Titans were a good idea in theory but then you had super-rich power gamers running around dropping them on top of ten man gangs, effectively griefing everyone in the game out of a fight. If you add anything to the game that can effectively 'kill' a 'blob', which, as I said, are individual people, you entirely ruin the game: we proved this with Titans, and even BoB can admit that when your enemy can't or won't engage because someone has a 'blob killer' the game becomes unfun.
Infiniband and RDMA are extremely powerful tools. If CCP can pull off a good implementation of DX9/Infiniband/RDMA in Rev 3, we could be having systems with 600 people in them all with only 2-3 seconds of module lag and almost no client lag. If they don't help, and I'm fairly sure they will, then CCP and the community can start thinking about reworking different aspects of the game: but only as a last resort.
Your corp mates and leadership weren't complaining about the 10 man gangs blowing up. They were complaining about the 200 - 400 foolishly jumping into bubble camps repeatedly and suffering for it.
I always agreeded that titans were overpowered. I do not agree with their "fix." They could have just as easily bumped up the cost of using a DD. Limiting ship capabilities after using one (ie half module efficiency for 10 min = no insta recharge cap) would have also proved useful. There were no problems beyond the titan cap cost or cost of using it.
Bombers had so much potential to be the right choice to fix the problem. CCP goofed when they made bombs stationary requiring the bombers to get right on the fleet. There were so many better options like allowing area of effect missle, but again, people whining about cost v effectiveness would have come into play. The result is the joke that is bombs and bombers.
