This has been a day The Establishment has long expected. It has been longer than we expected in fact, but it is true that we must regretfully report the destruction of Hera by the hands of those pesky Russians. She has been perhaps the most talked about, most feared, most respected Mothership in the entire game... not to mention one of the first to ever enter Tranquility. Love her or hate her, Hera has been and hopefully will always remain a major part of EVE History and The Establishment is honoured to have shown people the way forward with how to use these beasts.
How did this sad (or good depending on your opinion of us) news come to pass you might ask? It is perhaps a case of being stabbed in the back. The Establishment has been helping Ethereal Dawn escort Freighter convoy's through 0.0. Legion of Death are allies of ED and were told not to shoot at EST Ships. It seems though, that having seen our Capital Fleet in a previous engagement they set a trap for us and caught our convoy in a bubble. Naturally we jumped in our Capital's to defend the Freighters, but it seems backup arrived in the form of an RA Capital Fleet including a Titan.
Several bubbles were placed around our fleet and being unable to warp out, did our utmost to fight until the very end. Seek's Archon was the first to die (poor boy has lost 3 Carriers now), followed by my Thanatos - itself a survivor of 2-3 major attacks on her - and then Brox's Chimera. Finally all firepower was concentrated on Hera.
Cap dead, desynced and unable to fight against the remote repping of the enemy Capital Fleet, the ledgendary Hera finally succumbed to the onslaught. ED tried to stop the attack saying that we were allies, but alas it was too late. I might add, before rumours start circulating, that Rawthorm did not log off at any time during the attack, we discussed self-destruction on TS but we quickly decided we'd rather go down swinging.
It has been a tremendous 16 months, and The Establishment has had so many good times and good memories as a result. Regardless of what you think of us and how we used her, we know we used her to the very best of our abilities, wherever and whenever possible and many of you have the scars to prove it
