First off, both of you are jerks. You duel in non-inhabited systems so lag doesn't play a factor.
Secondly, a 1vs1 or a tournament without warp scramblers fitted doesn't make sense. A realistic fit will have one midslot less for a scram / distruptor. It also makes it kindof impossible to dishonour the duel, since you're not bloody moving anywhere while warp scrambled ;)
Third, if that kind of cash is in question, then a trusted referee makes sense.

If Siren is guilty of anything, it's taking a sucker bet.
Given the information provided in this thread, it seems to me that both parties have things to be ashamed of and I don't see see either as the lily-white paragon of e-honor.
If anything, it doesn't sound to me that the agreed-upon "duel" occurred. What occured was a series of...err..."desyncs" and warp-outs.
If both parties are truly interested in a "duel," the equitable thing to do, would be to try again. Re-work the rules (because they are lacking), get a judge/referee, and find a relatively quiet place where three people can carry out this incredible test of manhood and e-honor.

This is stupid. From my understanding this so called "desynch" happens when the server is having issues keeping track of the number of clients logged on to that specific node. This constant blame on desynch is ******** and it does not cause log off and/or warp off. I have dealt with it once and I never crashed or anything like that. Mr. Laughing Mime warped off. That right there voided this contest. PERIOD. I was listening to Siren durring this fight and he was commentating on the whole thing. After the warp off and the "fight" stated again Siren noticed that the his cap was being drained more then before when before he was holding cap just fine. That means Mr. Laughing Mime in my mind went off and made some changes with out communicating that to Siren. This fight ended with the warp off and it either should have been renegotiated or ended right there. The only thing Siren did wrong was continue to fight, but he wanted to give Mr. Laughing Mime the benefit of the doubt. My question to Mr. Laughing Mime is why wasnt there a none bias referee holding the money and keeping the rules in check?? Your fight was bunck from the start.

Lol @ this thread
What's up with peeps flaming counter fit? Rules said myrm vs any BS, no jamming, thats it. Theres nothing lame about countering someones fit, quite the opposite.
*Although you do not need a warp disruptor, fight should stay within domi disruptor range to make it more realistic* ..warpout --> forfeit --> you loose (desynch? bad luck i guess, you still loose)
Thanks for laughs :)

Lemme weigh in here:
1. You two asked for a 1v1 in MY thread without the use of a referee. I have no sympathy for either of you.
2. Siren, complaining about his setup is weak. If you want a 1v1, be prepared to deal with anything, and suck it up if you lose. I lost my last 1v1 in about 10 seconds because my setup wasn't compatible to what my opponent had fitted.
3. Laughing Mime, you warped out first. I don't care why, you did. Its a 1v1 and you warped out. After that, you guys...started again? And you warped out again? Then started again? At this point, you've lost the fight twice.
Sorry, I don't feel that you have any ground to stand on. Its cheap that Siren whines about your setup, but he won the fight. What's to say you didn't dock and refit a couple times? I'm not saying that you did, but you left the fight.

Hold up. From what I gather, this thread was started to even out a perceived imbalance resulting from this half-assed duel.
But.
Duel happens, both parties are displeased with the result.
One player's bragging is refuted when he nearly loses his ship. He takes a second hit to his reputation by way of public humiliation by the other player.
The second player doesn't get to collect on the ISK and mods he was hoping for, and takes a hit to his own reputation by posting his complaints and appearing as a greedy lamer.
That's two hits against each player. A net loss for both players, yes, but it is important to note that neither player came out better or worse off than the other. Matter settled, lesson learned, run along now. ---

Yeah building a winning setup is stupid. You should only use cookie cutter setups that everyone else uses.
Preparation is one of the most important things in any duel.

Mime and I were the only two in local. There was a bit during the fight when there was 1 other player in local, but for the majority of the time, we were alone.
And sorry about hijacking your thread, Curzon. We did move the negotiations to evemail once it was clear Mime wasn't joking. --- What doesn't manage to kill you... has made a tactical error.

It is possable to use a turret set-up and not be cookie cutter.
a winning set-up? lol, shure i can bring a machine gun to a pistol duel, i will win yea, but i will also be a coward in the end.

That analogy doesn't really make any sense, from reading the rules the setup Mime used was perfectly 'legit', it might be a 'lame' setup but he was well within the dueling etiquette to use it.

This is the most important piece, IMO.
At a minimum, with a trusted third party, they would have made an unbiased judgment, and either paid the winner or paid back the entrance fees.

Ok how about this analogy
Please look up the word RISK, and take some bro.
Maybe it's just me, i like killing peeps the wrong way, not the right way
It's a game, i promise nothing bad will happen to you if you pop, i like the fact that i can kill peeps useing a set-up i thought up, not useing a set-up that i know will allready win, wheres the fun in that?

Well, one of Laughing Mime's complaints is that Siren didn't pay his 250m wager after losing the battle, so that leads me to believe no ISK was transferred between the two. Besides, why would they entrust their wager to another, being the dishonorable scoundrels they are? ---

Ive never had a desynch so far... How do you manage to get desynched twice, in highsec, in a 1v1 fight...? Unless you decided to go shoot something in bloody jita..
I think voiding that fight is fair enough. You warped out twice and she warped out once all due to the same reasons (there is no reason for me to believe that you really desynched twice... for all i know you blew your cap too early and told her you desynced for another chance...
You do want to "keep it realistic" by being with 30km.. but at the same time you fly a ship only a ****** would fly if it was no set up fight...
Seriously, From readin this i think you and not siren are the lame dude :-/

IMHO, I don't see how a Myrm could win against a Hype fit with Smartbombs/Nos. Mime is a very skilled pilot, he knows how to use his ships and I don't see how he could possibly have lost the duel. One of the rules said the fight is to the death, but siren warps out at 5% hull, claims the fight is unfair, and doesn't want to finish the fight? Sounds to me Siren admitted defeat.

Correct me if im wrong here but if u "lagged out" or "desync'd" in the tournament would you get the opportunity to come back and fight??
Now I'm not saying this was the tournament, but sorry dude if u got "lagged" or "desync'd" which forced u to warp then u lose.
I do believe tho that the fight shoulda ended there in which case u wouldnt have paid and the title of this thread woulda been same cept with ur name on it

hmm i see ur thinking here , so because siren warps out that is an admission of defeat and mime wins ?.
I take it you did read the thread and realise that mime had already warped out two times ?
You still wish to claim that warping out is an admission of defeat ?
desynch warping out the ship , thats a new one to me.

This thread is lame, did you really expect someone to be honorable in a 1vs1 without a 3rd party holding the ISK?
The only crime here was you being nieve enough to trust someone over the internet.

I'd hope so, because I forsee quite a bit of it happening at the next tourny, considering the current status of the server.

You "de-synched" twice, and your claims of server troubles are just as valid as his.
I think you should have agreed that if anyone leaves the fight for any reason that the fight would be a default victory for the person who stayed. At the very least a draw.
