I just wondered if the various leadership skills apply to myself when i'm solo (not solo in a gang but truly solo)?

I swear i see my speed being the same whether im solo, gang leader, or grouped with any member from my corp. My speed always seems to be 132m/s, which is strange as i have leadership skills, and one of the regulars has probably higher leaderships. Maybe im imagining things, ill have to double check my solo speed (definitely 132m/s ganged).

You need to convert the gang to a fleet (right-click and convert), and make the person with the leadership skills squad-leader of the squad.

What does it mean when it's converted to "fleet"? Other than gang bonuses being applied.

When you convert to fleet you can have several wings who again contain several squads. Every wing gets specific gang bonuses from it's wing commander. A fleet is basically nothing more than a potentially bigger but mostly more organised gang.

Actually the mechanic is a bit more involved. You need to be set as the fleet/wing/squadron booster to apply your leadership bonusses. This was a fairly recent change to allow people outside of the chain of command to provide the gang bonusses without relinquishing their positions. By default the booster is the commander though.
