tbh they would be just fine if neutron blasters could hit anything within any kind of resonable range. If tomb in his infinite wisdom could figure out a way to make the stupid things hit within their range instead of just at their optimal, hybrids would be fine. Right now 425's practically never miss but dont deal enough dmg to be useful with less tracking then neturons. So fix the neutron blaster probably by extending it's optimal range or accuracy fall off a bit (whichever would help) so that the hybrids would be usefull again.
just my 2cents after my corp tested the crap outta them and found no viable way to use them. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

I just started to use 425mm rails and neutron blasters and I am incredibly impressed with them. I did not use them earlier because all of the negative opinions, but frankly, I do not aggree. They have been amazing weapons and outperform lasers and projectiles against npc's. I would, although, more than likely use projectiles against other players.
I just wanted to provide another opinion and respect the original posters view.

I have also been testing hybrids, and they definatly do not suck. Megatron with blasters, MWD, heavy cap injector.. works quite good.
maybe railguns suck slightly on Caldari ships, they do not on gallente..
this is, ofcourse, in PvP |

BOTH 425mm railguns and blasters ROCK.
The Caldari ship bonus sucks, but hybrids are still the way to go on caldari ships.

Long-range is the way to go and nothing beats 425mm's.

Blasters rock. Could do with a tracking boost though, cos I get a lot of misses on bs's while orbiting them at optimal.
And that's with BS 4, tracking skill thing 4. .

I've switched to 4 425mm's on my Scorpion.
Got sick of seeing my missiles go to waste.

that was what i was eluding to with the neutron blasters. As far as 425's go to me it seems the 1400's have the out matched dmg wise at longer ranges which with those 2 factors it seemed that while they were not unuseable thtat there are better choices. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

Edited by: dalman on 07/02/2004 21:04:55 No. People are staring themself blind on the big damage of 1400mm's. Considering damage/time, a 425mm rail (and certainly if it's on a megathron), outdamage the 1400mm at all ranges.
*edit* though, using 425mm rails requires you to pack more types of ammo in your cargo)

What is with people, they see a single 1500 hit from a 1400mm and think theyre the best thing since quafe. The fact that 425s fire at double the rate of a 1400mm more than makes up for the damage of a 1400mm.

However, it's that high single-hit damage that makes 1400's great gank guns.
I do find it funny though, people get obsessed with the hard hits of the 1400, forgetting it takes something like 25 seconds to reload :) During that time, you can fire SEVERAL shots with a 425mm rail :)

that is true unless you use a tempest. with the rof bonus i believe one of my corp members fires once ever 12 seconds compared to the 425's rof and dmg I think the 1400 adds up better. The swaping ammo can hurt as well witht he 425 but that's a differnt issue. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

Yes, 1400mm's are definately the way to go on a Tempest. Very rarely on any other ships though...

Naw, i have great skills for a tempest, My RoF is about 9.4 sec.
Thats with many level 5 skills and top of the range mods though. An average pilot will be hitting 11-13 secs on a tempest.
On any other ship your looking at 14+ secs.
The only time i would ever consider putting a 1400mm on another ship is for Long range NPC hunting. Mercenary | The Azath |

I have tested 1400mm and 425mm yesterday and unless you can bring down your rof under 12 or 13s for 1400mm forget using it. ______

Exactly. They have double the RoF, double the tracking speed, and four times the ammo capacity (lasting twice as long with the RoF).
The ONLY reason Hybrids suck is the pitiful sound they make. In that aspect, 1400s rule all.
