Edited by: Aretmis on 23/08/2007 07:49:55 Edited by: Aretmis on 23/08/2007 07:49:45 Basically what the title says, I am a mission runner now, I'm still in level 2's close to 3's and my setup as of now is follows. I'm running in low sec all the time.
I want basically a high dps rig, but if someone decides to pick a fight between missions I want to make them wish they never did.
this is whats on there now, tell me how I can tweak it. Highs 6x650's t1 2xArablast heavy's
Mids (All t1, named if I can) Tracking Computer Sensor Booster After Burner Target Painter
Lows Overdrive 2 Gyros 1 Diagnostic System I 2 Interia Stabilizers
With the after burner on she pulls 477m/s, no problem with Cap what so ever, and I currently have 1.7mil SP. I am working on AWUG now.
So what can I tweak for more of "you shouldn't have done that" kinda setup?
*edit* I'm looking to stay in this ship for awihle.

Where is your tank? Virtually no shield tank or armor tank (passive or active). You're not fast enough to speedtank. And you don't fit enough defensive electronic warfare to rely on that for tanking.
As it is you'll be eaten alive by the first proper PvP cruiser that comes along. Or even a frigate. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

You need a tank - you'll notice fast when the world of level 3 missions open up...
Furthermore you need a Webifier and most definately a warp scrambler or warp disruptor to at least have a chance of making someone regret anything...
You don't need the sensor booster or target painter for lv 3 missions anyway...
And then again most likely anybody attacking you will tear you apart unless they are very noobish AND running T1 frigs without EW. It's just because you are doomed to have poor supportskills with only 1,7 sp.
I didn't even fly cruiser with that low SP - I'm a nice guy!!

Either fit a webber, for holding smaller targets still so your artillery can hit them under 10km, or fit something like T2 200mm Autocannons which have better DPS, can track frigates, but only under 10km usable range with Barrage S. I would also fit at least a Y-S8 afterburner if not a T2 afterburner. I would also get rid of the sensor booster, not critical on the Hurricane as lock times are decent, replace it with a shield booster since you have no defence.

Gah! Nomakai is right, thats a pretty bad set up.
You're too slow, have no tank, and don't have the needed EWAR, DPS, or skills to do anything but get podded from almost any pvp ship that comes by.
Unload everything but maybe the AB from your mids and lows. Rebuild your setup around a good tank. Fill some PVP survival parts, Warp Core Stab, EWAR, Cloak, or whatever. Get some safe spot bookmarks in systems you're running missions.
With your skills and ship your best bet is to warp off from about any player who shows up unless they're in a noob frig or AFK. Your best bet is to focus on survival and being able to warp off if attacked until you get some more experience and skills.

The Arby's usually explode with the ship leaving the guy who attacks you wishing he had not bothered getting an aggro timer for the rest of the mucky loot that will wind up in your can .
If you want to keep that ship you may want to check some of the more sensible setups available here:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=490101
And tweak for your missions. Although from your total SP you may wish to use a Rupture until your support skills for the BC are a wee bit better. At least insure the 'cane if you are going to keeping flying it .

All using T1 kit, you should use named as much as you can afford, especially with regards to tanking.
This setup is for closerange killing and I have used it [on my alt-char] for lvl3 missions [upgrading to named and T2 kit along the way] without too much trouble. The plate really helps you soak up damage as you get into range, once in range then enemies die very fast.
If you have to go to another system low-sec for your mission then fit a Microwarpdrive instead of the afterburner to give you a chance to get back to the gate or MWD out of tackle range of gate campers. Take your AB with you and refit at a station for the actual mission, put the MWD back on again for going home.
I was once attacked by several pirates after I jumped, I was able to MWD back to the gate and jump through. They chased me and I had to MWD back again. Back on the other side I aligned for a warp out point and hit my MWD, a Thorax came after me and an Apoc shot me from the gate. The Thorax was faster than me and had me scrambled for a time, until my NOS drained his cap and my guns ran him off, this allowed me to escape with little damage as the Apoc missed me a lot because of my speed. ============================================

For PvE, I use this (assume Tech II or best named/whatever you can afford):
6x 650mm Artillery 2x HML
1x 10MN AB 2x Tracking CPU 1x Webber
1x Gyrostabilizer 1x EANM 2x Rat Specific Hardeners 1x DCU 1x MAR
Works like a charm so far, although I could make the tank a lot better with some cap rechargers and rigs.

They'll be fitting a MWD ( if they have any sense ) and will be under your guns in no time, then your non - tank is gonna disappear and you will die.
And btw, fitting tech1 everything also means that your ship is gonna be sucky by default, you pay for crap, and crap is what you get.
If you wanna pvp fit autocannons and a MWD, you wanna pve fit arty.

I agree, auto's work so much better on this ship than artillery. And some of these so called 'tanks' are nothing more than wrapping your ship in a wet paper bag.

I assume thats directed at my setup? The setup that I use is all T2, faction, or best named, I posted a T1 setup because Mr OP. Newbie has only 1.7Mil SP and undoubtebly cant use much T2 or afford much best named.
MWD works really well on this ship due to its low mass, but is totally useless for missions, which is what the OP is using it for. So I recommend he refits when in his missions system. ============================================

Not soo sure you want to be toying around with a BC if you're this new...ESP. a tier2 that costs a bit more than a tier1. To me, it sounds like you made this post in anticipation of eventually having enough ISK to buy a cane.
Stick with a cyclone and learn the ropes of level three's first. Then, when you have a nice cushion of ISK, get a hurricane.

tbo stick to high sec and dont try and fight anyone with that kind of skillpoints, sure its possible to win at pvp with low sp and good flying knowledge but if your new its not recommended at all so stay safe and fit for mission running if thats what your doing.

/me cries I'm sorry Artemis, but this setup is just asking to be ganked and torn apart in about 30 seconds flat by a good PVPer. There's not too much that I can say that N1fty hasn't already. I tend to run an enhanced version of what he's posted and it works very nice, especially once you get to the point of being able to use T2 gear in your armor tank. Best I can say is that if you want to pvp in that 'cane, work off of the setup that N1fty has posted and upgrade to t2 when you can. -------------------

Actually, I sometimes do throw out the EANM for another Gyrostab. Once I get Tech II Hardeners on my Minmatar character, I'll permanently replace the EANM with another Gyrostabilizer II. ------------

He will be in deadspace missions. MWD's do not work in the majority of these.
OP: If you are still going to fly the Hurricane you will do fine at your level of missions fit something like:
6x 220mm Vulcan AC 2x Med NOS 1xAB 1x20k scram 1x webber 1xSensor Booster or whatever 3xActive Hardeners 1xDC 1x800 R/T plate 1xMAR
Whatever drones you can use/Whatever rigs you think might be helpful
This setup should handle your L1/L2 missions (I'm not 100% sure as I don't do them) and you will be able to at least fight back if jumped by your friendly neighborhood pirate pals .
If you cannot fit the above....you will be better off in something else. Seriously .

He speaks the truth. In Level 2 missions, I used an Emergency Damage Control I as my tank on my Hurricane (with artillery). I don't think I turned on the MAR II a single time until I got to Level 3 missions. Level 2 missions can certainly be run with a full PvP fit.

With a few more skills, running lvl 3 missions in an AC Hurricane can be a lot of fun.
I recently had to get my standings up with a new corp for lvl 4 agents. I fit my hurricane with:
Gyrostabilizer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II Medium Armor Repairer II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Stasis Webifier II 10MN Afterburner II
425mm AutoCannon II 425mm AutoCannon II 425mm AutoCannon II 425mm AutoCannon II 425mm AutoCannon II 425mm AutoCannon II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
And blasted through them really fast. Only found one mission that needed the hardners changing to rat specific to complete. |

I sure as hell appreciate all your responses, yes I am a total noob, and looks like I'll be going with Nfty1's setup. I'm not pro actively trying to pvp yet but like most of you said just want to be able to get myself out of sticky situations if someone decides to stomp my face in, at least until I get my Sp's up.

ammo weighs so little that you should be able to hold some that's more mission specific as well as ammo that's well suited for pvp. personally i'd recommend a few thousand rounds each of EMP, Phased Plasma, and Fusion in case anyone ever decides to try to take you on...but Phased Plasma tends to be the general all-around ammo for t1 so it'll probably be effective in most of your missions as well -------------------

with your SP and experience, if anyone engages you in low sec, then you run
if you're ratting, always check local if you've jumped into a gate camp, burn back to the gate and jump (always have a mwd when you're not in a deadspace and roaming through low sec)

For the Rigs a safe bet would be a couple of Capacitor Control Circuits for increased cap recharge. Whether it's PVP or PVE, Cap is King, without it your set up, skills, or ship isn't worth beans.
But at 20m+ I'd wait on the rigs and focus more on ship equipment until you get some money banked. Really 2-3 rigs at 20m+ would equal or exceed the cost of your ship and fittings unless you're pimping some T2 or named gear.
A second fitted BC would go alot farther than 60m in rigs on a ship you just got podded out of

This. But another good option are Projectile Ambit Extension rigs. They increase the falloff range of your ACs, so your dps will be better and, when you grow up a bit and get t2 mediums, so you can engage other peeps well outside of web range. I am also a fan of Aux Thrusters, though that's for a pvp-speed fit where going 2400 m/s is an important surprise.

an orbit of about 5000 should haev you set. looks like a good setup, but get some named armor reps, preferably accomodation (best named), and go for N-Type active hardeners...those will ease up the fitting requirements significantly which will give you all the more flexibility on your ship. -------------------
