Hi all,
I'm running level 2 courier missions to raise standing with a research faction. I'm curious as to what peoples opinions are of the best ship to do this with.
Right now I'm starting off doing them with a Vexor fit like so:
Hi: Nothing fit yet
Mid: 2 x LSE I 1 x Invulnerability Field
Low: 2 x Nanofiber Internal Structure II 2 x Inertial Stabilizer II
Haven't had a problem with cargo space on it -yet-, and I'm enjoying how fast it jumps with the stabs and nanos.
Is there a better t1 ship for running courier missions for standing? Alternatively, would fitting a standard tank be better than the agility mods?
Thanks!

Shouldn't you run courier missions in an industrial ship?

Why run small cargos in a slow clunky indy when you don't have to?

I used the t1 frigate build for cargo, that would be an Imicus if you fly Gallente, make sure there is a cap battery or two included in the setup.

The word 'slow' means nothing for courier missions since CCP added 'warp to zero' feature. So best ship for couriers, imho, is the one who is able to carry maximum cargo (primary) and align to warp faster (secondary). Choice is obvious... best courier ship is the industrial or transporter that can have more low slots for expanders and nanos. My personal choice, not the best, but it works, is Bustard.
Have fun.

A frigate or exequeror will be fine for lvl 1 or 2 courier missions. You can pick up several missions worth of cargo in one go in both. I used to try and collect 4 or 5 courier missions in one go as often you would get some drop offs enroute or to the same location.
Only problem with the exequeror is that it is prpbably the ugliest ship in existence - fly it fully zoomed out.

Edited by: Khan Dhu on 23/08/2007 10:29:45 For L2 couriers, use a Probe. Train Minmatar frigate to II and buy one.
Highs: Nothing Mids: 1MN Afterburner, 1x Small Capacitor Battery II Lows: 1x Nano (any type), 1x I-Stab (any type)
Keep a hauler in reserve for the few missions that require you to carry more than 320m3. A Probe will handle the majority of L3s as well.
I take it you're not considering L4 hauler missions, so I won't bother putting a speed-fit/quick-aligning Mammoth here.

Probably? No. Without a doubt? Yes.
I used a Tier 3 frigate (Tristan, Merlin, etc.) fitted with istabs and a fully passive tank (shield extender + resistance amps) for most low level courier missions. I kept an industrial ship for backup use.

I had a span of over a month where I was hitting courier missions (levels 1-3) to generate storyline missions. I'd say only about 1 in 20 missions required something larger than a frigate to complete. It's not uncommon for me to run 9-10 missions at the same time out of adjacent stations. My specific choice is to run a speed-fitted Vigil. I also have an Indy on standby for those rare larger missions.

I use an interceptor for the courier missions that have tiny deliveries, as interceptors have the fastest time to get into warp, and a max warp speed of 22.3au/sec (mine does anyways). I have a Blockade runner for cargoes that are in the 500 to 2000m3 range, as it has a fast time to get into warp, and warps faster than my Deep space Transport, which I use for the two or three missions that are over 6km3.

????? I am amazed about the answers here! Do you take a specific ship(config) for all your combat missions? No, you fit the ship for the mission. Do you take a specific ship for all your couriermissions?! No, you fit the ship to the mission. So regularly I do couriermissions with a shuttle...

There's nothing wrong with fitting an all-purpose setup if you value mobility and can fit for some flexibility. On the occasions when I've wanted to play at a slower pace, I've used a Sigil for couriers and one fitting has worked for Levels 1-4 in both high and low sec.

You know, I have an Iteron or 2 in my hangars, but regularly I get missions to get lunch, toys or salarysheets, academics, these take up .5 to 3 m3,. Do I use my Iteron for those? No, I take a shuttle, lowsec or hisec. In Nosec things are a bit different, since you can run into a bubble there, but that is a risk you run with every ship.

I use two ships: 1. Covert for small cargos ( less than 200m3) 2. Indy(mammoth) for larger ones
Most of the time you will ferry small things even with lvl 4 missions.
