Besides EVE online "duh". Also post their "status" as is.
here's a few of my favorites Infantry- gone downhill, not worth playing
Planetside-my computer crashes every time i try to play for some reason. Worth checking out though if you can. "I seem to be the only person with this problem"
Ogre Battle 64- Great game, unusually long play time. But once it's over it's done. Bearly made it on the list.
Guitar Hero II- Either you like it, or you forget about it. But for me & a couple of my friends it's REALLY fun weekend thing to do together.
Empire Earth II- Great game, but the players only want to play on fast "newb" pace anymore. Losing all strategy & turning into a mouse spam fest. Good game, lost all the good players.

I reloaded Empire Earth. Went from caveman to Modern age and beat down the computer while he was still attacking me with broadsides.
San Andreas. Beaten it. Now I just load on a ton of cheats and go crazy. Usually I do invuln (except to falls and explosions), no wanted level, infinite ammo, super punch, super jump, peds attack you with rocket launchers. Then I spawn the apache or the harrier. If I'm really bored I just do flying cars and sing chitty chitty bang bang while I cruise along (or you grab a tow truck, hook another vehicle, gain speed and take flight causing the other vehicle to be launched somewhere)
MoH pacific assualt. I get a kick out of doing the pearl harbor attack over n over again.

I'll just list the multiplayer games, not the singleplayer ones.
VGA Planets : one of the first "multiplayer" games for the PC I've ever played. Hardly ever play it nowadays, but "back then" it held my interest for around 2 years.
Master of Orion 2 : this is a game I still have on my PC, and occasionally play. That's like what, 11 years ? Well, for at least 7 of them, it was THE game for me and a bunch of my friends (yes, we did prefer it over Heroes of Might and Magic).
Heroes (oMaM) 3 : definetely nicer singleplayer as MoO2, shorter and faster-paced multiplayer. One of the other "long lasting" games, especially due to the expansion packs. Heroes 1,2,4,5 simply didn't "do" it for the bunch of us playing multiplayer, for various reasons. Yes, with Heroes 5 out, we still occasionally played Heroes 3.
Alpha Centauri (and sequel) : less appealing as Master of Orion 2 or Heroes 3 for multiplayer, even if the "handling" of network games was nicer. Definetely prefered it over the Civilisation series for singleplayer, arguably even more enjoyable as Heroes 3. Still play it to this day too.
But, well, once I started with EVE, the rest kind of faded... just not enough time to get into them, and lack of easy over-the-internet connectivity made it even worse.

Wow.. just thinking back over my games collection there really is a shortlist of games that managed to keep my interest after a months playing..
Eve (over 2 years now) Eq2 (6 months regrettably ) Oblivion (in or around a month and replaying after the add-ons/expansion's) Morrowind (probably about 2/3 months constant replays on PC and Xbox) Alpha Centauri (spent an entire summer playing multiplayer with the hotseat patch)
Think I've pretty much played any and every game of note in the last 10 years, excluding sports or racing games..

@ above... SG was a good game, until you get to that 50 level brick wall, for those not paying. that killed it for me. SG did not seem to change last time i logged on...
Starport: Galactic Empires was a good game, kinda sorta MMO,(damn shards) but an RPG. Think eve with alot less depth, and 2d. I dunno what the game is like now, I have been SOOOO out of touch with SGE players.
Empire Earth I, good game. EE2 kinda killed it for me - I played a few times, and it was just... meh. I ended up with a load of materials I had no clue what to do with, as I already was at max pop... Every now and then I get together with my bro and we go at it, (EE1), and that is usually fun :)
Lets see.... Eve...
x2: The Threat, and x3: Reunion - Awesome games, single player RPG, space based FPS, even. The game is the same as ever (x3 at least), with a few more bugfixes, and a ton more free mods.
Homeworld 2 - One of THE best RTS games I play. This is one of those games that defines a genre. In addition, the community is still going strong, mods going on YEARS after the game is released. (like 4-5 years now?)

Civ 2-4 SMAC (Sid Meier's Alpha Centari Outpost X-Wing Tie Fighter Total War (Rome and Medieval II mostly, just picked up Kingdom's for RTW:MII) Half Life and HL2 Command and Conquer/Red Alert Doom (all) Grand Turismo 2, 3 and 4 Madden (a bunch of them, I consider the new years as expansion packs) Sim City (how many have there been?) Pirates! Earl Weaver Baseball (ahhh, CGA 4 color blocky gaming, how I don't miss it) Test Drive (cliff on one side, drop off on the other) Need for Speed (the original!!!) Rainbow Six
Oh yeah, played WoW for 9months as part of an ex avoidance exercise. Once she moved out, I stopped.
When I think about it I have been gaming for something like 25 years. Pong, Atari, Intellivision, Commadore 64, the early days of desktop computing. I have left a few out, like the original Police Quest, and a few "educational games" which just happened to have some fun gameplay. I also spent hours pwning games like Jeopardy and the Carmen Santiago games when i was a young teen. Not to mention the horror I still feel when I read "YOU HAVE DYSENTERY".
I was lucky to even have some of that growing up as my family was pretty poor most of the time. The one saving grace of my pre-teen years was that dad briefly was a part owner of an electronics shop in the podunk Montana town we lived in. He was one of the first people to sell computers in the NE corner of Montana, so my exposure to computers came early. He was a eager adopter of the new tech and while most kids only had exposure to the 2600 and NES, I was into computer gaming. Which problably explains why most of my list are PC games rather than consoles. I was never into Zelda, never even owned an NES, and did have a console after the Intellivision as a kid until I bought a PS2 after having a roommate with a PS and PS2.
Anyway, my current roomie sprained both ankles and I offered to go get her some dinner...so enough of memory lane for this old fart.

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 05/09/2007 04:44:44 Boulderdash - Tried it on an emulated version, spoiled with graphics these days, still a great game for being that simple. R.I.P
Sword of Fargoal - Assassins, fog of war, pitfalls and loot, where can you go wrong? Retired with fond memories of hours wasted.
Elite, took me ages to get around. Retired, UI hostile.
Pirates! Simple yet enchanting game, didn't fully experience it back when, may still give the new release a shot, even if I have to learn to dance. Under consideration.
X-Com - Terror From The Deep. Retired, wish something like it would come on the market.
Caesar II, Retired, loved the city and provincebuilding, loathed the combat phases.
Red Alert, Retired, may pick it up again just for the soundbytes.
Halflife/Counterstrike, loved the massive maps on Halflife, especially on a LAN and the more than two way meatgrinder maps on Counterstrike, it's been a looong time since I shot someone in the face with that shotgun. Just too god damn bored with the maps as they were and the low rotation of said maps. Comeback unlikely.

2 really come to mind.
Zelda : Ocarina Of Time - kept playing through it for days, but stopped at the Firest Temple because those damn Wallmasters scared the bejesus out of me :) Came back later and finished the game. Next thing I did was go right back and replay it :p
Star Wars : Knights Of The Old Republic - I've never been a fan of RPG games, but this one hooked me in and never let go. The combat system was just divine, mixing Real-Time and turn based play. Not to mention the storyline was worthy of a place as a Star Wars film, never mind a game. I put even more time into this than Zelda.
Homeworld : Cataclysm - Another game with an excellent single player. But it's lastability was in it's Skirmish and online modes, which still keep me entertained to this day, 7 years after release. Best of the series in my view.

Silent Hill, the Room
Very cool, and a bit creepy. CouldnŠt finish it because it really frightend my bf. And now we lost the game..I think he threw it away because I kept digging it up and playing it to see if he got over it. IŠm mean
Guildwars kept me occupied for 6 months. otherwise it seems a lot of the newer games are finished in a week or maybe two. I did play bloodlines over and over again with different classes so that also kept me busy for maybe 4 months in total.

Assuming you mean V:TM - Bloodlines. If you don't insist on fancy graphics, V:TM - Redemption has much better story and gameplay.

Edited by: Nachshon on 05/09/2007 21:49:16 Most games I have played have held my attention for a long time.
Fury3 (ancient CFS [combat flight sim]) - I haven't played in years, and as I was pretty young, I just used cheat codes. Age of Empires (RTS): Each Age of Empires game, as well as its expansion, has held my attention for a while, as did Age of Mythology. I currently play the expansion to III. Starcraft (RTS): Held my attention for several months. I don't like it as much, mainly because I'm not actually that good at it. Starlancer (CFS): Decent, but hard. Earth & Beyond (MMORPG): Was good while it existed. Red Alert 2 (RTS): Excellent. The expansion was even better. I haven't played in a while, though my brother still does. Medal of Honor Allied Assault (FPS): Very good game. Emperor: Battle for Dune (RTS): Mainly because I was a fan of Dune, I liked it. It wasn't that great, really, but I'm easily entertained by strategy games. Unreal Tournament (FPS): I would still be playing it, but I left the disc at home. Excellent if you just want to kill things. Final Fantasy XI (MMORPG): Didn't like it, really. Tried to make it work, but failed. Tetra Master was fun for a bit longer. Command & Conquer: Generals (RTS): Excellent. Again, expansion rocked even more. Don't play it anymore - moved on. Neverwinter Nights (RPG): Awesome. Rise of Nations (RTS): Great game, moved on. Dawn of War (RTS): One of the best RTS games I have ever played. The first expansion rocked, and the second... well, it's the only other game I am spending time on right now apart from EVE itself. Battlefield 1942 (FPS): Awesome. Unlike most others, the expansions didn't add a ton. Freelancer (Flight sim): Enjoyable, despite a corny storyline. Freelancer gets extra credit because I tried EVE immediately after that. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (RPG): Wow. The hype for this game is justified. Must install on new laptop. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (RTS): Awesome game, but it doesn't work on my computer! EA, either you give me a fix/patch, or I will jam a Mammoth Tank where the sun don't shine! ____________________________________ Caldari by birth, Minmatar by citizenship.

Oblivion - still got it installed, haven't got around to playing it lately because I'm too lazy to switch DVDs all the time. Freelancer - played it through in 2003, did it again last year when I was without internet for a few weeks. Diablo II - haven't played for a few years now. Starcraft - haven't played for a few years now.
Don't make me go through the 10 before that.

My favourites are; Chrono Trigger- Took me 9 months to beat. I spent 6 weeks fighting the robots at the jet bike in the future because I thought thats what you had to do. Needless to say, once I got past that, it was pretty fast progress up to Magus. Final Fantasy 3 (SNES) or 6- Second RPG I ever got, my brother and I would spend hours fighting eathother at random times in battle for fun. Fallout 1- Best RPG I've played on PC until... Fallout 2- Takes the cake, it was so much larger and had so much stuff to kill and limitless ammo from the merchants. Capitalism, Capitalism Plus, and Capitalism 2- The best business games I've found. Part of the reason I went to study business in school. Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic- The main reason I'm in Accounting. My mom and I would play for hours on end for 2 months through a game trying to beat eachother, great times. Rainbow 6- That was the first shooter I played that felt like it had a purpose to it and required some degree of tact and skill. Half Life 1 and 2- They were so immersive, and awe inspiring. Red Faction- Fun with destroyable rock and big guns. Mine Sweeper- Because I like seeing my name as a winner on all 3 level. Coincidentally I've only beaten expert 5 times and eachtime I've had to format my computer or I got a new one. Space Empires 4- Loved 3, 4 was even better. I still have a game going on from 6 months ago.
Didn't quite make the month cutoff Fallout Brotherhood of Steel- I burned through that game with such speed hoping the game would get better. I beat it in about 3 weeks. Freelancer- Great game to play when away from EVE, but lost it when my laptop died. Ragnarok Online- I played on a hacked free server for a while, but it just got repetitive after a while.
Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

There are quite a few games that I absolutely love that aren't on the list because they didn't take a month to play through and/or had little replayability. Games such as the Star Wars: Jedi Knight and Knights of the Old Republic series, for instance (I just recently reinstalled KotOR and played through it over the span of a long weekend).
