I have been producing and trading P1, because that is what I have found to be the most profitable with my trading and production style. What are you trading/producing? Have you found it is a good idea to buy P1-2s and manufacture P3-4s? |

Well considering that P3 and P4 goods are on the market, I would suppose that someone finds it profitable.
Really, what are you wanting here? A copy of my PI spreadsheet? Hah.

I only really make the usual assortment of POS fuels. Even then, I pretty much have to force myself to do it. |

You can make more going p1 to p4 than p2 to p4 (but make sure you can't do better by buying p2s or p3s than making them in the process.) You can make more p4s on a planet from p2s than if you set up a planet to do p4s from p1s.
On the whole though, P4s are a tricky market. They spike nicely when a new expansion with new heavy p4 use items come out.
I found more regular money making p2s from p1s, but you need a combination of patience and understanding of certain bottlenecks to make it work for you. I also try to optimize for less-frequent "refueling" than for items/hour. I try to make it 72 hour visit cycles, but the various structures don't make that goal easy (usually less). |

If there are indeed people making more buying low-lvl Ps, turning them into high-lvl Ps and subsequently selling them, I'll have cause to explore this route some more. |

I do mostly Extraction P0 -- > P1. I do Biofuels on all characters in my WH and I get 2+ Bil/month.
I found out that Processing from P1 -> P2 would make a better profit but it also requires more work. |

I made a spreadsheet in excel that tells you which is the most profitable PI good to do production on going from any stage to any stage, what I found was that P1-P2 worked the best. It might have changed now because I havent been updating the prices and no longer do production only.
These pictures were taken when the excel sheet wasn't done and are not correct, but you get the idea of how to work it. I have it set up so all you have to do is input jita prices for materials on one page and you will get profit for each type of production possible on another.

Detail Section

I only ever did get around to making it for 3 of the how ever many there are P4 products. But those 3 P4 products cover -most- of the lower tier items. If you did want to add in the few that I decided not to finish it would be very easy for anyone who knows how to use excel. Just copy and paste the pages that exist and change some numbers.
If you want a copy of this excel sheet just let me know :3 Ferox #1 |

It's rather a complex question I'm afraid, I was looking into asessing the market myself. I'm trying to write a small program to help calculate things. Got to the point where I can list schema and the number of products involved I then realised there is another layer of calculations to asses the 'build' of the colony itself. It's one thing knowing producing Px from Py is the most valuable cycle per hour if you don't know how many cycles per hour diffrent colony setups are capable of it's fairly useless info.

PoS fuels, plus construction blocks. I siphon a little coolant off every now and again to sell, and the construction blocks are mostly to make money between injections of P1 stuff I can't get in the system. |

I just use PI to fuel T2 production, so at the moment I am producing rocket fuel, robotics, mechanical parts and construction blocks. Maybe it would be more effective to use my planets for POS fuel, sell it on the market and just buy the components I need for manufacturing- but I have become lazy, and that would be far too much effort. Posting only nice things for 13 days. If anything I post should offend you, please let me know ingame by repeatedly podkilling me. Thank you. |

P2 - mainly because they take up less room than P1, and it's easier to haul out of the wormhole.

POS fuel and then robotics with left overs...some construction blocks when I have abundance of other things. I do make nano factories, but I find those sell rather sporadic... Ok money just really sporadic.
A lot of people just make a **** ton of p1 or p2 and sell em... for me that's a tad boring, but overall I see how it would be much much easier and profitable. |

I used to produce POS fuel only, with all my active characters. fuel my POS and sell the extra for 200-300 mil a week(I have 4 accounts)
Currently I am producing stock piles of P4s to manufacture towers. I never realized how much I relied on my PI sales for spending cash. Rarely have more than 100 mil in wallet currently used to have several hundred mil at any given time. I currently have several billion in P4s and capital ship components I can liquidate at any time, so isk isn't really a problem. but even in high sec PI can make good isk for the time it takes to keep it running.
I think I made far more isk selling POS fuel than I will make off the P4s and selling towers but I am working toward freighter production and need something to keep me busy while my BPO's are in the cooker. |

POS fuels is the best return by far, always demand, and easiest to get into. P4 stuff is not particularly profitable, but obviously has less volume. Can be a pain to keep the flow optimised. Depends on your playstyle really, and available planets; I have a couple of losec ones that keep my P4 running fairly nicely. |

Most of my PI is in w-space, with a few hisec factory planets tidying up loose ends.
My priorities are: - POS fuel PI materials (each system produces enough for several POS); - bits & pieces for building t2 ships and ammo; - P4. Usually wetwares, but I prolly should check the value of them all again soon.
My debate ATM is whether to haul my POS fuel PI materials to empire to build the blocks, or whether to haul the ice components in to w-system. Quick napkin Maths has me leaning to first option ... Looks like less hauler jumps overall. We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details.
