On my wallet orders tab near the bottom, it has the following
Total in Escrow: <big number> ISK (additional <small number> ISK to cover)
Now, I could understand why I would have some money in the ISK to cover spot if I had the Margin Trading skill, but I don't have that skill, so I'm wondering why I have any amount I need to cover at all? Currently, the cover amount is 0.014% of my current escrow total, which really seems strange.
What am I missing here?

You know, you might be right. It might be the tax on the items I'm selling. I just assumed it had to do with my buy orders because of the nature of the Margin Trading skill. I'll have to add it up when I go online next.

Are you sure the number isn't negative?
If someone sells to you for less than your buy order, your escrow account ends up having more money in it than is needed to cover the rest of your order. When the order closes, you get that money back.

You are correct, the number is negative. Thanks for the info. I was really worried about not having ISK on hand to cover it.

You said it was .014% of your total escrow. Unless you have 100's of billions or more in escrow and 0 money in your wallet I hardly see how .014% of anything could be a challenge to have available if needed.
But that said, it is indeed someone selling you something for less than you were willing to pay.

There is a skill that allows you to set buy orders and not pay 100% of the isk upfront.
The "additional ISK to cover" is the amount of isk that will be taken from your wallet when those buy orders get filled.
If you dont have enough ISK at the time of the actual transaction (someone selling to your buy order), bad stuff happens
