Without becoming involved with the current debate:
Yes. There are too many coincidences and too many incidents, even given the 95% rate of hoaxes/natural phenomenon. ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |

In addition to the two videos in my last post, did you see this one? Space junk have a habit of popping up and standing still like that? In a formation? Optical illusion?
It's impossible to say that they're actually in formation from one camera, since it only provides a two-dimensional picture (and not even an especially good one) in a 3D environment. We can't truly say that they're in formation unless we have several cameras filming from different angles that can confirm the 3-dimensional positions of the objects.
That's the problem with the vast majority of UFO evidence - it's incomplete. Even with several cameras filming at different angles there's little actual content regarding the objects that were seen. We never see any zoomed-in pictures or high quality images unless they're faked, as such it's hard to believe.
I should say that I do believe aliens have visited the Earth, but it's hard to claim that as a scientific fact because the evidence is so scarce (relatively speaking). ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |

Alright.
What kind of scientific proof are you after?
You said the magic word, SCIENTIFIC. Up to this date, no real science has been done on this issue.
You need hard data for that. For hard data, you actually need UFO's to exist.
Since they don't exist, there is no hard data...
Get it?
Ah, but that's circular logic - it's not valid thinking to believe that no evidence for the existance of something means it absolutely doesn't exist. It suggests that conclusion, but it's not fact. In addition, "evidence" for something is limited by current technology and potential cognitive biases in addition to other environmental factors. There is a need to compile some hard data on the issue, but it's a bit difficult to do unless you cover the entire Earth's surface with high-resolution optical/thermal/EM reading instruments. Otherwise you work with information gleamed from photographs or fairly unscientific instruments of recording.
EDIT:
Originally by: Jim McGregor Well, there are high quality pictures as well, taken up close. Problem is that those look fake. They look like models. For example, the pictures on this site (scroll down). Those pictures were taken in 1975-1976 and experts say they are not faked. They simply didnt have the technology to do that. Personally, I was born in 1975 and remember how the computers were when I grew up, so... :)
But I think those look like some kind of scam still. They are TOO good, and thats the problem with that kind of pictures. They arent believable but looks like models.
Those photos are still limited by the technology of the time - experts might not be able to find flaws in those photos that might be proved if the photo was a high-resolution digital photograph. By the same note, if they're real then high-quality digital photos could vindicate them as they give analysts much more data to examine. ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |

Originally by: DarkMatter Exactly. It will take $$$$ to scientifically address this issue. Money no government, university, or private company worth anything is willing to spend. Why do you think that is?
Absence of evidence is indeed not evidence of absence however until that data is collected and scientifically scrutinized, we just have stories. All stories get you is a cult following, like religion, not based on fact, just emotion...
For me personally, I have had my fill of eye witness accounts & bad pictures...
Yep, we're pretty much on the same page. I still believe in alien life but when you see these "investigators," 95% of the time they're obviously trying to match the evidence with their beliefs, not the other way around. Their methods are completely unscientific more often than not and they obviously put what they believe above any real evidence. Then they're suprised when most people don't take them seriously. There are a few times when this isn't the case, but they're extremely hard to find. It's refreshing when it happens though. ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |

Actually, I'm of the opinion that the USA is the last real superpower. Speaking in older terms...
I think for hundreds of years to come, there will still be sense of country, but the seeds of globalization have taken root, and independent superpowers won't really exist from this point on. The US is declining due to globalization, and globalization will be the reason no true superpowers arise in the future.
This is not good for national pride, but that's ok. It's about time humans start feeling planetary & human pride as a replacement...
The only reason the US is considered a superpower atm is due to our econimoic & military capabilities, and the gap to the next country.
I don't think we'll ever see such a gap again in human civilization... Unless we have an extinction event, and start over...
Agreed. When has rampant nationalism ever caused anything but war, unwarrented discrimination, and paranoia? ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |

Originally by: Sharupak After that, there will just be one currency. Kinda sounds like it was done by design doesnt it? I am afriad that while globalization has seeded itself, one more war will be needed to completely strip every country of its wealth, sovrienty, and individual rights before we have the New World Order.
Doubt it...nationalism will die out with a wimper, not a bang. A massive global war isn't very economical, so you would be hard pressed to convince any major country to go to war with a country large enough to pose a serious threat. ------------ Whiners - Unite! | Posting and You Tarminic - Forum Warfare Specialist. |
