EVE is okay and 1 of 2 MMORPG's I play. DAoC has better overall game balance and is lightyears ahead of CCP in customer service and customer response.
I stick with EVE because I think the graphics are great, I like space stuff better than magic stuff and I keep hoping that CCP will finally implement some of the things they have been promising since beta. (And, yes, I realize my subscription fees are just enabling CCP to ignore us even longer. It's a co-dependnet kinda thing).
There is no shame in ignorance. But refusing enlightenment when it is freely offered? Well, that is just stupid |

Been playing this game since June last year .. I would play it 24 / 7 if I could.
There is something different about this game, unlike other MMO's that I have played. I can't explain what it is .. it's that 'lil somthing' that makes a game permenantly fun.
The only 'somthing else' that I'm interested is Eve 2. BTW .. how do I register for Eve 2 Beta? Am I he first to ask? -TT

Been playing since around june last year too.
For a while I was getting so bored with Eve I was ready to quit becuase all I was doing was logging in to chat in between production runs. After a while I decided to try pvp and pirating. Now im back and hooked again, when I find things dull I just see what I can do to push myself that bit harder and it keeps me interested.
Apart from the occaisional round at halo or cs EVE is the only game I ever play these days.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

I played Eve since the beginning and hitting my 7.5 mill skillpoints soon. i had all the fun i needed with chainspawning npcs and hunting playerpirates, but suddenly....!!!!!, tech II was knocking on the door, woow i thought, new fresh air to the game. when i installed the new patch could not wait to get online, but when i did i couldnt find anything new about the game, onlything new was stuppid unuseful things i could get as an reward by doing some real boring missions ABSOLUTELY without a point. there was nothing else to do in the game, invincible npc,s, no chainspawning, no minning, tryed to do some pvp too, but came to that conclusion that pvp in this game is stuppid too(at this time) cause theres to much to loose if you leave the station in your battleship, not like other mmorpg,s where death dont mean that you have to mine for a month. i kept away from the game 2 monts soon, but still check forums everyday, and from what i can see theres no big development in the game, and its sad to see that ccp are busy closing posts about people quiting. in the buttomline, i think its not fun playing eve anymore, ccp screwed up bigtime in my opinion.

As I firmly believe, for everyone, there is an MMO that is suited.
So far I've tried Neocron for a year, and am now playing Eve.
I've gone very much from one end of the scale to the other.
Neocron you could cap a character in a month if you knew what you were doing, and it was FPS. Eve is obviously the total opposite.
So I shall continue to try and make from this what I can, but I think it's just not me. *Smiles*
I'd try Planetside, but that's what BF1942 is for, and BF is free. :)
Oh, and if anyone would be interested in buying a six month registered account on the cheap, let me know.

For me Eve is great.
I soetimes get bored with it , but it just means i have been palying to much, i do a pause and i have fun again.

NOTE to the original poster of what I am about to quote - I am not bagging you, you just brought up some shallow points.
Quote: i really love this game. there is so much to do and see..and blow up!
I saw it all in a week, after a while its point click fly look at some things now and then while i read a book. Shooting things isnt that hard also. From both a PvP point of view where I used an ALT and beat the snot out of folks it was just a numbers game, whomever had the more numbers played. From this characters point of view with combat - the AI is as deep as a teaspoon and has no thought pattern what so ever and can be combated against easily.
Quote: the fact that you can be anything you want is just amazing. granted certain professiosn have consequences,
CCP promised a crap load of things, I am still waiting to see bounty hunters, player police narcs and drug smugglers. The current professions are Griefors, Non griefors and carebears who either mine or shoot handicapped AIs all day.
Quote: the graphics are soooo pretty sometimes i just fly around and explor to look at different planets.
Hmm a gold fish has the same lifestyle. "Look a rock" then swims around again, "Look a rock". EVE is no different "Look a planet" fly around "Look a planet" - until you can do something with it, its just eye candy.
Quote: eve is huge. go. play. have fun.
EVE is huge but still shallow if you look beyond the basics.

what can i say ..ive been playing since the begining of may .as soon as me and my wife get home from work we log on to eve ..and whilst eve does get very repetative at times the only other option is watching crappy bloody reality game shows on british television..so eve gets my vote any day ....for the moment

Im suffering from Eve overkill, so am taking a sabbatical. Playing Eve is preferential to watching British TV, as Jason pointed out, but then so it watching paint dry.
I might come back when they've sorted the market out a bit, until then, its adieu... -------------------------------------------- Dead

In the last 3 months i didn't had alot of fun, it was maily caused by my corp breaking up, not finding a new one that fit my describtion, npcs either too uber or too weak, therefor it was to risky to pvp since i was all alone and it was almost certain i would lose more isk than i would have as income.
Now i got my new accounts and training them to be uber frigate pvp pilots and i must say that is hella fun.
You get shot twice and your gone so you need to know your tactics well before heading in. Move alot for guns to miss you and keeping in mind of large smartbombs and other items.
In a battleship im rather relaxed, i have nice oversight and it goes a little slot. But when you are in a frigate fighting you can't do alot of damage to these objects unless your using a swarm technique (alot of them that is). Frigates go faster, you have to stay more sharp and react fast. Its fun for me. __________________________

Simple answer is NO, the only reason im still playing eve is because of its great potentioal, but every patch, i lose hope for a better future.....
And the other reason im still playing coz the guys i play and speak with on TS are a real great bunch of guys (and girls)

An astonishing game. I play a lot of BF1942 as well though. I think some people just play eve too much.

I haven't read all the replies to this topic (not enough time during my lunch hour) so..
Yes I enjoy playing EVE a lot. I've been here since early June and done everything there was on offer (except pirate/griefer) until joining m0o. This is by far the best part of the game for me even though now I'm roundly hated by all those I have known previously.
I'm not discussing other MMORPGs here but I've tried SWG and it didn't capture my interest. I have a feeling WoW won't appeal either as the theme of EVE interests me much more than the D&D variants.
Other than that I'm a CoD and mohaa Uber Sniper but I do this at slow times in EVE or when I need to kill stuff and people are hiding in safe spots and stations.
In conlusion: it's not a placeholder for me.
That's my twopenneth.

Ahhh Ariell, that lovely 'skirt' sig again ;)
I did have fun playing Eve, in May and June of last year.. then it didn't seem so good for a while, but i think things are gradually improving again now.
It's a good tip, i used it myself. Taking a break for a while, and come back somewhat refreshed.
There are many good games around, and limited time for playing. The problem is Eve eats up a lot of time.
These perpetual online worlds are all very well, but you know we can't all sit at home all day and play for 15 to 20 hours a day

The game is ace, come back on last night for the first time in 3 weeks. I took a break caus all the waiting around to blow people up was getting boring, i logged on and was pretty much in a fight striaght away. Was playing SWG in the time i had a break /emote shudders. Like another guy said in a post bfore me, some people just play too much... If it starts to do ya head in, do what i do and have a break, you will come back refreshed and want to play again.

Been playing since the start and I don't think I'll be here in another 8 months.

I use to love playing eve, would spend every waking moment exploring, mining and shooting stuff. I had to take time out from eve due to being skint , now i'm back here again, I just can't get into it.
Agent missions are dull, unrewarding, mining is dull, i'm also a miner/scientist so I have no chance in PVP.
Maybe it's just a matter of overkill, doing so much so soon, I'm deffinately not going to give up on eve, it has a shed load of potential.
I may delve into other mmorpgs, I think it's innevitable to get a bit restless with any game, no matter how much it offers, such is life.
One thing i'd like to see are more events, Frigate march really made an impact on me, so many people getting together to have a good time, I got podded, but that was part of the great night in
PVP aspect of the game is a bit too much for me at the mo too, I have nothing against it or those who partake in such joys of killing others, it just becomes an inconvenience (for me) as it means more mining to get the money back for gear.
Bahh!, words!
