Oh please
There is nothing tasteless about it, in fact it is adding a whole load of flavour to the eve world, a dark future/sci-fi world where people die and other people kill them.
Do you find the screaming noise when you biomass a character equally tasteless?

Or maybe thats just me and all the bf1942/hl2 people who play this game will tell me that I suck for not liking it
Maybe you should read the Chronicle "Methods of Torture: Gallente" if you think that harmless picture is over the top. Compared to some of the crazy (but entertaining) things in the Chronicles I doubt that picture will do any more damage to our souls.
I like EVE exactly because it's dirty and dark and thats very well portrayed in the Chronicles.

Not that i play BF or HL, so can't answer on their behalf, but i think that you're being a tad immature on this. As mentioned above, there's no splattering so where's the offense? Only thing i whould complaint on is the fact that the artist behind it didn't sign his/hers work, as i'd like something like that for a signature (hint-to-the-artist-hereby-given).

Originally by: Sicil Fioet there's a difference between mature and sick - at least for my taste the front page glimpses pictures and stories prominently featuring aggression, violence, torture, dismemberment, death, etc. far too often ... i mean you kind of start to wonder, what is this game for people with sadistic personality disorder and necrophiliacs?
Who are you? Just because at least 50% of eve are carebears and most of those don't pvp unless they have to doesn't mean that EVE is meant to be some sort of utopia. If you take a look at the facts the grim reality will be just as bad if not worse if we ever get out into space.
And here we are playing a game that has all its non-pvp facets fueled by pvp. Then come the carebears with their stares and attack anything remotely violent.
I suppose you would have more stories with nothing in them but love and romance. There are some of those in the chronicles. If I don't fancy one I won't read it a second time. If you do not find appeal in the pictures then do not look at them and do not tell everyone else what needs to be censored, thank you.
You must live a sheltered life because people get shot every day all over the city and this here is just a story for a fictional universe.

NO NO NO READ "PARADIGM SHIFT" EON #007
His not in a pod...
I do not read EON, but this website's articles tell us thus.
I'm not entirely convinced that EON (published by a third party unrelated to CCP) is entirely canonical, seeing as a number of their stories seem to contradict the prime fiction. It could be that they're the "new canon", and the information on the website has to be retconned, or that technology has marched on considerably (and no-one has thought to tell us mere pod pilots) but until I see someone telling me as such, I don't believe it. As far as I'm concerned, this website is the primary source of fiction, and that it takes priority where it conflicts with other sources.
EDIT: And incidentally, one of the main reasons (I'm led to believe) that they bothered to include the stuff about cloning being extremely dangerous and unpopular for non pod pilots is to solve the problem of having a universe where everyone is immortal. Thanks to that reasoning, only the minuscule number of elite citizens (just 200k out of several hundred billion) have "immortality", while the rules of death still apply to everyone else.
Changing that is no small step for the fiction to take. --------

Let me say it again in a slightly different way -> I personally find fictional or real pictures of people getting shot in the head to be distasteful (at best). That does not make me a carebear/blind/communist/elephant (delete as applicable).

Well, I did read that story. I don't remember exactly what happened, but what I do know is that, at least now, all stories submitted to EON to go through CCP for checking at some point.
Anyway. Personally I see nothing wrong with that picture. The chronicles and art of EVE are there to show us just what kind of world it is. And CCP wish it to be dark, cruel and violent. This means that they have to write and draw in ways that bring this vision to life, or it's pointless.
You are not forced to read the stories, or look at the artwork for them. But they should not be censored. Anyone who is old enough to be playing this game should be aware that they have a choice when it comes to what they read and look at. You need to use that choice to not view the image, and you need to leave the choice open to others so that they can.

You are a damn hypocrite. You just made a broad personal attack on anyone that disagrees with your views. Just because you find the world full of sunshine does not mean that everyone else deserves to have wool over their eyes and to feign ignorance of any violence.
What is mature content is what you can skip and not read.
Saying we are all gun crazed and so obsessed with headshots that we play gun games all day is definitely not any sort of insult. Calling you a carebear is an insult, though. I respect your view completely. Since this is too graphic lets censor it from everyone.

It has nothing to do with counterstrike online :S TBH I smell a troll
The eve has backstory to try and make it a bit more than just "internet spaceships lulz". This backstory is dark, gritty and violent. The eve universe has death, slaves, drugs, blood cults, exotic dancers, booze, violence and death.
Not to flame but honestly: If you find this distastefull why did you pick a game that is billed as a dark future world?

That's not what I mean when I say "what kind of world it is". The point of the chronicles isn't meant to describe what you can do it game, it is supposed to flesh out the world the game is set in.
For instance. World of Warcraft is a game set in the fictional place that is Warcraft. There are many stories, and lots of information relating to it, that never appears, or is not playable, in the game. This stuff exists to bring depth to the game. To supply something that players (well, roleplayers) can use to understand how they should act within the game itself. It exists to show why some things are as they are in the game.
It's exactly the same for EVE. But instead of elves and swords, we talk about spaceships and lasers.
Quote:

Well, perhaps this is the case. But you can avert your gaze, or click on one of the other little buttons underneath the picture to go to something else. I suppose that doesn't help too much, but I still don't believe it is right for CCP to have to censor this stuff because a small group of people find it offensive. Maybe a slightly edited picture for the front page then.
Edit: Although saying that. Perhaps it is a good idea to leave it as that on the front page. Seeing it serves as a warning to those who find such things distasteful what kind of game they should expect to be playing if they sign up for EVE.
