Here is the story: I picked up a cerb the other night. Fitted up a slight tank with 3 T2 ballistic controls and 5 arby heavy launchers. Seems ok, great range (around 115km) and pretty good damage. Then, while surfing the market I see heavy assault missiles... HHMMMM
I run out and grab the appropriate skill and 5 arby heavy assault launchers. Fit them up and see a rate of fire of 3.38 seconds and a range of 23km... WOW. The damage doesn't seem great though... even though I have only training the skill to lvl 2, I thought it would be a little better. So now the questions.....
Advanced missile skills get you a rate of fire bonus. Do you only have to use the T2 launchers to get the bonus, or also the T2 ammo??
T2 ammo penalizes range, would this not amount to me sitting on the face of an enemy to land a shot (current range of 23km)??
Do you use have assaults?? Do you like them?? What is your take and comparison between them and standard heavy launchers??

I am currently training HAM to level 5, but I have never fitted a HAM launcher to any ship. Regardless, the rof bonus from the t2 launchers works on t1 and faction ammo alike. For PVP, you should be loaded with faction missiles and carry a bit of the t2 around with you. Javelins for range, Rage for damage when applicable. If you do fit the cerb with HAMs for PVP, you may want to consider dropping the tank for EW as the PG/CPU after HAMs = EW > Tank.

Good information there Nahno. I was able to fit a med T2 booster, a boost amp, a T2 photon, and a T2 invuln along with afterburner, 3 T2 BCU with the heavy assault launcher w/ out trouble.
So I can fit the T2 launchers and use T1 ammo and get the rate of fire bonus?? This sounds very nice, as this would make for a sub 3 second rate of fire. With my 3.38 second rate of fire and have assault lauchers only trained to 2 it can dish out a fair bit of damage just based on the rate of fire. I would like to see some additional damage though.

i love HAM on my cerby. Get nice range for closeup using faction and if range is needed i pop in some javs wich go over 100km.
about 2.8 ROF with 3 t2 BCU

do not fit med booster + amp, because u will die. Try this setup, its not too good, but better then one with med booster.

Your shield booster would boost 240 hp consuming 150 capacitor.
If you want to tank fit at least large booster, even large booster isnt efficient enough to tank decent damage.
Maybe try large extenders, so u would have big shield buffer

in this setup you have additional 6500+ shield hitpoints, which equivalent of 27 boost of the shield booster. That means 87 seconds...and this is a long time, usualy fights dont last that long.

T2 HAMS are good for the ROF the specialization skill gives you per lvl. You want to use faction missiles in them, not T2
not tried faction HAM launchers yet, There wasnt any on contract last time i checked a week ago

Actually to me it seems Rage HAMs are very viable to use instead of faction. At least on the setups I use... ofcourse faction are better in many ways but 5 damage + skills pr heavy assault missile adds up fast on bigger ships when you have a cool RoF. - I'm a nice guy!!
