Oh noes you can't pvp with one mid i have been told by dozens off people.
Well I say you can and have been doing some solo belt pvp in low sec and some gang pvp and racked up some kills.
Solo
Hi 4x Medium Pulse Laser
Med 1x named 20km warp Disruptor
Low 2xHeatsink II 1xThermic Plating II 1xNamed Small armour Rep 1xCollateral Adaptive Plating
1x 3%bonus to small energy turret implant
Pros Good DPS with Amarr Navy Multifrequency I have 195 dps and with a surgical strike another level should hit 200. Vaporises shield tanks
Cons Slow, only about 300 m/s so can be outrun by just about anything with a mwd.
Gang Hi 4x Medium Pulse Laser
Med 1x Named MWD
Low 2xHeatsink II 1xThermic Plating II 2xCollateral Adaptive Plating
Pros Faster about 1200m/s in gangs with bonus and I still need to work on navigation.
Will destroy anything smaller than a cruiser in seconds and can take down cruisers fast.
Great for popping passive shield tanks took 2 drakes out last night one i was top of the km when I hijacked a murder-kill-death attack on an outlaw drake and beat all their AF Ceptors and even a Huginn and rapier.
Can tank reasonably well through passive hit points and low sig radius
Cons Cannot tackle which most people see as a frigates role Cant fit rep and mwd but when i get Weapon Upgrades 5 and train AWU hopefully i will be able too.
Anyway try these fits out and you wont be disappointed its a tough ship and can cause a lot of damage to smaller ships or shield tankers. If anyone has any better suggestions Including squeezing something in the 5th high share please

For your gang setup:
High's 4 * Medium Pulse II's
Med's 1MN MWD II
Low's 'Harmony' small armor rep 'Moonshine' energised thermic membrane 'Motte' cap power relay 2 * 'Trebuchet' heat sink's
This is cap stable when not running the rep, so you can pew pew whilst MWDing, the reason for the named gear is I only have AWU 3, and with amarr navy multi's you can achive over 200DPs with surgical strike at 4.
never tried it, probably never will. but it fits and it puts a rep on. exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) <-- Eve-online forums hosted on... Sinclair ZX Spectrum (the 48kb model!!) |

That stuff isn't named, it's COSMOS - are you sure those parts are cheap enough to be justified to a ship with short life expectancy? [ insert fancy sig here ] |

tbh for gang setups I would prefer a beam setup instead. ---

Meh, quickfit isn't the real (virtual?) world.
Anyway, I love the retribiton, especially in small fast gangs where someone else tackles.
My gang setup is 4 x medium pulses II with Amarr navy MF / T2 ammo depending on range.
1x Named MWD
1x Heatsink II 1x Thermic Plating II 1x SAR II 1x DC II 1x Named Cap Relay
Gives me a 12km range with MF crystals (or 20 with T2) so I can stay out of web range.

Ramble: AFs are pretty ****ty. Why the hell are they slower than Cruisers and HACs when a mwd is put into the equation? Its one of those things that are so blantatly wrong yet it persists. Most cruisers with a MWD will outspeed its racial AF with a mwd... not to mention HACs. *sigh*
I only use the Retribution for ratting and I go with 4 med pulses, ab, 2hs 2 adaptive resistance plate and a sar II. I feel dirty when I put a mwd on my retr because of the above reasons :( For pvp I would go with beams.

Well compared to the omen which i guess is the cruiser most like the retri I would say they are about the same speed. Which makes sense as the retri is a T2 ship with extra armour.

Edited by: Jonny Magellan on 22/08/2007 16:52:35 yeah simon but one can be fully insured and has more range, drones and more slots too :( Also can fit active hardeners and bigger plates to have a similiar tank. A mass reduction would be so nice for AFs.
Assault frigates imo should be to frigates what hacs are to cruisers. A zealot with a mwd outspeeds immensely a retribution

Too be fair the AF are similar to frigates are to hacs. The Af is capable of taking cruisers and the HAC is capable of taking BC. They both tank hard and can cause a lot of damage to T1 ship class. Only difference in this case is that the speed increase between Punisher>Retribution is smaller than the speed Increase between Omen>Zealot.
I struggle to fit a full rack of the heaviest T2 guns and mwd on a Omen or Maller not to mention anything else which results in the dps not being considerably more than the AF.
The frigate is better at escaping gate camps in low sec than a cruiser but it boils down to choice and i would rather fly the retribution than a omen or maller, well at least till i can get myself a zealot

A solo retribution will die a horrible death at the hands of just about anything.
I wouldnt bother with beams if your planning to use MF in them, use medium pulse with scorch loaded instead.
IMHO if you go beams go whole hog and setup as a mini sniper.
