That came out yesterday right? Thank God today is my last day of work, then 3 days off! Sweet name too, White Scars I named my guy after a character also, Capt Saul Tarvitz, one of the most staunchly loyal Marines after the betrayal. |

They're 25% cheaper pts-wise than imperial terminators, but come with power weapons and twin bolters instead. They have way more weapon options than the imperial version, including single-shot flamers/meltaguns, single lightning claws, but are slightly less accurate at range.
Also they're so covered in spikes they get an extra attack out of it. |

They also had a lot more of the suits initially, the AdMech was diverting more equipment to Horus and his followers before the rebellion started. Tactical Dreadnought armour was intended to replace the standard power armour, there where lots of suits in storage and transit. Once Horus agreed to open the vaults of Morevac for the AdMech they began to starve loyalist legions of stuff and sent it to Horus. |

I really like your painting, you needed some Obliterators imo though. You mentioned before you where going for lots of mobility and deep striking.
Obliterators are more versatile than Havoks, one squad can do the job of a full squad of Lascannon Havoks or a squad of anti infantry Termies. No Chaos army should leave home without them. The models are cool to. |

I find the Oblit models completely deformed and hideous :|
Very un-Night-Lordy too. Dumb walking bricks with meat and guns on them. I plan to add a Predator Annihilator next, because I'm still a bit short on anti-tank weapons.
Just gotta get started... vehicle painting is the worst :| |

Fixed that for you. Who wants to paint silly little infantry models when you can paint more tanks? And then once you're done with the tanks, you can move on to the superheavy tanks, aircraft, titans...
Also, this book is your friend. Study it, and you will discover a new love for tanks. |

Brother has that book. Had a read through of it, those Imperial Armour guys are completely nuts. And I mean that in the best way possible.
Also, +1 to more Aircraft. As per my earlier post, I have a whole shelf of them. Plus Thunderhawks. http://www.dust514.org - the unofficial forum for everything DUST 514 http://www.dust514base.com - the blog site with everything else DUST 514 you need

This thread again, I hate you. You allready caused me to get interested in 40k painting a modelling again. Its over 10 years since I last did any so all the paints and brushes I had are long gone, obviously I am out of practice as well.
I bought a starter set to pick it up again, I have no interest in collecting smurfs but they are easy to paint and relearn techniques. The kit comes with all the basic paints for smurfs and a brush and five models. I have not started it yet though. After I have done that I will get a few more miniatures, couple more squads and a few heroes and maybe some bikes or a Rhino.
After I have picked it up I will probably collect the models and units I like instead of collecting an army, I dont really want to take up TT again I just want to do a bit of painting & modelling. Make some dioramas and conversions etc |

I kinda miss painting these things up. At one point I had 5 or 6 rhinos I won in painting competitions so I made my own DIY battle tanks. This got me hooked on tanks so I ended up with a whole imperial guard tank regiment painted in desert colours. The shop I went to banned my tacktic of shelling the enemy as they thought I shopuld charge forwards like everyone else rather than stay back and bombard the living **** out of everything and dig in my troop to protect the tanks.
At least they let me use my army as a merc force so I could join whichever side was outnumbered and they did unban my tactic |

This. IG tank spam isn't even very good, if people have problems beating it then they need to learn how to play the game instead of whining and crying about it. |

I think the problem was they all thought they were fantastic generals then I come along and apply everything I learned from watching too many WWII documentories and deciding that digging in, placing strong points, cross fire and shelling the enemy while falling back as they charge in their sword wealding manics shelling them into the ground as I went kinda shocked them.
Was fun the first few times I did this when my team begged me to push forwards then realised what I was up to. Was also rather funny when the enemy thought it was a smart idea to swarm a big bulk of their guys on some hapless hero only to see me place the big boom template over their blob, score a direct hit and destroy most of them.
Good times
They loved the kill doser though |

I don't understand that ruling either, Imperial Guard are incredible with defense. It'd be like challenging somebody to a duel in game and telling them they can't use speed tank on their interceptor.
We ran a massive 6 person game one time with 2 S.M. Chapters and a I.G. regiment on one side and the Eldar, Chaos, and Necrons on the other side (yeah I know, side 2 doesn't make sense). Our I.G. guy was a mortar specialist in the army irl so needless to say his artillery on the board was near perfect each time. He kept a couple of squads behind my Land Raider Crusader and Baal Predator as we slow tracked through the city and his Leman Russ's trailed some Predator's from the Dark Angel company in the open plains for a great sweeping tactic. |

I think it was because I was the only Imperial guard fan there and everyone liked to just get right into a slashup. So when I went all El Alamein on them it was a bit of a shock. They should have expected it because I did pant up my army in desert colours and call them the 6th armour. Turns out none of them knew the significance of the name.
So they do their thing and I just said... |

Hmmm Interesting, if you painted them I enjoy the pics even more.
Though I see in your first pic (haven't seen the others yet) that you seem to finish the job with a shiny lacquer. You like 'em shiny? or it was a flash effect?
I enjoy dull matte finishes over glossy ones, though I haven't painted a WH army in over 18years :P , and ended up playing "latinamerican"cheap style with self-printed/photocopied army books and plastic bottle caps, toy soldiers and chinese plastic toys of all sorts. I know, I know "heresy"!!!! but considering I was the only guy able to afford the real stuff and none of my friends even having money to buy an original army book I resorted to cheap play just to introduce people to the genre.
But all in all, awesome, from geek to geek, I enjoy your minis. Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

Due to some of my limitations, all we had for army books or choices were Space Marines, Orks , Dark Eldar and Eldar, I remember the old core had some IG (plus other armies) in it instead of an outside army book, but no one played them. To this day I haven't seen an IG game.
Woa, where did all those old rulebooks go? I wanna play now :P
I remember buying a starter set that got shelved when I couldnt find anyone to play with :(

40k is fantastic. I have 10,000 points of Chaos Black Legion, a pretty large force of Imperial Guard and some other stuff. I have so much Forgeworld stuff that I forget it all. Thing is, I had a baby five years ago and I haven't played the game since around that time, I just don't have time so my stuff sits in the closet at my house. I have been meaning to thin the herd quite a bit by throwing all my unpainted stuff up on Ebay. I did recently buy the Necron codex and was happy with it, they did a good job. I may try to play the game again once the new edition comes out
This thread has some of my stuff, the Black Legion is unimpressive in the photos because the
