Celeach	Posted - 2007.09.02 04:02:00 - [1] I was wondering what would be the Gallente equivalent to a Rifter? I always here the Rifter being referred to as the best T1 Frigate, does the Gallente have one that competes?

Ay'Not Sivad Minmatar D-L	Posted - 2007.09.02 05:03:00 - [5] if you're comparing the rifter to gallente frigs, then please stop, take a step back.. and realize that you don't want to fly gallente. on a more anti-gallente/serious note, if you're talking about gallente's rifter alternative, it'd have to be the incursus. this is simply because the rifter and incursus are both the Tier III frigates. they also are both the TI hull of each race's assault frigates. Reem Fairchild	Posted - 2007.09.02 08:20:00 - [8] The closest Gallente equivalent to the Rifter is the Tristan, except that the Rifter is faster and has the option to use 3 guns and one launcher instead of 2 of each if it wants to. The closest Caldari equivalent to the Rifter and Tristan is the Merlin. The closest Minmatar equivalent to the Incursus would be the Breacher.

From the point of view of ship Heirarchy, Tristan = Breacher, Incursus = Rifter. Tristan/Breacher both become their respective races' Stealth Bombers (Nemesis/Hound, respectively) while Incursus/Rifter become their respective races' Assault Ships (Enyo/Ishkur/Wolf/Jaguar, respectively). From a slot point of view, I can see Tristan = Rifter, Incursus = Breacher, but given their bonii: Tristan = 5% damage, 10% falloff [for rails \o/] Incursus = 5% damage, 10% falloff [blasters] Breacher = 5% Missile damage, 10% Explosive Missile Damage [Light missiles? In fact, never had any problems with one. The only setup I might be somewhat afraid of is plate + rockets. Light missile setups will get caught, webbed, and then completely and uttterly slaughtered. Also, if I get single-volleyed from 20km away badly, well, I can just MWD out of range in no time and warp off. Anyway, tristans are very good, if you have good: -frigate skills (important for every ship, of course) -support skills (important for every ship, though) -rocket/missile skills (heh, this is where Rifter requires less SP) -drone skills (the drone is important, but does require more SP then the Rifter) -gunnery skills So, basically, while a Incursus can be very good, it's plagued by needing to train three weapon systems instead of one for the Rifter. Or two, if you aim for max performance...
