Oh come on CCP, that doesn't make ANY sense at all.
a) The forums are nice to browse: when you cannot play for example.
b) The forums are important for service offers of all sort.
c) The contracts are too limited. The duration is also very short. Furthermore they are not suited for large amounts of items.
d) The forums keep the community alive and happy.
I completely don't understand this step. You have a very nice and also an important feature of your game (in the broader sense). Now you remove that feature. Why? Removing stuff that works and is used a lot is always bad.
Is the load on the servers too large? Well, that should show you only how important these forums are for the community!
Please think about this step again. It is not good for neither you nor for us.

So with other words you say: we don't care to support Eve with any out-of-game means, just pay us your **** money and shut up and search some other communities who supports you.
Good to know, actually I think the millions of dollars you invest(ed) in advertisment are completely wasted with such an attitude.
If you cannot even run a simple forum for the most important centerpiece of Eve, the player driven market, then you are really at your end.

Originally by: Arithron It's interesting how everyone gets on their high horses and slags off CCP etc- before knowing the full story, or if there is any replacement for these forums coming...
Obviously it would be the right way to FIRST introduce new things and THEN remove existing ones. Not removing first things and then developing/testing/introducing new stuff. That is completely wrong.

Essentially, by selling through the forums (hell, I've also done it) we avoid taxes etc in-game. You are b**ching because you'll make less profit etc if you have to sell expensive items through contracts-
Did you actually read the posts? Most of the items you CANNOT sell via the contracts: supercaps, services, contrabands, items which are not listed, advertisements and so on. Or you cannot bid for them because they are in completely different regions and it would take you ages to travel around. Or Eve is again down because of database issues and you cannot trade either, or or or...

SO WHAT! Welcome to the real world...try telling your stockbroker that you want an alternative to paying his fees....
In real world I just switch to some other broker which demands less fees or give a better service.
Originally by: Arithron I'm awaiting official word on improvements/alternatives...if there are none, I'll join the rest of you
Welcome then... the official word is already out, it is the update that we can use other forums if we want. Looks like CCP just stopped supporting Eve with their own forum, it is too much hassle for them or whatever.

the overall goal is to support our players in the best manner possible.
From: Interstellar services department – past, present and future
The best possible manner is to close the trade forum and to send them off to some 3rd party site? Didn't you always say that the player run market is unique in Eve? So why are you going to destroy a part of it without any need?
The forums worked fine! And contracts aren't working fine and you know it!! Why would you send us to Chribbas side otherwise?!
