Silent Scream are mostly ex-klepto, and we keep it as old school as possible.
But the direction the game is heading in looks like in a years time it will be either 0.0 messing around in huge fleet ops(boring) or living it up in high sec with not much care for death because t2 items will cost about 100 isk each.
where does the game direction leave hardcore low sec pirates when a good loot drop a year ago is worth jack nowadays?
Lets think how pirating has changed over the last few years, ill start you off.......
Dampened sentry guns Loot worth isk 1x smartbomb pod kill warp to 15 no stab penalty
i mean comon ccp, what does eves most gentlemanly proffession have to do to catch a break.
Feel free to list how the game itself has had an effect on our job both good and bad.

On one side I feel that players are generally a bit more savvy and warp to zero helps protect those who're not.
For my time left in eve I feel that the style of piracy will be more white collar than the rough and tumble stuff I'm used to.
I agree I don't have the features to be a holoreel star. Most people have missed the point that this is Mobsters Online and that carebears are at the bottom of the foodchain. |

Low sec piracy is usually pretty boring. However there are still 2 good ways to make big profits in low sec.
- find a station that carriers use to jump in and out of 0.0. Find one that spits ships out of dock range. Kill them. - find a low sec system that freighters got through a lot. Kill them.
Piracy will never be dead, as long as there are people with stuff of value, and people who are willing to kill them for it.

Give the dev's some credit. All warp to 0 did was move the camp to the other side of the gate. They won't want to see low sec empty and booring. Level 5 missions are already lo and no sec only content there will almost certainly be more. As for piracy, if it ever dies, then those afraid of it will come where it can get them and it will be reborn.

hehe, just kidding.
i think 0.0 and lowsec will become boring pretty soon. i see more and more pirates doing stuff in highsec as it seems to be more challenging (kill enemies without getting concorded) or just half afk gatecamping at places where high sec meets lowsec (still boring but good profit while playing your psp or reading a book)

Sadly to say the muffin factory may give up piracy Max.
Assault frigs may be able to catch everything on entry but there isn't enough people traveling threw low sec to catch.
There is about 75% less traffic as the days of old and i don't see ccp giving incentives for people to go into low sec anytime soon.
Ive been talking about it with my guys where thinking about going merc/0.0 hunting again.
But if they nerf piracy a couple more times my corp will probably leave eve.

I dont think piracy will ever die in eve.
However the best part of eve for muffin factory was traveling in squads of 3-4 recon cruisers and killing people in belts in the bleak lands area.
But we have done a ton of roaming and there is no kills to get in the belts anymore its prity much empty space, that alone killed the best thing in this game for me.
As for empire wars i dont like camping a station 6hrs for 1 battleship kill =/

im making ok isk from ransoms, not billions but enought to keep me going, and now and then you popp a hauler whit some good loot.
and theres caps that can give you some good isk like mentioned above, but hard to ransom solo. :P
but yea standard loot drops is often crap, tech 2 gear is to cheap, it just give you enought refine to build ammo and some spare tech 1 ships.

Low sec piracy is alive and kicking.. 'pirates' moaning about changes in the game are merely displaying their inability to adapt. x13 is getting plenty of kills in low sec.. piracy may have become more challenging , but whats the problem with that? its still easy pickings (but apparently not easy enough for some ppl), since low sec is still full of pilots taking risks and running the gauntlet.

What ****ed me off about warp to 0km is that there is no chase now :( No stab monkey making the warp to a gate or station and me chasing to finish the job under sentry fire.
Seen quite a few people I've warped in on scatter for a gate and by the time I get there he is jumped and in warp to another gate in the next system, 1 minute later he is 3 jumps away :(

no i havnt made billions yet, but i think if i keep this up the billions will come eventually.
tho I can imagine its tuff for the younger guys who solo around the belts in frigs and cruiser trying to make a living of it since tech 2 loot has dropped so much in price.

Imo, it wasnt so much that warp to zero killed campin as such, it killed the chase. In the old days you had a chance of catchin your victim if he escaped from you at a belt. so it was worth followin them. Now there no point, they just warp to z to a gate or station.
Take out warp to z to anythin execpt from gate to gate, thats what CCP should of done, Not warp to z to everythin.

Well pirates bring balance to the game in my opinion. If it wasnt for pirates carebears would be even more abundant(and there are to many as it is already). But about a year ago it was a lot easier to get solo kills and has been getting harder ever since, I just gave up piracy to much hassle for too little kills.
They should get rid of warp at 0 and make instadock/jump bookmarks impossible by making the ships warp at a random point 15kms away from what you where aiming for. This is also more realistic since space bound to have some anomalys that bring you a bit of course. Plus that the random point makes the chase a bit harder for pirates.

I agree that piracy as it was is dead.
I blame capitals and recons personally for the decline in targets.
Caps and especially smartbombing motherships made camping way too easy and though not that common I reckon your average carebear just doesn't see the point in risking their ship/cargo against what they see as impossible odds.
Then you have recons like the Curse and Arazu, they killed solo piracy because 1vs1 they are damn hard to beat. I remember in 2005 when I use to belt pirate in a Rax, people would fight back instead of hiding because they felt like they had a chance against you, this was true even when I was in a Battleship. But whats the point of staying to fight when you know you most likely gonna lose.
Special mention for klepto as well, they took piracy from a cottage industry to an assembly line of slaughter which really didn't help carebear perceptions of low sec.
You still have plenty of noobs and macro haulers to shoot but theres no isk in it.
Anyway you will probably disagree but thats may view on it.

0.0 roaming gangs ftw honestly. Sure, there isn't much isk to be made in piracy these days, but every once in a while you get what some alliance mates and me got yesterday. We were messing around a bit, going here and there, camping here and there, and ended up hugging a gate for a while (wasn't exactly peak time for either US or Euro timezone anymore).
A few guys get killed, nothing serious, until a Hoarder jumps in .. and decides to log off being dictor bubbled. His hauler goes pop, his pod is treated in similar fashion, and we open the wreck .. OMFG! This guy was carrying an Ishtar in his cargo, along with a bucketload of T2 mods. Thanks buddy, much appreciated.
Morale of the story - there still is money to be made in piracy, small gangs are still doable (not 100 % of the times ofc), and every once in a while you really get lucky. Sure, piracy isn't what it used to be anymore, but in my experience it is still a valid profession, although you won't get an argument outta me when you say it got somewhat nerfed by how the game developed over the years. __________

I doesnt think low sec Pirating is dead. As thats about the only thing I do for living:P
However...I think u need to a) have some xperince/intel where to find the nice spots. b) be willing to move a LOT, as u emtying the places u have been. and U need to let the carebears return now and then for long enough that they feel some kidna safe:P
c) u got to have the manpower/gunpower to fight anyone...more or less. sometimes u can even try eating a antipirat bait...so check whats comming and then trap the trap:p (drop a mothership on em )
d) about the loot...When Im poor...I go to a low sec mission running hub and start probing. also ransome pods and such to extra profit. _______________________________ Vids produced by me

I can remember a time when your corpmates would chew you a new one for running from a fight if you were flying anything other than an indi. Of course, they'd be fitting to go out and hunt the ship that killed you while they heckled you. That was a different era in Eve though; carebears weren't so greedy and fearful of losing one of their umpteen Hulk-trained alts although they have enough isk to buy 25 more Hulks at significant mark-up.
I'm not a pirate but I do see piracy as an integral part of Eve's economy. I wouldn't mind if empire pirates got a little buff, if only for the reason that surviving a foray into low sec would be that much more satisfying.

Ok... I'm gonna troll LOL...
What do you consider piracy? Ganking an Indy or a miner with no protection? Or finding an "I-win" scenario of 2 cruisers against you 2 recons and 1 BC?
The low-sec system I'm in has plenty of activity. I see Industrial corps coming in and out with Indys and miners.
But the main difference is that these corps have some protection. I'm sick of Pirate saying "Piracy is dead", just because the prey is a little more defended now a days. The newbie corps who once traveled low-sec without protection are now organized into members who now PvP.
I think Piracy hasn't died, but I think Piracy has bred new corps/players who setup and want to PvP. I see many Industrial Corps going out and SEEKING fights today, and also, I see the Pirate corps who are whining in this thread, running from these Industrial corps who now can defend themselves.
Think of the carebears as Batman, and the pirates as the Joker. The Joker invented Batman. The Pirates have now helped to create a set of non-Pirate corps who are willing to defend themselves.
Piracy to me is more than just a bully picking on the skinny kid.
Respect to the pirate corps who don't only look for the easy kills.

Well thanks for the troll!
Firstly i simply asked for oppinions on if infact the way the game in general is heading, would piracy die out? I never stated that is was dead. I pirate daily and love every minute of it.
Easy kills such as lone haulers are often what brings most gain on my part, however i cant and wont speak for everyone.
As for respect, i dont really care who respects me to be honest. All i care about is making a living ingame and if that means im looked at as being lame for taking my chances on an easy target then thats your oppinion but once again it doesnt bother me.
The whole idea of the post in the first place is to get an idea of how other players and corporations feel on the subject of the vast changes to piracy. Its just good to see so many replies and nice to see how people have had to adapt etc etc over the past few years.
But hey, everyone has an oppinion so no need to troll mate. Everyone who has posted has kept on topic and has provided good insights to the the state of our trade as it stands today.

It's the fundamental misunderstanding that carebears have as the think pirating is easier than mining. I've even had a look at some mining corps recently but I've found their income to be disturbingly low.
I'm sure there are higher quality mining carebears out there.

the original quote from maximada... is what makes me get very annoyed about some people in eve, piracy is overated as somebody has already metioned, all of you pirates think ur all really tough and the bad boys of space but as soon as you find somthing out that may threaten the fact that u ruin so many players of eve-onlines experience you all b**** like hell and spam forums left right and centre to make it so that you still have the advantage over the random flyers of space that happen to cross your path or be using "your space" for one of its intended uses. IMO piracy is a way for people who can't do anything unless they have a substantial advantage over other people who fit for a single purpose such as ratting or mining. bearing in mind that this was all written by a 15 year old guy who has been playing for about 4 monthes that fact shows that the affects of piracy and the effect that these people have on the game itself are so common and visible even to the newer players, no wonder three quarters of the starting 4 year players are planning to or have left the game and given their accounts to a friend. FLY SAFE also i\d like to thank you for taking the time to read my post if u haven't just skipped to the bottom

Were not moaning mate you are
before you flame my thread with utter nonsense just do a search for threads on motherships are overpowered in low sec or the classic theres no defence against empire ganking of my freighter.
If you do a comprehensive search of the forums you will see that infact, everytime pirates find out something that gives us the upper hand, there are that many carebears venting their disgust about it that the game is changed.
I also think you will find that alot of the people answering this post are old players and were not here to moan, were just posting our views.
