Just wondering for the newer people joining eve or people changing faction missions etc,
other than training more social skills, is their a quick way to get past lvl 1, then onto lvl 2 missions?
how many lvl 1 missions would it actually take without social? etc

Whatever type of missions you can run the fastest, run those. Storyline missions will be the main source of standings boost at the early phase.
But really, just train Connections. Really.

What you really need before tackling lvl2's is a fitted cruiser, along with some basic skills to go with it.
Assuming that you'll be making your isk running missions for the same NPC corporation, you'll have standings for their lvl2 agents long before you can actually use them.
People that actually need to "grind standings" by running lvl1's etc, are either people that want to shift faction for which they run missions for, or old players that never did run missions, and want to start. ----

Also, your faction standing counts. If it's high enough you can go straight to L4s with another corp. That happened to me -- my Gallente standing was high enough to start with L4s, never ran a mission for Astral Mining before then. =)

It shouldn't take too long. Assuming you get a sad +0.01 standing per mission, you will get 1.00 standing after 100 missions, and you get access to the lowest quality level 2 agents after 1.00 standing. Of course, I'm pretty sure most missions give more than 0.01 standing.

You will need to earn a combined total of a bit over 10% to go from standing 0.00 to 1.00, you can check what you get from each mission by doing a "show transactions" on the corp in question, a rough guess would be 20-32 combat missions, depending on your storyline luck.
Quickest way to do them: well pimped thrasher, can do most level 1s in less than 5 minutes, so find a station with several level 1 combat agents, and a storyline agent.

As stated. Train social to lvl3. Train connections to lvl3. hello lvl2 agent. Even with with a new players learning skills I would've thought 8 - 12 hours. It's been a while for me so if my timings are wildly out the I apologise.
