Just stepped into a sader, just looking for a setup for solo killing, nothing else. Basically, I'm going to be fitting with a web, because it's better for what I want to kill to get away, than to be caught with my pants down, as the Crusader only has 2 mids.
Anyway, here's my setup, I'd like some opinions on it.
x4 Gatling pulse II MWD II, web Adaptive Nano Plating II, HS x2, SAR II
Throw about 40 mil in hardwirings in and it pushes me out to 4.8km/s. I don't really feel that safe as I do in my ranis, because a DCU has saved me multiple times, however I'm hoping to push enough DPS out (190 with my skills, 200 with max)to make a difference.
And yes, I know a neutron ranis might do this better. That's not what this thread is about though. I like to have the option to hit out to 10km with scorch.

Ive been thinking on
4x dual light pulse w/ scorch ab , web sar, dcu, tracking enhancer or heatsink, overdrive.
thats like 2200 effective structure with mechanic3-5 and dcu II, can stay out of web range, doesnt need a lot of cap, and does like 100-150dps depending on skills

Burginator, this is Darius. Good to see you in EVE.
The 4x Gatling Pulse works well against some other inties, but if you're going to take on bigger ships then use beams.

o.O im afraid you wont be killing very much if you dont fit a warp jammer of some sort and why a web? Orbit @ 20 with beams
If you REALY wana get in close use the meladiction and fit a scram / web
but yeah if your solo you NEED a warp jammer or you aint gona kill nothing

I have hopped into a Crusader relatively recently myself. I am running 4 tech2 beams wdII,mwdII, 2 odIIs, nano II and a CPR.
1st, how's my setup?
2nd, what kind of targets should I be able to handle with this setup? (and should I bother with rigs?)

Thats quite good but get 1 more cpr and make sure cap skills are 4-5.

Beam setups don't do very much dps so you won't be killing much, and even the things you can break will take longer than you want.
This setup has suited me fairly well;
High: 4x Dual light pulse lasers (scorch w/ multifreq in hold)
Mid: T2 MWD, Named Warp disruptor (20k)
Lows: Small Armor rep II, 2 named Cap Power Relays, Nano/Overdrive/Heat Sink
Also, spend a few extra mil and get some hardwires as well. A damage bonus hardwire, range, and cap use hardware will do you some good. Especially the range hardwires. You never want to get webbed. With max gunnery skills your op range with the Dual light pulse IIs + Scorch is 10k. With Trajectory Analysis 5 your falloff will be 1800. Then with the 3-5% increase to range with a hardwire you'll be able to comfortably stay out of web range while hitting.
The thing about the crusader is it lacks a mid slot so no web :(. Also, it uses a good amount of cap so to use it effectively, you should have some high cap skills (preferably maxed cap skills). If you do, you should be able to run the guns + scram, or guns + MWD indefinately.
Pick your targets well.

What kind of ammo would you carry around for a pulse setup? Or a beam setup?

Pulse: Scorch, Amarr Navy Multifrequency.
Beam: Scorch, Amarr Navy Infared, Amarr Navy Multifrequency
You're a lot more likely to survive a close range fight in a Malediction though. So I'd suggest keeping with beams.

Beams can't use Scorch. I think you mean Aurora.

Thanks, also, one more quick question. People tell me that T1 crystals don't break, but T2 crystals do. Would that mean the faction ones wont break?

Faction ones do break unfortunately. I think that faction ones last longer than T2, although I haven't looked it up and I might be completely wrong! - - - - - - - - - -

kk I went out and tried this setup and it owned any frigates but seriously watch out for any ship with guns that can track you and do more than 20 at a time;p , 180mm autocannons etc.

Anyway, against intys, they usually don't get away in time by the time you catch them.

Hey all, thanks for the advice. Anyway, I did some shopping around and I've come to a setup I like.
4x DLP II/GPL II MWD II, X5 Web HS II, CPR II, DCU II, OD II
Energy Burst Aerator I, Energy Collision Accelerator I
Pumps out about 200 DPS with faction multi with my skills. If I'd like to use a rep, I just switch out the DLPs to the GPL IIs. Almost the same DPS however the gatlings have less alpha. Not too expensive, the rigs are about 8m each.
Thoughts/comments?

Best Crusader fit out there for Inty dueling and good for solo too:
4x Dual Light Beam II
1x Catalyzed MWD (Less cap use than T2) 1x Fleeting Warp Scrambler (Least cap usage of all disruptors)
1x OD II 1x Nano II 1x Heat Sink II 1x CPR II
Low slots are up to you really, not sure if the Heat Sink even fits, use 2x OD II if it doesnt, goes 6.5k/s with good skills and without rigs. ---
