I do believe there is life outside of Earth's biosphere (aliens on other worlds, or variations on that theme) but I don't believe for a moment that they come to earth and abduct hill billies. Or that they've come to Earth at all.
Space is so mind-numbingly big and life is almost certain to be relatively sparse within it (most places are just too hostile). If a space faring alien people managed to stumble upon a planet teeming full of intelligent life, I honestly can't imagine them just lurking around and not doing anything. It seems so remarkably far fetched that life would evolve at almost exactly the same time near by, that it'd discover a way of busting the laws of physics and travelling easily between stars, and then would stumble upon life at almost exactly the same stage of evolution, AND would then just kind of ignore it (with the exception of the odd southern US hill billy). It's all just too much coincidence for me to swallow. ------

Heh, I know a guy who does crop circles. Nothing supernatural about them. He showed me his equipment (a plank, a tent peg and some rope) and he showed me two of his bits of handiwork- one a conventional looking network of circles and triangles, and another a giant heart shape. Living in Wiltshire ftw \0/
People who think you need a spaceship to make a crop circle clearly underestimates human ingenuity ------

So your friend can make a perfect giant crop circle in less than 2 hours without making a sound and without being filmed by the camera team standing next to them? I want to see that.
Takes him about 4 hours, but yeah. And not on his own- he does it with about 3 other people.
And you'd be surprised how many fields there are in Wiltshire- most of them are a mile or so from the nearest house, and there isn't a camera team on station next to all several thousand of them
And some of the farmers know it's them. The one with the giant heart actually requested it, although the geometric circles / triangles one didn't know. ------

Edited by: Patch86 on 01/09/2007 17:46:29 Edited by: Patch86 on 01/09/2007 17:46:16 It always amazes me that despite the fact that the "joke" has long since ended and most circle makers have owned up (there was even a television program on a few years ago showing one - a complex chequered pattern - being made over night, in the pitch blackness, by a small group of middle aged blokes) there are still people who insist that aliens are coming down and bending wheat in to the shape of ying & yangs in fields in Wiltshire...
I mean honestly now, tell me straight- what would you take as incontrovertible proof that they were made by humans? What would be necessary to persuade you?
EDIT: The Wikipedia article has a good list of the various names in circle making. Follow the citations if you want something a bit more solid than Wikipedia itself to read. ------

I can only offer you the principal community site for circle makers Circlemakers.org which is chock full of proof, articles, howto's, interviews and god knows what else. I'd try to find you one of the several TV programs that featured complex patterns being filmed in the making, but I seriously don't have that much patience ------

This is quite probably one of excruciatingly few times in your life when "humans from another time & dimension" is ever going to follow the phrase "more likely" ------

Personally, I think the new weather balloons are really good at flying around.
I guess it could also be satellites flying around, or stars moving about in the universe. Or perhaps another example of optical illusions. Maybe birds when the sun hits them? Ice particles? Meteorites? Space junk falling into our atmosphere?
Yeah....
That video is really funny. The caption on the right points out how they show "intelligent control"; to me, it looks like theyre flying arounbd in random, zig-zagging loops, double back on themselves every few seconds, and generally looking drunk.
So either we have interstellar craft capable of travelling billions of miles through deep space, but completely unable to fly ina straight line, or we have Aliens DUI
Video is made of pure funny ------

Jim, here's something to chew on: Rare Earth hypothesis.
Thats based on our current knowledge of the universe, much like im sure there was works describing how the earth must be flat, or how the earth was the center of the universe once.
In short, we dont know ****.

Yeah. There are plenty of videos of crafts flying in a straight line too. Generally called balloons, despite flying against the wind. But why take notice of minor details like that. Lets make a joke instead. :)
By the way, what do you think the objects are?
No clue tbh. But that's not ever so telling- the number of things of which I have no clue about are many and varied. When I see something I can't identify, "aliens" is not usually the first possibility that springs to mind.
Still made me lol though ------
