCP was rolling out Infiniband, RDMA and DX9, which will solve many of these problems.
No, I don't think you do, because you're just a trolling ****head. I'll be signing out of this thread now.

Yes. All this will be doing is moving the graphical processing away from the CPU to the video card. It should actually run quite a bit faster, because at the moment the engine isn't efficient and forces the CPU to do everything. Theoretically there should be no more client hardlocking or 'slideshows' when Revelations 3 hits, especially on machines that have a moderately good video card/CPU.
