Without a doubt the "Game Of The Year." I finally got it a few days ago and have been playing nonstop since I got it. When I first heard of all the reviews and stuff I thought it was merely a hype. Nearly every website/magazine has given it amazing ratings. Heck, EGM reviewed it in it's last issue and every developer gave it a 10/10, which I have never seen before.
It's truly an amazing game. The graphics, storyline, AI, etc. All of it combine into one amazing experience. If you plan on buying this game, BUY THE PC VERSION. Just a note :)
So anyone else played this game? Thoughts opinions? Please don't discuss the storyline as it ruins the game :p ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? Donate to Neo XX! |

It was a great game, I just wish it had a lot more "holy crap" moments, like when the plane comes crashing through the connecting hallway, and they really could have done a lot more with ocean as a mechanic for flooding rooms and creating desperate and hectic situations and the like. And they really should have had the city explode in the end in the most dramatic way possible.
Overall a pretty great game, it's no deus ex though.

True they could have put a lot more of those moments, but it's something I sit back and say not something I say during the game. Meaning the game when your playing sucks you in and keeps you playing, you don't start criticizing till your done playing :p ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? I got about 20-25 hours out of it.
I too have read of people finishing in 10-12 hours. Personally I take the game at a leisurely pace. I explore. I listen to every log I can find. I restart some saves to try things a different way.
I suppose if you tried a speed run through the game you could do it in under 10 hours but where is the fun in that?

Well I play a lot of games, I never really focus on one. For instance I played Eve, CSS, AOE, SC, and Bioshock all last night. I get about 2-3 hours everyday of bioshock and have been playing for 2-3 days and I'm not that far into it. I explore all the levels though, I don't try to rush through it. ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? Donate to Neo XX! |

I explored pretty much every room and container in the game while playing on Medium, and it took me around 25 hours in total. Loved every minute of it.

I'm playing it on Hard (didn't try the other difficulties) and, well, it's hard. Really. I'm near the end of the game (I think) and I've spent about 24 hours playing over the last week or two listening to everything, looking around, etc. There is definite replay value in Bioshock. I also can't count how many times I've died - probably over a hundred, I know it's something ludicrous. If you're sitting on the fence, get it already.

I've been going through it slowly and it's been a blast. The biggest "Holy crap!" moment was the dentist bit I was conserving my ammo carefully and when I turned round and was faced with the dentist I screamed, leapt out of my seat and emptied the whole gun into him ------------

That's what I did playing F.E.A.R when you turn to go down the one ladder and that creepy girl is standing right there. I gotta go buy this game

OMG, no-one remembers that. That's like THE most scary/shocking moment in FEAR, and possibly games in general. My brother got so "on-edge" playing it, he shot the glass and made himself jump. I myself had a few jerking moments (the girl & ladder moment being it).
Shame Bioshock had less of those few jerking moments in :( ---

Bioshock is awesome so far, playing a few hours a day, exploring everything, listening to all the logs. Had to get it for xbox though, since my laptop is fail.

That damn dentist scene nearly gave a me a coronary. But the rest was pretty awesome, needed more jumpy moments though and i got the "happy ending" as i rescued instead of harvested. Definately could have used more jumpy moments though, I was a nervous wreck at the end of FEAR stupid little girl

i've not read this thread properly for fear of spoilers - i'm very nearly at the end and don't want to find out what happens! - so sorry if i'm just parroting somebody else...
i only ever had crashing problems when i tried to use the yarr mini-image that's knocking around, instead of keeping the proper dvd in the drive all the time (my drive sounds like a harrier jump jet on takeoff).
it crashed first time i tried the mini-img, which it'd never done until then, so i switched back to the original DVD and it bluescreened the next time i tried to run it. Turns out Bioshock resets your .ini file after a crash so it was trying to run on MEGA-SUPER-MAX-RESOULTION and falling over.
not sure if deamon tools or the mini-image was causing the initial crash, but using my original disk, disabling any virtual devices (possible anti-piracy thingy?) and setting my options to a more tolerable level covered a multitude of sins.
People with rubbish computers: it looks MUCH better on high detail & low res, rather than low detail and high res which looks crap.
