Hello, I dont know if this has been discussed before so if it has please give me the link to the thread ...
I'm wondering if there is a reason why we can not define ourselves the coordinates of our warping points ? I'd find really interesting to be able to precisely define it ( by giving an x,y,z position in system to warp to manually ). This could go with a set of skills to improve warping distance and accuracy.
besides we could keep the actual warping system as presets of coords to warp to stations, moons, gates, etc ...
It would be interesting in exploration too. I mean you could pinpoint the location of something with 3 scan results by triangulating it yourself ( would be fun :) ).
As we can find someone anywhere in a system with probes, I'd find good if we could go anywhere as well.

The problem with this is that you could end up inside a planet or station, which would create hundreds of "stuck" petitions. On top of this, you'd be able to fly into deadspace areas without using the proper jumpgates - you could just skip to the final section.
From what I can see, there's lots of problems and very little use for this idea. --- http://www.ninjacodingmonkey.co.uk/ |

Actually, I thought if you warped inside a planet you just got bounced.
I like this idea really, the only problem I can find with it is that people could make the old super-safespots again as it is, you could easilly evade concord too with a single warp point or three that took 15 minutes between them.
This is a half interesting idea, but with the current mechanics I don't think it'd be a good change.

deadspaces should not really be a prob as they can be activated only when you go through the jumpgate. besides you would still have to know where they are to precisely warp on them. the stuck problem is real though but I'm sure it would be possible to warp next to the object instead than into it.
On my side I see that as a much more interesting way to do exploration than the repetitive and boring way we have now. In Pvp, it would also be very interesting to be able to land exactly where you want. I can think of a lot of use for that

Deadspaces would be a problem, because you could get a small ship of the correct class for the mission (say, a cruiser) to fly to the deadspace, then find its co-ordinates and join them in a faction battleship.
And of course there's the old style safespots. CCP worked hard on a solution and this idea would completely ruin that.

This proposal, as cool as it sounds, would also blow Need for Speed right out of the water. The server strain would be ENORMOUS. As it is currently, the server has to keep up with a lot of tags, markers, and items in any given system, but the vast majority of space in a system is untracked and unrendered, since no one and nothing ever goes there. By adding an actual 3D plane to a system, you require the server to track all the extra space at every point along the grid where increments meet. This would bog any given system down, much less multiplying it by 5000.

I'm not saying it's an easy feature, neither that it's an easy one, I'll let CCP tell us if it's possible or not. On my humble side I'm just saying it would be very interesting in terms of tactics and navigation, so it could be good to investigate. I'm not developping this game, I'm just playing it :) But maybe you're all right and it's useless to even think about it ;)
