Not to derail the thread with color commentary...
Has anyone noticed that the people who haven't trained Thermodynamics find heat to be relatively useless, while the people who have are uniformly supportive of heat's role in EVE? The poll answers are pretty much homogeneous in this respect.

Good for oh **** run moments or a 'lil extra push during a close fight but it's a bit limited (and makes the interface even more fiddly). ------------

There are plenty of other things that are still broken that need fixing. Heat is just a gimmick.

No need for lengthy discussions, simple Y/N is enough.

I place heat under the same category as EVE Voice, a novelty gimmick. I have to grant that heat has potential to evolve into something useful, which can't be said about EVE Voice.

Just a gentle bump with some stats:
1: 19 of 36 people have heat skills trained. 2: 14 of 19 people who have them trained also use them to overload their modules. 3: 19 of 36 people feel that heat is a good thing in general. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

overheating is not a "all-times must-be-active" function.
it's a "I need only a bit more range" or "only 5 more seconds to reach the gate" function ---

Yes Yes Yes, but its not useful enough just yet, if the heat dissipated faster or the modules had more HP I think it would help.... prob would just end up over powered though.

Edited by: LVSOCOM on 12/08/2007 21:10:21 1) Yes. Lvl4 2) Have tried it. 3) No. The effects on overloading say an active tank, damage the modules far too quickly even with lvl4 to do anything useful. I may get about 45 seconds out of overload just 2 Large Armor Rep IIs before something on my tank looses its hitpoints and totally negates the bonus received by repping more and faster. Conversely, the difference in DPS tanked by only overloading these two mods is too low to really change the tide at the last minute of a fight. In order to do so, I have to overload both reps and my 3 active hardeners. In which case, my mods are guaranteed melt down in about 3-4 cycles of the reps (max of around 30-40 seconds before I'm missing a few).
Only use I have found is overloading my weapons when suicide ganking. 7.8x dmg mod on a thorax with cruiser IV and al t1 mods ftw.
