I'd like to see this, then i could pop half the Amarr Navy, collect buckets of tags and get myself loads of Faction gear and not have to worry about something as insignificant as 'cause and effect'.

If you need to raise standings with Gallente and cannot go in Gallente space, you can work them up with Minmattar agents.

Edited by: Imperator Jora''h on 04/09/2007 14:44:45 You can stay in the POS research corp even if you lower standings. They only need standings to ANCHOR the POS. Once that is done what their standings are does not matter unless they want to anchor more stuff later. While waiting for that day grind your standings up with Caldari.

When you join a corp your standings are averaged out with all other players in that corp to produce the corp standing. If your prospective corp you want to join requires high standings for high sec POS and you have 0 with that faction then you will drag the corp average down.
Your caldari standings being high will not play a part other than the effect that gaining that standing has had on your Gallente standing. It could still be high as long as your Gallente one is raised too as that is the only one that counts.
Hope that clears it up. If you have a reasonable standing with Gallente then you can do missions to bring it up if you can access an agent. I would suggest that you contact the corp you want to join and ask them if you could tag along in a gang when one of their guys does high end missions so your standings will increase faster. ------ Shakor Clan Information Portal |

I am pretty sure standings of 0 are ignored for calculating corp standings. However, where faction standings are concerned it's a matter of time before you will do something that adds or subtracts 0.01 and then you're worse off than if you'd stuck with 3 ----- I'll be in my pod |

There is a huge difference between having a '0' standing and having no standing. A '0' standing is taken into account where as a NULL standing isn't.

Name changes occur if:
It's offensive and petitioned. If the character is a Dev and was discovered as one.
It may even be possible to have a name changed if you are being harassed non-stop by people, but I have no idea about that.

as i know name doesn't get changed. alot of people knows who the devs ingame chars are.
if your name is reported and turns out to be offensive enough to be against eula, the char gets banned.
harassing will not help you there, only reporting the people doing it will get them a warning with a banning if they don't stop.
i have no idea how you could get your name changed, but i sure would love to know, since it is something that would be very sweet to do

Major empires negative standings can usually be recovered. You just need to work for minor factions a lot (like Ammatar, Khanid, Sisters of EVE, etc), and you should still have access to those minor factions even if you screwed up your major faction standings badly due to the caps in place. What CAN NOT be recovered so easily however is pirate faction standings, because they only have positive standings with eachother, and negative with most empires... so, you're very likely to be denied access to most (if not all) factions you could use to recover the negative standings.

You can actually see this quite nicely. Go into your corp page and then into the standings section. Find the faction in there that you want to check, right click on it and select "View Composition".
This will give you a list of all corp members that are contributing the the standings towards that faction. This list may or may not be everyone in your corp since, as mentioned, those with null standings aren't included.
I'm told the actual standings decay towards the current average by 25% of the difference between the current standings and the current average every day.
