So I (Amarr) work hard and get my personal rating up to 3.03 with my current Lvl 1 agent (Personnel) and my Corp (Amarr) rating is 0.1.
All this so I can work with the top Lvl 2 agent (Administrative) of the same Corp. The Lvl 2's Agents requirement is to have a 2.95 for Personal, Faction or Corp rating.
So I think I am in.
I communicate with the Lvl 2 agent: He responds he is there to help me, or Am I ready to lay down my life, yada, yada, yada.
I say yes, and then he responds: You are not worth it...work with someone else done the corp line.
I then check the Agents tab of my corp and notince that none of the Lvl 2 Agents are available to me, even though I have met their req's.
What gives? What did I miss? Whom do I have to kill to move up the ladder?

Your personal raiting is your personal rating towards your lvl 1 agent....your personal rating towards those lvl 2 agents is 0.
for getting a new agent you have to raise the corp standing (because you can't raise the personal standing as long as you can't do missions for an agent).
go buy a "conections skill". it will increase your standings per training level by 0.4.

When you start with a new agent your standing with THAT agent is zero. Therefor you need your faction or corp standing to be high enough. The personal standing with the first agent only helps in that it gets you better missions/rewards so you can increase your faction and corp standings.

Connection skill is Lvl 2.
How do I raise my Personal Standing with a Lvl 2 Agent if I cannot work for him?

That's just it: You can't.
You have to increase the corp standing by doing missions for your lvl 1 until it reaches the requirements for another agent.

Oh... that just sucks.... 40 missions just to get to 0.1 Corp standing and I need a 2.95 to work with a Lvl 2 agent.
So much for agent missions.

naaa...with connections trained to lvl 4 you already would have an effective standing of 1.6. you would only need another 1.35. (some more then 1.35, the maths is some more complicated here...but it's a good aproximation).
the other point is: do you need 2.95 for the "cheapest" lvl2 agent in that company or only for the one you looked after? I would believe there are some for around 2.0 standing.
next point: 0.1 by doing 40 missions??? I can't believe that. Perhaps you are messing up corp- and faction standing? Or maybe you are using a really bad lvl 1 agent...even the lvl 1 agents differ in quality.

For what it is worth you connections skill raises your effective rating by about 0.4 per level, so your effective rating is about 0.81. Also "important" missions will increase your corp rating a lot faster then normal missions.
I know it is a long road to get to the 2.95 rating you want, but I would recommend getting your connections skill to level 3 (4 would be better, but may take to long), and try working for the best level 1 agent that will have you. Also keep an eye on your ratings and switch to a level 2 agent as soon as possible (even a crappy one is better then a level 1).

Connectoins dosn't effect standing unless they are above 0.0, and then it adds 5%(i think) of 10 - personal standing with agent.
so is you have a standing of 8.0 each level will add just 0.1 per lelvel of connetions (5% of 10-8.0), or at least something like that.
To get your standing with the corp or faction higher, you must do the importand missions, which come up about every 20, but each mission you refuse counts add another 2 missions before the important one, aggain this may not be exactly right, but it's something like this).

Where does it show my effective Corp Standing w/ Connection Skill mod's?
and yes I had a really bad Lvl 1 Agent, but then I thought Personal standing was all I needed. Live and learn. Another entry into the Mission 101 for Beginners website that hopefully someone is putting together.

Don't worry about the math or skill%ages or anything like that...
Just get connections to level 4 - that will save you a good few hundred crappy level 1 missions.
After that things will pick up speed.

@Lao Tzu: you are correct (but its 4%)
(10-standing)*4%
But for simple example: As long as your standing is zero, then it's equal to an increase in standing of 0.4 per skill level.
(10-0)*4% = 0.4
The other thing is: Connections is only working if you've got a positive standing (zero or slightly above). If your standing is negative (hostile) you need the diplomacy-skill.

Info about an Agent of that corp (not corp-info), sheet "Standings", sub-sheet "Relationship"
There you can see the agents and the corp's view towards you, described as: "Trinity Prime x.xx (Connections 2 raises your effective standing from y.yy)"

Do the newbie missions. They should get your Amarr faction to 2.0 and you should be able to access some lower quality level 2 agents.
Also get connections skill and train it up, like some people on this thread suggested.
You should have a level 3 agent in no time.

I think that connections won't work with a 0.0 rating, so it dosn't help you get new agents, but makes thoese agents get good fast.

Thank you to everyone who posted to this thread. You have been very helpful.
I only wish CCP had this down on a website somewhere before I started. Would have saved a lot of frustration.

That just says it all. You are not the only one whom it would have saved a lot of frustration. Manual wise this game is lacking big time. -------------------------

POI's: You only have to do one(1) mission with any of your corps agents (level 1-3) for the connections skill to apply to the corp as a whole. Get your connections skill up to level 4 ASAP, it will help immensly.
To see your connections skill standing you'll need to pull up your agents information, select the standings, then the relationship tab and scroll down. It will show you what your standing is with both the agent, agents corp, and agents faction.
2.95 is one of the better quality level 2 agents so I'd go back through the list to find a lower quality one that you will be able to accept sooner. This will help your standing with your corp to raise faster allowing you access to even higher level 2 agents faster than trying to do it with a level 1. I was wondering about this as well. I do not have a 2.96 standing with the Caldari Navy but do have a 2+ standing with Caldari State. I am able to do Navy Missions. Does you standing with the state affect over all with corperations belonging to that state?

I should clarify these would be Level 2 missions. I also do not have the connections skill.
