Quote: My quarrel is not with Mr. Irixis condemnation of slavery -- as I have previously stated, the State has banned slavery within its borders. My quarrel is with Mr. Irixis' and other Gallente who think that it is their job to dictate what it is that the State, the Republic, the Empire, and any other foreign nations must do. Your sarcasm only hurts your own people -- as long as the Minmatar cling to the Federation and its fearmongering, you will be always be subservient to the Federation, dependent on it for your livelihoods.
You have said that you are sad that no Gallente stand up to disagree with Mr. Irixis, please allow me the small pleasure of being able to do so. The State is not being any more hypocritical than the Federation, it is being slightly less hypocritical than the Empire, and really the Matari are less hypocrites than any of us.
The State needs to stop raising up sovereignty as its defense to the slavery argument, because you are right on sovereignty and wrong on slavery. If the Empire only enslaved its citizens then this wouldn't even be an issue, but it doesn't. In fact it actively enslaves State, Federation and Republic citizens with little complaint from any of their governments. This is not an issue of sovereignty, this is an issue of self-serving appeasement by the State, the Federation, and the Republic to the Empire.
The Intaki should be free to leave the Federation if that is how their citizens decide, as the State should have been. The Caldari should have their home world back. The Ammatars should be able to be their own sovereign nation free of both the Republic and the Empire. All of this is immaterial though, because these aren't about the Caldari State, they are about sovereignty.
Quote: Certainly we in the State can understand your position -- after all, upon winning your autonomy you were extremely weakened by a long and desperate struggle, one which, unlike the State, you were not prepared for. However, you have traded one master for another, only this one cloaks its iron fist in a velvet glove. If the Republic truly wants to be free, I encourage you to stop being blinded by the Federation, which keeps you dependent on the scraps of its sumptuous dinner like a dog at the family table, and then expects you to be grateful for it. If you wish to see what this tactic will get you, you need only look to the fate of the Intaki people within the Federation -- their homeworlds lie in neglect by the Federation government, left to fend for themselves while the Federation reaps the rewards of their continued contributions.
The Federation relies on the Republic as much as the Republic relies on the Federation, I think we all know that. The Republic keeps the Caldari from attacking the Federation, the Federation keeps the Empire from attacking the Republic.
Quote: The Republic could be the equal of the State, the Federation, and the Empire -- certainly your areas of the cluster are rich in natural resources and you are far more populous than the State, at the very least. If you would abandon your self-destructive tendency for revenge (no matter how understandable it may be) and focus on building the Republic into a powerful economic force, you could stand on your own and not cling to the apron strings of the Federation. The State would not have been your enemy if you had not made us one. This is a mistake you can still remedy, but not while you insist on simply parroting the misguided social and "diplomatic" policies of the Foirtain regime.
Foiritan is an idiot, but let's not argue about politicians. Instead let's question when exactly the Republic made the State an Enemy. I'm not aware that ever happened. The Republic isn't bent on revenge, neither are EM or U'K. Why doesn't the State protect it's own people and dump their ridiculous alliance with the Empire. Hell, you could probably get a better deal from the Republic anyway. Metus improbos compescit, non clementia. It is fear, not kindness that restrains the wicked. |
