So my friend asks me how to do lvl 3 and later on perheps lvl 4 without the help of drones. He has now a drake for lvl 3s but he wants to speed up to a raven, and then go for lvl 4. he has all his skill points in Missiles and very few in drones, and he hate to use drones to clear the frigs.
I said he should stick to the drones anyway, train the skills up and then use them for the fast frigs.
But are the missile rigs which affetcs explosion velocity and explosion radius effective to make heavy missiles or cruise hit frigs better?
I guess its impossible to make cruise hit fast frigs for any damage. what do you think of those two rigs for missions?
I have never tried them so. I stick to my drones

Train for a Nighthawk and take down small ships insanely fast and large ships quite fast. If you really want to stick to the Raven then either train the guided missile support skills and cruise or go straight for torps and train up signature analysis + signature focusing and use painters.

best option is to use drones, if he don't wanna do that, he can compromise some other aspect tank/dps to make up for frig busting, but may find him self scramble locked by Spider drones some day and unable to do anythign about it >:-E3 /join Cheeze & Whine Club

ah, yeah, the spider ones hehe. even drones have problems with the rouge drones, so what wont HM have hehe.
before I also flew a little drake to try it, and I never found it effective against the high bounty frigs, and ceptors. maybe if I put some of those rigs on the ship, will the heavy missiles be able to take down ceptors effectivly? if so, what combination of rigs on a drake/nighthawk?
maybe I will try the drake again and train up for the nighthawk.
but I guess there are no alternative instead of using drones to pick out small stuff while mounting the raven with cruises/torps.

Refusing to use drones is silly at best. You're right in telling him that he should stick to the drones anyway.

You really need drones to effectively mission in a Raven, IMHO. I use a combination of either two Target Painter or Webber drones along with five light scout drones.
You can web and/or paint cruisers and battlecruisers for better damage with torps and then us the light drones to pick off the frigates.

yeah, I agree with you all. but one thing I want to know, tho a little off-topic hehe. will a drake/nighthawk be able to take off ceptors with the missile explosion radius reduction rigs, with heavy missiles? if so, what is the best combination of rigs?

I'm just gonna say-rigging your ship to shoot down inties with missiles will severely handicap you-better to just use a wing of light drones. Might be difficult to shoot them down even with standard missiles. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |
