As you have probably already read in CCP Mindstar's dev blog, we have made some slight changes to the Flagship mechanics in this round of the Alliance Tournament.
In AT9 you will no longer be required to submit the full fitting for public viewing in advance, you only need to submit the ship type and name. This means that you are free to change the fittings of your flagships in between matches as you see fit, making for a lot more interesting fights, when flagships do get fielded.
What are your thoughts on this change, do you think it will increase the use of flagships, as you can no longer setup a perfect counter prior to the match starting, or do you think it will cause people to be even more careful fielding their Flagships? |

I don't like this. I want to see and value this ship before it is fielded. Knowing an enemy has a 30billion isk ship in reserve is certainly something that would make me think twice about strategy.
Personally I liked being able to go through a ship's fittings and value them out. In the end it really is all about the most expensive thing going boom (IMpoc anyone?). |

With the added flexibility and increased use of flagships there is going be, especialy since they are immune to "banning", would it not add more variety to teams setups to extend the flagship class availability to include commandships and T3 ? |

I believe the main reason why people didn't use flagships in last year's tournament was that they are battleships. Battleships have proven to be too vulnerable to EWAR and too unflexible to adapt to the swiftly changing battlefield. They are immobile, have tracking issues, concentrate too many points into a single hull and die easily to bomber swarms. The only battleship that really saw usage was the Machariel, which can be explained with its maneuverability, it is actually faster than most BCs. I'd say it's BS in general that are useless, not specifically flagships. |

Flexible Flag Ship...... Banning....... = RICH ALLIANCE WIN.
With banning involved, flag ships become the only X factor. X factors that can cost 10's of billions, per setup. So alliance's than can afford multiple multi bil flagship setups have a massive advantage.
WE WANT A BATTLE OF TACTICS, NOT OF ISK!!!! |
