So EvE is usually a pretty harsh "ha ha i just destroyed 6 months of your work" kind of game.
I was wondering what the nicest thing you have done in EvE is?
Not so much giving ISK to someone in Jita who is begging but more like overhearing someones bad luck story in local and dropping them some cash, taking someone to the point of destruction then relenting for some reason and etc.

I help a lot of noobs out after I've killed them if they don't have a crap attitude about being killed.
Give them some ISK, advice on how to survive (worth billions of ISK in the long run). I'm way too nice.

When hunting solo I try to ransom people most of the time , sometimes agreeing on a pityful small amount...
I'm rather patient and will answer any questions after a ransom / kill , or just laugh at the smack.
I also like supporting my gangmates. I'm generally attracted to teamwork in games.

I was running missions the first week I started and some guy in a Raven saw I was having trouble in a mission off a gate and warped to a can. He killed all the rats for me and told me in local he wanted to try out his new precisions.

Some guy lost his rifter to rats, he asked in local if someone could pick his tin up. I said dock up at top station, and traded him about 10 mil of crap I had sitting in hanger.
Not a huge amount, but for a 2 week old guy...he was quite happy
I have done that a few times in systems, but don't tell anyone...I is an ebil piwat ..honest

hehe, i like how a few of the people who have repled so far are pirates
I also do my bit, been nice to some people i have killed by giving them advice on how not to be killed, Even given them warp stabs i have got of others peoples ships :P
its always weird when the person you killed ends up thanking you when they leave....
But not all the time Sometimes the smacktalk and hatemail is just too funny ! --------------------------------------------- "Trouble Every Day" |

Yeah that as well...I have been in half hour convo's with guys that I popped about set ups etc. A few times, I even bought the guy the ship back ...I know its not very hardcore, but if you gank a caracal in less that 5 seconds in a ruppy, you kind of feel guilty, and want the guy to come back and fight a bit harder

I sometimes give those newbies in nooblet ships a couple million isk. I tell them to buy skillbooks, but I know for a fact they'd rather spend it on ships they can't properly fit and fly.

I was delivering a Navy Apoc to a friend's friend in low-sec, and I used the trade window to give it to the WRONG PERSON!!
After asking nicely they gave it back Thanks Magic Crisp.

Or fail to ransom (pod evades lock) only to have that person deliberately send me the asked amount later , since I "deserved" it I suppose. It wasn't one of the token ransoms I mentioned above either , I estimated the old character's pod value to 100m and that is what I received. True story ! I was laughing in disbelief for quite a while...
Karma's been playful lately. It was a very nice day for me , today was not

I was a 2 week nubbins about to make a hi sec gate jump when i was targetted and attacked, panic ensued until I realised i was recieving no damage. yes I was a snowball victim! The attacker "Throbbinnoggin" then dumped 5 mill in my wallet and wished me merry Christmas. That 5 mill was an amazing windfall for a rookie. I still have him in my addressbook. i watch local and drop the odd million on Rookies in trouble.

When I started out, I had a player drop me a million isk to help me get a decent mining frigate and hauler and kit them out.
Since then, I have dropped a million in several rookies wallets to help them the same way. The evemail I send afterward is "Pay it forward. Help other new players later when you have enough isk to do it."

Not me personally, but my roommate who played for a bit wanted to explore 0.0, so he made his character got in a Rifter and just immediately took off for The Wildlands with no serious training. He cruised around there for quite a while without ever getting caught, for the most part people left him alone.
One day he got in a convo with someone out there who said to meet him. he immediately assumed he was going to die as he headed to the meeting point, but he was not only NOT podded, but the guy gave him 8 mil ISK to cover and future losses he should have.
Pretty hip cat.

On may way back to Empire (slowboat, known untrafficed pipe, checked ahead by a corpmate and clear), I spotted in lowsec what really was, an honest-to-god newbie to EVE. I was flying in a tackler frigate at the time, and was feeling a little evil, so I first said in local.
"<insert newbie's name>, what are you doing in lowsec"
"wait, this the place where you can get blown up and CONCORD doesnt help right?"
"yes"
"damn. First I get killed up in high sec and then I find out I wandered into lowsec. Go ahead, find me and kill me already."
(rough estimation of the convo. He used much more colorful and emoish language though, most of which would be ***-ed out)
So I it up, but right before scanning him down, I had a moment to look through his info. Poor guy's not even 3 weeks old. Then a corpie was in system and I brought it up with him. Seems that other locals around have been mangling this newbie in the neighboring highsec with scams, and even a attempted suicide gank on his indy.
Considering the xenophobic "I'm all alone against the world" attitude he was giving me, no surprise.
So I scanned him down and proceeded the ing.
I then stopped halfway through his armor.
"What?! Kill me already!"
"There's one rule of EVE. You're never alone. Think about it."
I then left.
To this day, I've never seen him again. I hope he's well whereever he is -

Back when I was still on trial, I was ratting in a split range Thrasher with Armour and Shield tank (using extenders because I didn't know about resists, or keeping the same range guns on my ship ). I was attacked in a belt by a Harpy. After most of my armor was gone, he asked me to stop firing, so I did.
The guy thanked me for helping me test out his new AF, and bunged me 1 mill for repairs :)

well ive done quite a bit for the new player community - but its difficult to seperate new players from the scamming new alts, but that aside i suppose the kindest thing ive done is giving 3 months of mission rat loot to a new player (i was pretty sure he was new - who knows though prob a scammer)

I helped out some carebear miners that were being attacked by an Ishtar...
They were asking for my help, and their apoc was supposed to be warping into the belt with me to kill the damn Ishtar. The apoc was set up for mining, so I obviously died.
No good deed ever goes unpunished.

Last Christmas some guy on the forums was scammed out of the last of his ISK when buying a time card. His account was expiring that day and he seemed very upset about it. I bought him a GTC, sent him it and said if he gets his petition sorted to send me 100m for it.
If the petition wasnt resolved then it was to be an early chirstmas pressie.
thats about as nice as i get (and only once year) - dont wann ruin my image.

I remember a corp mate losing a ship that cost less than I had just received as a mission time reward. I listened to the assessment of how much they would need to earn before they could buy a new one and casually asked "So how much is in your account at the moment?"
Needless to say it was higher than it had been a moment before.

That was a good week or so before i could afford the cruiser skill/ship/mods so it helped a lot.
