I don't want to have to deal with people looking for a bargain.
I know what it's worth to me and I'm willing to pay for it. It may not be worth that much to others, but I've been selling T2 mining crystals since they first came out.
I wanted to start with a bid that would limit the bidding to people that are serious.
If the top bid was only 600 million you'd feel tempted to try to snipe it at the last minute. With a top bid of 2 billion it makes you think twice.

Edit: God knows why you have to bid 1.5m over the start bid anyway. You'd think it'd be a good deal if you were the only one who wanted it at 600m
