My corp has been given access to a station in a -1.0 sec system, with juicy NPCs and lots of high end ore. On the face of it, this is wonderful. What I never expected was that I would spend 150mil, 2 battleships and a command ship in futile attempts to reach it .
First of all was the Eos attempt. This was actually successful in a way. I reached the station intact and started ratting until I got low on ammo. This is where the problem began. I had to travel 25 jumps away to a different region to buy ammo. While I was there, I stocked up on various supplies like mining lasers (I know, I know, but the ore there really was good ). The way back was blocked by a bubble camp. Broke through it, only to jump through the gate to an even bigger camp on the other side. I played around for a bit, dashing to the gate, jumping, dashing back to the gate, etc. I had a MWD and a decent tank, so I eventually decided to run for it. I managed to pop everyone at the smaller camp, but by then the main force had come through and was already tackling me. Bye bye, my lovely eos . Ooh look, the inside of a clone tube .
Next was dominix number 1. 7 WCS in lows, 6 smartbombs in highs, quad-lif MWD and cap rechargers in mids. What could go wrong? What went wrong was that I said "o/" in local as I passed through a system with a station and 11 neutrals in it. Apparently "o/" must be a rude symbol in somebody's culture, because they took serious offence to this. Half a dozen cruisers and dictors followed me out of the system. They would lock me, scramble me, and of course I'd get away. When I was just 5 jumps from safety, they managed to get the dictor bubble up before I pressed warp. Bye bye, my lovely dominix . Ah, the clone tube again!
Dominix number 2. This time I was sneaky. I decided to make my journey in the morning, when most European people would hopefully be at work, and most Americans would be asleep. I didn't bother travel fitting this one, because that tactic clearly doesn't work. I fitted tank and mwd as I did with the eos. I didn't make it very far this time. I jumped into the first 0.0 system and came across a small camp. I caught the end of a conversation in local:
[ 2007.08.17 08:11:35 ] EVE System > Channel changed to ***** Local Channel [ 2007.08.17 08:11:35 ] ***** > if he does [ 2007.08.17 08:11:35 ] ***** > need more ppl
Fortunately, they didn't manage to assemble enough people. I legged it to the gate and got away. I docked and logged off for an hour. Surely they wouldn't still be waiting after an hour?
An hour later: just a couple of people sitting by the gate. Both in big ships, not what you'd normally associate with a tackler. I decided to try to warp to the next gate instead of retreating. BIIG mistake. I was webbed, and scrambled, and since I hadn't used my mwd towards the gate in the first place, I didn't have enough momentum to reach it. I offered a bribe:
[ 2007.08.17 09:40:02 ] EVE System > Channel changed to ***** Local Channel [ 2007.08.17 09:42:12 ] ReaperOfSly > 20mil to let me pass [ 2007.08.17 09:42:29 ] ***** > each [ 2007.08.17 09:42:41 ] ReaperOfSly > ok [ 2007.08.17 09:42:43 ] ReaperOfSly > stop shooting [ 2007.08.17 09:42:47 ] ***** > lol
They didn't believe I would pay them the money, and they didn't stop shooting. How untrusting of them! Bye bye my other lovely dominix . This clone tube is getting to be a fairly familiar sight.
Attempt number 4 coming Soon(tm)... --------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually the NPC bounties are nothing to write home about. The biggest I've seen there is 1.55mil in a dual spawn. However, there are alot of belts there, and plenty of mercoxit and crokite in each one. Now if only I could find a way to get to it --------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that each 0.0 system has a "True security rating" The lower this is, the better the rats are and ore, so a -1.0 is the best I guess

Reaper, couple things.
1. if you are flying through hostile alliance controlled territory most do not allow ransoms to be taken.
2. Get a carrier to jump your ships and fittings out there. take everything you need so that you dont have to travel back and forth. Take some bpcs for ammo/drones then if you do have to leg it through the stargates, do so in a cov ops or recon.

yeah so true. tbh if ur mining out there then buying a few cheap ammo bpo's is a very good idea.
I used to go round 0.0 in an ares. cost sod all, 4 lows for a nice speed mod combo and prett damn fast. only ever got caught in 1 camp with it which was a past gate bubble with sensor boosted dictors. other than that it's great for transporting.

He's talking about trusec status I assume. 0.0 doesn't equal 0.0, certain systems will have spawns up to 1.8 million ISK per battleship if memory serves, or really juicy 'roids, while others are more of the "omg yay 500k bounties and jaspet!" variety.
Some of the fan-made maps show the true security status of a system, which (I think) can go down to -1.0.
Oh and there's a chance that all of the above is wrong, but I'm reasonably certain that it is indeed correct.

4x Halcyon stabbs + MWD + cap recharger in mids with proto cloak in the highs works better. :)

If you are looking officer spawns then contact Jim Lovell. That lucky besterd has had more officer spawns than anyone I know... he also looses ships faster than anyone I know aswell... although he might be in his Wyvern now, so he has a little more of a chance- but only a little of not dieing in it...

Can't use a carrier because the host alliance has a cyno jammer. Otherwise, I'd take my own carrier and be fine. Can't use a scout either because I'm a penniless student who can only afford one account --------------------------------------------------------------------

if the host alliance has allowed you to use the system, then find one of their carrier pilots and pay him/her to jump some stuff out.

Edited by: ReaperOfSly on 17/08/2007 19:22:39 My 4th attempt. Successful so far. This time, I went up in a covops. I have a whole lot of BPCs with me that I bought from jita. These BPCs have allowed me to build most of the fittings I need for an NPCing dominix (We have access to a factory outpost aswell as a refinery, in adjacent systems). The dominix itself is building as I type this. When I muster up enough courage, I'll once again make the 25 jumps to buy supplies. After all, a drone bay full of nothing but T1 Ogres, and lowslots with T1 hardeners will simply not do!
At least I don't have to worry about ammo any more
Edit: my OP got nerfed! Hmm, it still sort of makes sense without the chatlogs I guess . --------------------------------------------------------------------

They gave you access to the system but won't allow you to jump your carrier in
Don't they have ships you can buy nearby
How the hell are you going to get all this great ore out of the system
Some deals aren't always as good as they sound are they

AFAIK, we're not paying anything to be there. Just 15% refining tax. They have offered to temporarily shut down the cyno jammers and light up a cyno chain for us, but I don't want to be the one responsible for some enemy fleet choosing that moment to jump capitals in . --------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Sean Dillon on 17/08/2007 20:00:29 your in the wrong corp then, and the host alliance are a bunch of ****ers.
Seriously if an alliance has a constant cyno jammer going in their own system then they must be very afraid of something. Every body can haul ships with carriers to zero zero, so the need to do it manualy isn't what a true pvp'er deserves.
