I have been trying to calculate range effects for getting different skills, but for the life of me when I add everything up that I already have, it is no where near the range that I am hitting targets at.
I have Missile Bombardment III and Missile Projection II. When I figure these two skills together, I get a range of 29,600 for a standard light missile. But I swear I am hitting at tanges of around 37,000.
Is there another skill out there that effects range for missiles? It is driving me up the wall as I cannot figure it out! ____________ Guides I like: Mining Guide V2.0.1 By Halada (Awesome guide!) |

Ah, I suppose the 3 ranks of cruiser in a caracal would make a difference...

Don't use standard missiles on a Caracal. You have a Kestrel for that...

The best way to determine missile range is to right-click on your launchers in ship fitting, or use Show Info on your ship and pick the launcher under Fittings.
Whichever way you choose, you will be given the info for your missiles with all possible skill boni implemented. Then all you have to do is multiply the flight time by the speed. Then subtract a few percent to take into account acceleration and the fact that missiles don't fly in a straight line, and you'll get a good idea of their range.
So if your calculations give you a 37k range, assume you can hit most targets, particularly NPC, since they're stupid, at 36k. This changes for players, who may fly away from you, thus outdistancing the missiles, of course. In something like a ceptor they could do this from fairly close to you. So keep that in mind when PvPing. Also, they could just warp out and not have to deal with it at all.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

I just been sticking with that setup until I get my BC skills and cash together.
I love my Arbalest Launchers, but really this is just a standby until I move on to a bigger boat... It handles all my missions fine except for Recon and that was only an issue as I lagged out and when I got back all the spawns had come in by the time I made it back. ____________ Guides I like: Mining Guide V2.0.1 By Halada (Awesome guide!) |

Ya after I noted the Caracal mod I came up with something right around 36km which is much closer. 1km in comparison to 7km difference is much easier to see as a variance either in my timing or their travel speed or some other random "thing". ____________ Guides I like: Mining Guide V2.0.1 By Halada (Awesome guide!) |

ctrl+shift+f (the fitting window) works in station or in space, right click on the missile, will give stats that include skills/ship bonuses.
in the case of guns show info on the gun will give stats with skills.

If you're doing L2 missions or fighting frigates a lot, you'll do better with standard missiles, not to mention it's got much heavier tin foil to protect it! -=^=- "Someday the world will recognize the genius in my insanity." |

Missile range is affected by the movements of ships.
If you're being chased by a ship, the effective range of your missiles will be increased because your target is moving into the missile stream.
Likewise, if you're the one doing the chasing, your effective range will be lowered.

I just wait until I'm in space click the targeting thingy and hover my mouse over the launchers. It hilights the targeting range. Of course this does no help when you're buying a missile launcher and missiles but meh.
