Firstly, and straight off the bat, anyone thinking that CVA are a damp squib of a force, welcome to getting your ass handed to you.
CVA know how to fight, they're well versed in fleet warfare and they have the isk to keep up a sustained fight. Thanks to having avoided the conflict to date they have been able to set themselves up with a huge fortified position in the middle of Providence they are now in a great position to assist IAC and friends.
However, the utter double standard of this declaration astounds me. Do CVA honestly expect people not to remember that CVA derided U'K for intentionally involving themselves in the greater conflict? Do they expect people to forget that they said their NAP with IAC was limited for only the most desperate of measures and only if one force was facing total destruction?
CVA had a nice little sandbox, the benefits of Providence to newer players, the NRDS nature of the region were a benefit to those wetting their feet in 0.0. Now they've chosen to ruin this before it was necessary to. They cite rumours and speculation but give no credible backing.
Either this is CVA admiting that their ties with IAC are deeper or it is IAC admiting that they fear extinction.
Either way, i have to say its a balsy move for CVA and it definitely strengthens IAC and co. Let the grand war role on :)

Edited by: Sapphrine on 26/08/2007 22:25:43 RA and X-Death take note!!
In case you haven't noticed CVA, EST just lost a Nyx class mothership in the North to the above parties owing to none perfect standings... i'd love to see how AAA deal with the standings and CVA's Supercaps :)

It isn't that hard to understand, is it?
Whilst the idea you're presenting is logical and ideal, it isn't achievable under the current game mechanics. Either AAA agree to being NRDS in providence and keep their pilots to it or they're red to CVA regardless of where they are. It can't be set any other way.
So this leaves you in a situation where one of three things happens.
1. AAA change their ways and don't shoot people in Provi that aren't red. All well and good, CVA has no problems, AAA etc. have none.
2. AAA do not set standings, CVA are red by necessity to them and they can lose super caps the same as EST did due to friendly(ish) fire :)
3. AAA will officially agree to NRDS in Providence and 'a number of unfortunate incidents' will occur but AAA will get to operate NBSI and CVA will get to claim that AAA are operating NRDS.
I think that any sensible commander will bank for option 3. with a little bit of hope.
At the end of the day, making NBSI groups operate NRDS is a real pain in the ass and doesn't work unless the NBSI group is very motivated to keep to the rules. Even then it only really occurs in the short term at best.
Good luck to all parties involved trying to resolve the standing fubar it is going to be!

the problem alot of us have popsikle is the way that CVA decried U'K's involvement in IAC vs ISS to repay an old debt and their members were incredibly aggreived by it and then a few months down the line.... they go and do the same thing.
The hypocrisy is where the bad taste is. TBH, if i was CVA i'd be looking at helping out iac too, they've had help in the past from them and CVA aren't at all bad at the old fleet combat fun :P

Originally by: Pezzle To be perfectly fair Sapp I think more of the heat back then was because CVA did not like ISS or UK while CVA did like IAC (and still does). As far as I am aware there was no ooc malice involved or CAOD hatewars.
i got the impression from the private discussions that a lot of the resentment was ooc tbh. Some of those conversations you were actually in iirc. In any case, water under the bridge, and FA speaking about it now will achieve. I've pointed out what i percieve as a double standard and i'm happy to leave it at a disagreement. About the best result we can expect eh? :P
