One year ago, Tides was founded.
One year ago, our former corp, AAST, made with a bunch of new players or sub 2M sp, disbanded, because of a ransom war by coreli.
The real reason behind being a maybe too ambitious development plan from the directors, who put us in 0.0/lowsec in derelik, while we had no way to defend. juicy targets for the locals, which promptly ate us
At the end the corp was going for forced ops and forced things, which kinda suck in a game :p
a corpmate and i thought about it and created Tides of Silence. The goal of the corp was a low profile, fun, relaxed corp. We planned to stay in empire, as long as we could. we play eve for fun, i sure dont want a nerd to ask me to login on sunday 3am to shoot a pos
So it started. an open door recruitment policy at first, just a convo where we simply offered nothing but a relaxed home.
We were quickly surprised to see the amount of people disgruntled from alliance dramas that came in. It was a bit strange to recruit 50+M sp people who came with 5x the corp assets in their hangars lol.
We were living at the border of UshraKhan and ISS space, near 9uy, where UK kindly allowed us to deploy a pos. The ghetto life! we lived from those hangars, doing occasional market and production in UK/ISS stations
We did not want to join any alliance at this time, because what the hell would be the interest for us.
It grew so fast that at a point we closed recruitment.
I met a lot of really fun people, and my corpmates became my online buddies that are the reason i play eve
After a while, around october last year i think, we joined a local alliance neighbour to UK. it didnt last a week. there was no structure in place, nothing.
Some drama happened later on with other founder, who offered me to become ceo. before that he picked a random alliance in the north, we had NO clue of who was who in the north. southern residents, non political, so eh that was far
We picked smash and were accepted, and joined it. there the life was a bit more different. the alliance asked a lot, but we really met some psycho pvpers who taught us some ropes. it was a fun time, even if there was a lot going on through smash leadership (at that time). but i met nice people there too.
Sadly we had picked a bit at random and it is true the average playstyle in smash was way different than ours. from first day i made clear we might have to go, because the pressure on corp was a bit too strong.
Anyway the spirit remained the same. directors and ceo making the "filter" between the drama and the members. members have a home and trust us for this.
We left smash and hesitated between RK and Hydra. after a chat with Cosian, the Hydra chief of staff, we were really convinced it was a place in which we could do something
That's where we still are, and are really happy to be here. A lot has been happening since the day we joined, and it has been a really nice experience to see an alliance grow and change completely, while our corp being a little part of the change
We have now accomplished some things in game, few things, we built some nice toys and other things, but most important, the group has been a blast.
At first we had the discussions about rifter fittings, now we discuss carrier ones, and its still the same good old guys.
I hope i will annoy you more next year with the 2nd year birthday :)
Anyway this game is a giant piece of fun, and when you think you done anything, you realize there is 5x more to do :p
Yarrr /me raises pint, one for CAOD
Happy birthday Tides of Silence :) ------
